It certainly looks alright but part of the referees decision making is how far the ball rolls when kicked. If its only a few feet then he has no choice.

so the gas went round taking a few pounds of pressure out of the balls and there you go?! :whistle2:

I have seen games start in far worse conditions than that and the rain stopped not long after 3pm yesterday. Still the referee is completely neutral in these things.....

I was told by a couple of gas heads that the

pitch was playable ,but the game was called off by the POLICE

The reason they gave was that the police wanted to make

sure that Tuesdays game goes ahead.

I am not casting any asspertions, but I just wonder if they have an automatic watering system at the memorial ground, after all a few extra days to get fit, especially after our long Journey to Brighton. :disapointed2se:

Anyone on here remeber that Cup game @ Hereford in 1974? The pitch was under water in places and Ernie Hunt caused a big splash when he was tripped. The game the following week was cancelled when the pitch was 50% drier! The Cup game went ahead I am told, because the Police feared a riot from the thousands of City fans there.

Yes, but you laughed at them, didn't you?

Why would the police care if it was this Tuesday or a month Tuesday?

Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that a referee has to cancel it and at the time it was cancelled it would have been the match referee not a local guy as was the case with our game against Brighton at AG in the JPT?

just looked at the pictures of the rugby pitch , think the reply about the police calling it off is the best shout, does'nt look like the covers worked very well and it must have been hard for the stockport players to walk round it with only there trainers on? wonder if the rugby would of been on today? :englandflag:
