Guest ashtonyate Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I thought Rovers done well its not easy to go and play at an away Ground they were not pretty but deserved the draw. The thing that worried me is yet again we can't break teams down. Our midfield passed the ball back or sideways but very few ball forward O for a Tinnion in Midfield our build up is so slow and laboured we lack width and pace we have seen to many games at Ashton this season.I think we may win at the Mem because we do have a bit more class whether we show it is another thing

IF City can get promoted we won`t struggle to stay up cos most Championship sides will allow us to play the football we like...but until we can break down sides like Rovers tonight we will struggle to get out of this league. It doesn`t help that i can`t remember the last time we had the same two start up front for more than two or three games, as i`ve said before and it showed tonight, our front pairings are unable to play together.Secondly we are so sluggish going forward, and there was no movement from the forwards for the most part. The Rovers backs had an easier job `cos they weren`t moved around enough.Yes they came looking for nothing worse than a draw. Fair play to them, they didn`t deserve to lose, but we didn`t deserve to win in truth.Tuesday should see them with more attacking intent which should make it easier for us to open them up, however GJ is going to have to work on the tactics and try and find us some real width. Not playing Murray in the center might be a start.Disappointing, yes.........loss of bragging rights for the next 6 days,yes...........end of the world, noPDG
Guest snowy_RDFC Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Yea the lack of width was very marked and it was easy for Rovers to deal with any attacks 'cause they weren't stretched at all.Why oh why was Murray playing in the middle. Out of all the midfielders in the squad, Williams aside, he's got the pace and skill that is effective outwide and GJ chose not to use it. Again the lack of a player willing to fight and graft in the middle was very evident.Poor game, poor atmosphere considering the fixture. Hats off Rovers for battling hard and putting in a performance well worthy of a point.
Matty H Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Sssssshh! don't say we have that little bit more class or we'll get accused of being arrogant and patronising!!A point I brought up with Twentyman. That idiot who accused all city fans of being patronising, got my back up
Matty H Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 A point I brought up with Twentyman. That idiot who accused all city fans of being patronising, got my back upAlthough having said that there are some morons. I heard one guy they interviewed whilst I was travelling down going on about how we would be 5-0 up at halftime and how Rovers fans were the scum of Bristol etc. Why idiots like this even bother to draw breath to breath let alone speak is beyond me

WessexPest Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 next week were going to give johnson/jeavons kittens with OUR atmosphere Ah yes, forget the Anfield Kop, the Parkhead Jungle, the Stretford End, the Ali Sami Yen Stadium et al, the Whorefield Wall of noise and the Clubhouse Terrace Massive is where it's at, innit? An arena so intimidating that Bristol City have only, ooh, let me see, one on four of our six visits there. Evidently a real cauldron. You never learn do you? Celebrating a goalless draw in the first leg like you had won the Champions League - an identical reaction in fact to the same scoreline in the Coca-Cola Cup in 1997 - and what happened next? We're still your Daddy and always will be, be-atch.

Guest reading-gas Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I know that you hate to admit it, but we did our job well last night. I don't really understand what you were expecting of us? We are the lower league side, with less quality in the team, did you want us to come out and throw the kitchen sink at you?Personally it didn't feel like a derby to me. The atmosphere was pretty flat, although I'd love to take the East End back to the Mem, that roof in there is brilliant! Where were your fans though? We honestly didn't hear a peep out of you lot all night.Next week will be good. Both teams have everything to play for. That was all that we could of hoped for, because the vast majority of people, red and blue, thought that the tie would have been over and done with last night. With it all to play for next week it should hopefully lead to a cracking atmosphere, with two sides who both want to win.

So matey, just get your own house in order first, we will always" big up" our side, that is our right, just as it is yours to your own, so just worry about your team and we will take care of ours ...

In the same breath as saying branding an entire group of people arrogant is unfair, you do so anyway? I'm confused A good example of arrogance would be coming on the forum of your arch-rivals and being upset to see less-than-flattering comments written about your team on there.

We played shi te, your game plan worked an absolute treat. your management team did an ace job watching City. Ours did a very slapdash effort on the task, I would point out that we do have a couple of players missing, and Brooker not match fit yet. I suspect next weeks game will not be as easy as a large number of you appear to think. Oh and we just played on a piece of shyte pitch: S****horpe, and Blackpool too I beleive, so I doubt that will be a great surprise to us, nor the "Hostile" atmosphere we have been gleefully promised.Arrogant, naaaaaah don't thinks so mate, been here too many fn years! cocky, nope ditto.

WessexPest Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 We will beat the Gas at the Memorial RUGBY Ground because...... .....We all 'ate GascesterWe all 'ate GascesterWe all 'ate GascesterWell done cider head, for supplying the piccies on the Subcider forum of that sad Gashead Eastville stand with the sagging roof burning down. .....That notorious white-hot atmosphere again, OC.
WessexPest Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Did the notoriously dodgy Gasheads burn down their own Main Stand at Eastville to claim the insurance money? No doubt the Gas got the hoses out to flood the pitch today ready for Tuesday - a boggy pitch - like a boggy racecourse - will always favour the carthorses !!!!!! No doubt the Gas did deliberately flood the Memorial RUGBY Ground pitch today to postpone the game to rest their carthorses for Tuesday evening. The Gas are well dodgy and cheats never prosper. Heh heh - how much would the insurance pay-out have been for that heap though? Hardly worth a scam I should think! Wouldn't have covered the expense of the box of Swan Vestas to send it up in the first place...As for the pitch, interesting theory but I don't think that would be to their advantage because they never keep the ball on the deck. Draconian Italian match-fixing style punishments should definitely be imposed if it does transpire that any chicanery was involved though.

If you lot show up and play properly then you should beat us comfortably. However, if you do what you did on Wednesday night then I think we have a chance. I personally think that Johnson underestimated us. He thought that you'd have it easy, but was surprised by the manner of our performance, because there was not much of a difference between the two sides. We are not the best side in League 2. We're an average League 2 side in every single respect. The atmosphere will be hot, but its not going to be as good as people are bigging it up to be. People are getting a bit over-excited on our forum. Anyone with any sense knows what it will be like and has the sense to ignore the crap that is posted on both on here, and on our forum.
