When I seen the first leg i thought it was going close but thought we might have a bit more class well over two games Rovers proved we have not it seems they were better than us again tonight. Still now if we don't win promotion they can't hide behind a Johnston paint trophy trip to the millenium as a sussesfull season

I agree Ashtonyate. There is no hiding place for anyone now - which is good. We simply have to be in the Championship next year or the season has been one big balls up. Onwards and upwards.

Well thankyou for your nice wishes, I'm not coming on here to wind anyone up, basically I have to say that I was dissapointed with City, to those who went and watched is that how you normally play, I know in derby games anything can happen, but I thought that you would of had more, I thought Shouumni looked a ok, but overall Phillips wasn't tested, however I thought we were brilliant tonight, its a shame we cant play like that week in week out.

Thats why this is going to be the highlight of your season. we still have a chance to move on up. enjoy your day.

Thankyou I will, yes you do have a chance of going up, would'nt bet against it all going wrong again though.

I'm dissapointed but i think it shows how far we have come as a club as i'm not gutted about this result. We're moving past rovers as a club, we're beginning to see the bigger picture much more than the local rivalry.

GJ aluded to it in the pre match. It's a massive game for rovers, good atmosphere and well done to them. But for us, meh, yes we'd like to win but promotion is much much more important.

It's a shame that perhaps in the last ever (potentially) and hopefully for a long time Bristol derby we couldn't put on a better display though.

Good luck to Rovers on their day out at Cardiff, saves me the money really and it isn't really that great an experience.

My sentiments entirely...

I wanted to win tonight but now we have lost I simply couldn't care less, three points on saturday and we could be second by 5o/c...I'll take that

Well done Rovers. At least Bristol will be represented in the final.

The fact is we couldn't score a single goal against them over the two games so we didn't deserve to win. Even if Rovers hadn't scored the best we could have achieved was the lottery of a penalty shoot out.

Posted

Me too. This always played second fiddle to promotion so although it would have been good to win I can't genuinely claim to be upset - and that's no false bravado.

But none of this takes away what was an impressive performance by Rovers over 180 minutes. Well played to them - credit where it's due and good luck to them in the final.

My thoughts exactly, didn't really enjoy winning the LDV. Rubbish atmosphere, all you could hear were those damn hooters.

Fair play to the Gas, they deserve their victory. Our performances over the 2 legs shows just what the JPT meant to

our players.

STILL A LOCAL DERBY, WHAT I WANTED TO WIN! Anyone other than the gas, i would except. BUT now the pressure is on GJ to get us out of this S@@tehole of a league!

Well said if it was any other team i would wake up in the morning and it will be all for gotten about i wouldn't mind. But its because its them the dirty pikeys from up the road.

I wasn't at the screening or at the game; but listened in on bcfc world.

I did attend the home leg and it was clear that we needed to up our game for the return, after being matched by rovers for 90 minutes.

I'm massively disappointed, needless to say, especially as it sounded like we lacked the creativity/ width that we did in the home leg.

In my honest opinion, i'm under the impression that rovers were more pysched up over the two games and wanted it more.

Fair play is all i can say, no sour grapes from me.

Lets just put it behind us; our only focus is the league now.

Onwards and upwards :city:

To be honest i think some city fans, rovers fans, police and stewards all let Bristol down. Thats not even mentioning the performance

Well there are plenty of sour grapes from me.

What's going on with all the well done and good luck b####### on this thread? I personally hope the w###### go to Wales, get thrashed, and then the bridge collapses whilst they are crying all the way back home to their north Bristol slum caravan parks.

I have been raised to hate gasheads and just because they played marginally better than us over 180 minutes I'm not going to lose sight of that.

Oooh a little bit touchy this morning are we? Why can't you be like the vast majority of your fans and accept that over the two legs you were crap, and we deserved to go through. You may not want to wish us the best of luck in Cardiff, thats your decision to make, but at least be graceful in defeat.

And why am I here, well I have friends who for some reason decided to support your lot...and I enjoy the banter.

Thats all it is...I'll behave, honest.

Yeah I complete accept that. We deserved it on the night, and you lot have the league to concentrate on, which was obviously your main priority all along. However, any city fan who says that they honestly didn't want to win last night is a liar. Your fans wanted it as much as ours did, but I don't think your players did...personal opinion and all that.

And yes, we will still be in the bottom division next year.

Why are you posting your personal opinion on a City forum? I repeat, what are you doing here?

By the way, don't kid yourself - the vast majority of city fans hate rovers. I won't wish rovers good luck in wales on April Fools Day (very apt) or at any point between now and the rest of my life.

Did you not read my last post? Or do you automatically assume gashead = ####? I'm here because you are our main rivals, and we are yours, no matter what you say. In case you didn't notice we played a game of football last night, and I came to see the reaction of your lot. Am I not allowed to post here because I'm blue not red? Also, I have many friends who support your lot...and you can't tell me where I can and can't post.

Yes I do assume that gashead = ####! You and your gashead chums have done nothing to alter that assumtion in my eyes. You are right - I can't tell you where you can or can't post - but you come on here to gloat, therefore opening yourself up to abusive responses.

Dunno what you mean about 'same old City'. Usually we beat the Gas, and usually we do better in that cup than them, including the two finals in recent memory.

I don't what you mean about our club 'hiding' behind success. We've had a highly competitive season and the table looks very good for us, the lads are giving it a good go.

Let the Gas have their minor moment this time round. I get the feeling that we'll be enjoying a hell of a lot more glory than them in the next few years.

Well I think you need to grow up a bit then mate. If you automatically assume gashead = #### then you really do have some problems, or no friends. I don't think I've been gloating that much to be honest. After the predictions from many of you lot that the game would be over after the first leg, and when you didn't do the job then that it would be over in the second, I think I have a right to see your reaction to actually losing the tie.

Well to be honest the only reason I am still here is because I'm a lazy-student bum who has finished his work for the day at 11am...how about you? Why are you on here all day?

The same old city that can't Handel pressure our home game against rovers is what lost us the tie .We just never turned up we had a big crowd of supporters some who may not have watched city for a while and the team bottled it big time.

As to the other point the manager or club cannot hide behind a trip to the millenium as a sussesfull season. Which could happen if we don't go up, only promotion now will mean we had a good season

Ok the nice polite City fans have said well done, but lets not get carried away. We have got slated for only creating 5/6 chances over 2 games and rightly so, but Rovers didn't create one. Last nights goal came from a scramble in the box which ran loose to a sag head. Your not telling me that a team that has one shot on goal over 180 mins "deserves" to win a tie.

That was probably the worse rovers side i've seen, which makes it worse that we didnt turn up for either of the games.

Oh well it extends their season till they lose on April 1st. Lets make sure that we're in the Championship next year and put even more space between us !

spot on, although I wanted to win, I'm actually not that bothered in defeat really, bigger picture is promotion.........THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS

only promotion now will mean we had a good season

So we finish:

1st-2nd = good season

3rd-6th = good season if we win play-off, absolute miserable failure of a season (sack the players, boss, board) if we don't.

7th-24th = suicide

I never realised it was all so clear cut!

Agree with that, I'm very p##### off that we lost to the pile of s### called Rovers, but it looks fairly clear that the players couldnt care less or understand the concept of a fierce local derby, very dissapointed in them tbh.

But you can't slag off the players on OTIB if you kill yourself. Ashtonyate does has at least that to live for...
