robins72 Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Did anyone hear the interview after the game from Johnson? Mentioned how we were flat and some players didnt turn up and there would be a change of personnel in the next leg. Reminded me very much of the interview after the Yeovil game. So do we need to change the personnel? Why do we have players that arent up for these derby matches or is it just nerves? Over to you...

Over to you...If its a change of personnel needed then surley the whole starting 11 needs changeing because none of those players knew what that game meant to us the fans last night. The only bristolian in our starting 11 was carey. Also we had a loanene in andrews who wasnt intrested in it at all,Hes not worried he knows hes out of here come the end of the season. Also why was murray played in the centre? Why wasnt marie-williams brought on instead of skuse when murray went off?
Bristol Boy Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I noticed that he didn't want to talk about formation & tactics-Wonder why That was one of the worst games of football I've ever seen in my life

Tinnion used to do this and got slated but Johnson hates to admit he got his tactics wrong.

Richy P Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I'm not one to be negative, but last night was ultimately down to bad shape, and poor motivation on the pitch. For me, Carey as captain didn't play that well, Walker won every flick on and had the better of Carey. The only two players who showed 'passion and enthusiasm' was Dave Noble, and Richard Keogh. To play 5 at the back, which it was, was very dissappointing especially considering we were the home side and against a lower division team. Probably the ideal time to have a 4-4-2, and reintroduce Myrie williams on the left wing from the start. We knew phillips was poor from crossing as showed, from brookers miss from 5 yards. If we play a wing back system, we need wingers who can attack and cross as well as defend. Orr and Woodman barely got past the half way line and when they did distribution was poor. We need to go back to how we know how to play, the wing back system works when playing away as you expect to be under pressure and need the extra defence, but at home we should be attacking and entertaining. I have full faith in GJ, when we lost to Blackpool at home he realised he was wrong and changed personel and formation the next game. we are still in it, and i have every confidence we will win at the mem, but I refuse to just blame the tactics. For me too many players were off their game last night and need to show a bit more quality and determination to win.

I thought he was, also Andrews ran his heart out last night played well I thought.
RedTop Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 HmmmAndrews ran his socks offChanging Basso would seem a bit harshNice to see some intelligent footy debate taking place todayPDGAgree Andrews ran his socks off.I thought GJ suggested that some of the players froze in front of the big crowd and that he'd have to look at that as it was worrying given the number of big games potentially coming up.I thought he said pretty much what I wanted to hear after a performance like that. Namely that it wasn't good enough and that he would be taking positive action to make it better. He knows better than everyone that he'll be judged on results. But I'd swap a win over the Gas for promotion every day of the week, and I hope we all keep that game in perspective. It'd be the icing on the cake if we won the JPT, but there's no point in having icing if you've got no cake to spread it on!

Some performances were first class particularly Keogh. It's going to be very difficult to drop him. What a future he has for us - hopefully! Can't see how dropping Murray and trying Betsy "in the hole" or dropping Fontaine for McCallister (as good as he is) is going to suddenly make us a side to be feared with this formation?Maybe it will be good enough for a 1-0 at Brighton?
BCAGFC Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Tinnion used to do this and got slated but Johnson hates to admit he got his tactics wrong.Exactly what I was thinking on the way home last night, I back GJ all the way but last night he got the tactics completely wrong, the players didn't know who or where to pass the ball because they couldn't understand the formation/tactics.STICK TO 442, everyone knows how and what to do in that formation and then if that doesn't work then change.BCAGFC

It may put a bit of a downer on a potential for a great season and the promotion we strive for. Hope I am wrong, but better still I hope we don't get in the position to find out.
