Dirty Tactics

So with heavy rain forcast for the weekend rovers leave their pitch exposed to rain and end up getting their match called off today against Stockport. So is this a tactical thing by the gas? Seems very convenient that they don't have to play today pick up any injuries or bookings before the jpt leg against us on Tuesday. Your thoughts....

It is pretty much an admission by Rovers that this is the most important game they have left this season. Not really dirty tactics - any club with common sense would have done exactly the same (which is probably why we wouldn't have!!).

Well yes it is Greebo because if they have stopped thier game from being played which is very convenient for thier game ahead of us. And it wouldn't suprise me if the :gasmask: had done this just to get any sort of an advantage over us!

So what. Any club believing that their season was over if this game is lost would have done exactly the same. Pointless whining about it. We've just got to go there and turn them over anyway - regardless of what advantage they have tried to give themselves.

Doesnt matter.... they are rubbish they had their full team out last week and we didnt.

If we don't beat them then its embarresing, but then we are expected to win so are in a no-win situation.

Playing football on their rugby pitch will be hard, but they only play long ball rubbish in the fourth division so the advantage is theirs.

One wonders whether they are physically able to do so... not everyone has the capability of covering their pitch against the elements.

The postponement is fortunate for them because it gives their squad a rest and they will be the fresher on Tuesday.

It's no good getting anxious about it - the bottom line is that City should have killed the tie at the Gate - but they didn't because the performance was poor and they weren't at the races, especially in the first half.

I believe it's going to be a big ask for City to go there and win. The Gas have a good chance of turning us over and I wouldn't bet against them.

Think they are able to cover the pitch as there was a request a week or so back on Points West for fans to help remove the covers on a Saturday morning before a match.

Wasnt getting anxious just intrigued how they can get away with it. Surely they should have made provisons and kept the pitch covered. I know we called off a game before the Brighton game but at least we had covers on the pitch!

Is any one supprised they have did it before in 1990 we were due to play them around easter time and they covenently decided not to prepair the trumpton pitch due to them having injuries concern plus they were in bad form while we were flying and all know what happened when the match was played

Yet more sad Gas tactics, they may have even burned down their main stand at Eastville - allegedly - for the insurance money......they'll use every dirty trick in the book to beat us on Tuesday :gasmask: .....

We all 'ate Gascester

We all 'ate Gascester

We all 'ate Gascester

Well done cider head, for supplying the piccies on the Subcider forum of that sad Gashead Eastville stand with the sagging roof burning down. :D .....

I'm not as cynical as you Robins, perish the thought. :whistle2: :whistle2: It never crossed any of their (or our) minds did it????

Although I personally think they did it to give their players a rest, in the hope of being fresher than us "sheeedheads" on Tuesday. As they are going to beat us no matter what....

course, I (we) could be being arrogant and big headed, and being inbred web footed "sheedheads" picking on the "Family" club as well couldnt we............. :fastasleep: :fastasleep: :fastasleep: :fastasleep:

No because we still managed to beat the seagulls today with a professional performance with 6 first team regulars missing. Lets show them sagheads that there is only ONE TEAM IN BRISTOL and put on a performance worthy for the red half of the city. :city:

I think we are being a little bit hypocritical here, we did the same thing earlier this season before the JPT game with Brighton, did we not?

Plenty of City fans on here then smelling a rat.

The gas are desperate, no closer to the play-offs with miniscule crowds and no money.

Beating City would be the highlight of their year, so not surprising they have contrived to get an extra days rest

Waste of time really, because we will beat them Tuesday, and then they can look forward to playing Hereford again....

Yes but we had covers on the pitch something which the sags didnt use. Also just goes to say that they have no ambition for the play offs as they now have 2 matches to play.

Hm, bollox to 'em, they know that if the recent City that in part's of Boro, Coventry, Brighton today and Blackpool turn up - whatever swamp surface - then they ain't going to handle it. Any slight advantage the fearful can muster I s'pose.

I do have quiet concerns myself I must admit but we must rise above this bollox.

I'd almost be temped to put hungry young lads in above that lathargic dazed bunch of pisstakers last week, at least they'd have personal pride and ambition s'pecially without the extautionate wages to their name. Hell man, I'd offer my own services on the house for the course if I could only envoke a bit of fight into the #####'s.

Why did they seem so unmotivated?

Sort it out lads ffs.

I think it was great that there game was called off yesterday. don't you lot realise that there pitch will be in a FAR FAR better condition for US to play our football on NOW. Imagine how bad it would have been on tuesday if they had played on it yesterday.

They have done us a MASSIVE favour by not playing on that pitch yesterday. As for people saying that there team had a rest....who cares...if we cant beat a team who are 14TH IN THE FOURTH DIVISION were not very good.

Saying all this, i must admit that i don't care about a final at Cardiff that doesnt mean ANYTHING, remember walking out after the Carlisle final and thinking, we won but so what!!

Did anyone catch the interview Ali Durdain did on Radio Bristol with Rovers' stadium manager Ian Holtby, just after the postponement was announced yesterday? No disrespect to Ali, but he rather let Holtby off the hook.

The question that was begging to be asked was: "Ian, with heavy rain having been forecast over the past few days, and the scheduled visit today of the most in-form side in the country, followed by Bristol City on Tuesday, can you explain why you didn't cover your pitch with the brand new covers that you used only last week?

You could almost hear the smirk on Holtby's face as he declared how disappointed he was the match was off and how he had to rush off and look after his corporate guests

Yes well I'm fed up with their gloating from last week. We all know that the lads put in a poor performance and will want to make up for it tomorrow night. Lets get behind the team and show why we are proud to be a red than a blue. :city:

they will do anything to gain some sort of advantange.

unfortunatly I don't think having the game off on saturday will make much difference, unless they sign Zidane on a Free over the next 24hrs I can't see them being any better than the first leg, whereas since then we have got it out of system with a morale boosting win at Brighton and more importantly 3 POINTS!
