According to ceefax he has gone back to southampton, yeovil have taken a young ipswich striker on in his place.

surely after the dire performance last night it must be worth a shout.

comon board/gj try and get him in whilst we are hanging in there with a shout of a final and promotion.

His loan was up !

Discussed elsewhere on here

There are a whole host of clubs trying to get him, Oldham being one after Hall was badly injured in training today and Swasea another after Akinfenwa broke his leg the other day.

And us having:

Closer Geography

More Money

Being far better placed than Swansea.

A Divsion he knows he can do well in.

The ability to possibly offer Championship Football next season and he only needs to join on loan then wait and see at the end of the season.

Win-Win Scenario.

Put like that it looks more like a Win-Win-Win-Win-Win scenario!

And to expand on it with another point, we could also offer him the chance to play at the Millenium Stadium in a cup final if we beat the Rovers, as I believe he hasn't yet played in the Trophy at any of his previous clubs.

And the idea he'd go to Swindon instead cause Sturrock is "owed a favour" by George Burley strikes me as absured. I doubt very much any player in Best's position would decide to move down the league system if he had options elsewhere, just ask Luke Rodgers. ;)

Only thing to note is that he began his career at Notts County, so might be tempted to go back to Nottingham. Saying that Forest is the one club that doesn't seem to lack prolific first team strikers out of all the top 6 or 8 teams in the division, so they might not be all that interested. Plus if what I've heard they're paying Prutton is true, I doubt their directors would be too keen to sanction any more loan wages any time soon!

Sorry, he played in it for Bournemouth.

i would be delighted if he came here evenif it was just til end of season

I just can`t see it.

There is something about this club that makes it unattractive to high quality players.

Why couldn`t City have got him on loan in the first place. Sorry, have to stop before this turns into a rant.

Sensationalist rubbish. On what basis have you drawn that conclusion??

The reason that City never got Best on loan in the first place is because at that time he was just another promising Championship Academy product. Sometimes these loans work out well, sometimes not so well as with Nick Wright or Calvin Andrews. You can't tell until you sign them. You can't blame Johnson for not being clairvoyant.

Hardly sensationalist, unless lifes so quiet around your neck of the woods. I don`t believe i mentioned GJ in the post.

However i will say that over the last two or three seasons there have been occasions when a bit of quality was available on the market and we`ve been in the frame and its not happened. Don`t come back at me with a who, when and where reply `cos i can`t be arsed to go back through the records.

Its just an opinion.

PS While i rarely like to have a go at fellow supporters, i notice you`ve been a red since 2001, I will back my 35 yrs of support against anyone

Would be great to get him but we will never get me on a perm deal. Southampton rate him well and the southampton lads I know say what a great player he is, though might be a out side chance if they get back in the prem and us into champinship but I doubt it.
