RedM Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I've not thought of tonights match from the player's point of view until I read this on the official site. Gary added: "To reach the final of the competition would offer this group of players, under the new regime if you like, a first chance at a piece of silverware.I've been focusing on the fact that it's a rare derby and the fact that we've done the Mill stad twice before. The league and promotion are the be all and end all requirement for us this season. But from a player's point of view it must be a fantastic incentive to win tonight, a chance to play at a National stadium (gutted it isn't wembley though).
robins72 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Yeah I'm sure the lads would look forward to a trip to Cardiff. It was 4 years ago that we won the ldv. The only players left from that win are Carey and Murray and even theyve left the club and come back!!
Bristol Boy Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Any player at our club, never mind in the team, should want nothing more than to win this game. It's our 100% focus.......TONIGHT.After that we'll worry about the final during the last few days of March and focus on each league game as it comes.....it's a cliche, but it's the right way to approach the season from here on in.Our future in the League & The JPT is totally in our hands. In the final analysis, it's as simple as that.CCCCCHHHHHHHAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEE :Believe: :Believe:
Redtrojan Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Trouble is ,if we get through tonight then there is a worry that players will be looking not to get suspended or injured in the few weeks before the final. This just may affect performances in some very vital and imo much more important league games.Promotion is my only concern this season.I hope it's the managers and players too.

Promotion for them is much less likely no matter what Trollope & Co say, so it's the Paint Pot trophy or nothing for them. It will also be their 1st final at the Mill Stad and they'll want to give their fans the day out.My, selfish, point was that although I've 'been there bought the T shirt' so to speak that many of our players haven't. And if they don't this time who knows when their next chance will be, please NOT the Prayoffs!
