Tomo Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Supported City since 1977, The Derby atmos must be the worst I have ever witnessed down the gate (apart from glos cup).There seemed to be no passion, emotion etc etc,I only wrote in the paper recently promoting the Bristol Derby....lets hope next week (I will be there) serves up a better occasion.All in all, bad performance from the reds, not a derby atmosphere. Maybe Holloway in midfield would have spiced it up ??Those were the daysCome on city !!
BristolCity1992 Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I was singing! Well I tried anyway but with my little boyish voice i cant do it on my own. I will agree though, could have been much more tense at times.
Matty H Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 It was poor. Rovers were louder than us I'm embarressed to say. No idea why. I never heard the Atyeo or Dolman stand during the whole game. Mind you I did have gas in my left ear
Guest DanC Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I am ashamed of that atmosphere tonight. Fair play to everyone that tried though.You wouldn't have known there was near enough 20k there.Why do people fail to understand that a good buzzing atmosphere encourages the players to play better? Why not put that extra bit of effort into it.Makes me laugh cos if we would have been winning for most of the game these people that didn't sing would have been singing then.Why can't these people sing when the players most need encouraging.
bcfc_4_life Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I woudnt say the rovers outsang us as i feel they were quiet too cept the odd outburst off goodnight irene or whaever it is, i was in the Williams E block and we were singing most the time tryna get a atmosh but noone would join in from the other stands, Were theyre actually any people singing in the East end? i mean I'm in favour of re opening it but god make some noise the people in there!!

bcfc_4_life Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 You should have been where I was, the atmosphere was excellent.Where was that as all i could hear was people moaning when the williams wasnt singing

slartibartfast Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 maybe...just maybe, it's because deep down ,despite all the hype, people realised it is a nothing game in a mickey mouse cup?
Jay Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 We were doing our best to sing where we were sat. However, I swear that the three blokles sat to my left were sags. No colours showing, bearly said a word apart from "Oh sh*t" when Phillips made a very small fumble, sat with their arms folded, didn't sing, left early....
deadratinmycider Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 maybe...just maybe, it's because deep down ,despite all the hype, people realised it is a nothing game in a mickey mouse cup?Hit the nail on the head time! I just couldn't get as entusiatic about this derby as I have in the past. I'm much more interested in the league whereas this was probably Rovers' biggest game for years.The fact that it's 2 legs doesn't help, one off games are always much more tense. The atmosphere was brilliant at the start of the game and then it just stopped! I don't think Rovers were much better, the first song I heard from them was "shall we sing a song for you" after about 25 mins!! A couple of gastly Irene's in the 2nd half and that was it.

Admin Maesknoll Posted February 22, 2007 Admin Posted February 22, 2007 As I was walking out I heard a few comments like "which way out is it" "do we turn left or right here" and the worst one " At least liverpool won, I got my dates muddled up and would have watched that on the telly by choice"So we had a possible infiltration of sags or we had a load of first timers / neutrals to whom it meant little.

If this is what it will be like in the next league up,well we need to move or knock the East End down now, yes I said that : and build a decent stand that can unite our fans in one place;
pdgifford64 Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Funny that but from the East End there was NO NOISE at all from the other stands; compare how many City were in the E.E to the other stands before you gob off Sorry glos boy but you wouldn`t have heard it in the EE.We know the singing support has been dispersed around the ground and until we can get that support focused in one area-EE-we will keep getting these posts after every home game.Look along the Williams from block E and i reckon the average age must be 45-50..thats hardly 90 minutes of chanting material- and thats not a critiscism.WE MUST HAVE THE EASTEND BACK FOR ASHTON GATE TO BE A PLACE FOR TEAMS TO FEAR
Meh Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I thought both sets of fans were poor.I could see E Block Williams trying to have a good go by the fact they were on their feet with hands aloft, but, the sound doesn't carry over to the other side of the pitch (Dolman Block N). I was too far from the Atyeo to hear them. As for the Dolman in N block and G behind me, not great at all; has been far better for sure.As for the Gas fans; disappointed to be honest. They made some noise, but, that's only to be expected. Other teams with less fans have been louder and vocal for longer periods of the game. For large spells you would have thought it was just another dour night game with the normal City attendance and minimal away support; as opposed to the first competitive Derby for half a decade. Dire all round really.
sephjnr Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 maybe...just maybe, it's because deep down ,despite all the hype, people realised it is a nothing game in a mickey mouse cup?maybe...just maybe that a goal would have cured that for a start. Or if we'd had more than 1 shot on target for the whole 90. Or if our midfield didn't turn to rancid jelly when Nobes left. Or...We're a reactive crowd rather than a pro-active one. We'd given ourselves the biggest build-up possible but shot our load early on into the match and 9/10 times people would prefer to react to what's going on than constantly make themselves retch from singing- and let's face it, there really wasn't *THAT* much to sing about, was there?

The club may be coming round on this and any development will include a unreserved area but i am not confident what so ever.For what it is worth Williams E was quite good at times last night but that sound does not travel around the ground well unlike.......ah, but you know the answer to that one.
