Never to the dark side Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I know the covers have been on at the dump, and we all know water does RISE as well as FALLSI'm not trying to put the mockers on the game not going aheadbut when we win on tuesday we have to play on sunday april 1stthat means the game against forest having to be postponedWhich could mean the forest tie LIVE on SkyDo I want the game to be concluded on tuesday?yes I doSo as I'm not at work on tuesday, if any one wants to hear if the game gets called offdrop yer mobile in the private box and I'll send a text free of charge if it does get called off
BS10 RED Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Its still raining over my way and i live a 15min walk from the rovers dump so it will be close i think.

Bristolian76 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Surely having the pitch covered all day yesterday, overnight and today will ensure the game goes ahead?
Moth Eaten Pillow Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Surely having the pitch covered all day yesterday, overnight and today will ensure the game goes ahead? This is the problem, were talking about the sags here. They've probably covered it with something that resembles a sieve.
Guest Weav Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 GWR said that rovers and city say that the game is going ahead (does anyone want to tell them, its the ref that makes the decison)
Guest Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 GWR said that rovers and city say that the game is going ahead (does anyone want to tell them, its the ref that makes the decison)I would guess there are going to be some 'external' pressures tonight. You've got x amount of police probably on a big overtime packet, you've got all the local pubs losing a days revenue. Do they want that loss of revenue doubled, do the council tax payers want to fork out twice for the police presence? I think not...The weather yesterday should have baked the pitch bone dry, providing they covered it overnight and today I can't see it being a problem tonight.
Robbored Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 The game will definately be on.The pitch has been covered - although why it wasn't covered for saturdays game is anyones guess.....

Andy082005 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 This is the problem, were talking about the sags here. They've probably covered it with something that resembles a sieve.Paul Trollope has been stood in the centre circle since Saturday with an umbrella
Moth Eaten Pillow Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Paul Trollope has been stood in the centre circle since Saturday with an umbrellaMy god haven't the sags come in recent years then.... they've finally invested in an umbrella.
PhatWill Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 You can be sure as hell the game will be on tonight, despite the fact it is still pissing it down in N. Bristol. Not covering the pitch before the Stockport C game was 'not a conspiracy' says Paul Trollope...well it was either that or gross incompetancy. We're going to get wet tonight
bh_red Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 they had a bloody tractor driving up and down on it yesterday digging small holes to help the water drain away.think the last derby game up their few years back when they went down was played in worse condition than the pitch was in on saturday, so don't see why it should be a problem

The rain was torrential I have never got so wet at a football match as I did at the mem in 2001. Great night though.

Id be very surprised if it was called off.
RedM Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 It was said on the radio this morning that the covers will be taken off about 4.00pm and then hopefully rain will fall, giving the pitch a nice bit of zip allowing them (the ) to play their usual good passing game!!!

Didnt think that was possible in league 2.
RedM Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Passing football are you sure about that? Didnt think that was possible in league 2. Don't shoot the messenger I'm only saying what I heard! I must admit it made me smile, I think they believe if they keep saying comments like that it might come true one day! Actually if I am totally honest they didn't 'hoof' the ball as much as I thought they would against us. My brother in law described their strikers as 'a pair of slugs' , trouble is slugs like it wet don't they!!!
