Kibs Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Now before anyone starts, I'm a Johnson fan and still have faith in him but sometimes his team selections and tactics are baffling to say the least!I hope he has the bottle to say he got it wrong, We are never going to score in a million years with a line up consisting of 4 centre half's, A right back, 2 centre midfielders and 3 strikers!! I realise we are injury it and have players cuptied but how can you expect to create anything with that sort of line up!! Theres better balance in my bank account and that aint exactly healthy!Stroll on saturday where we MUST WITHOUT FAIL bounce back and get 3 points.
Redhyde Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 It was another weird line-up from GJ.5 defenders 2 midfielders and 3 strikers in a mess of a formation. We'll have much more options on Saturday and no doubt we'll play a sensible formation and team too.
i_am_red Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 And please GJ save the crap excuses don't make us anymore of a luaghing stock
Guest midlandno2 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I'd be amazed if GJ takes any blame for this. 5 defenders at home in the first leg against a mid table division four team is not good enough. I want to see us bully teams at AG not defend and try to counter, GJ grow some balls!!!
Brianred Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 And please GJ save the crap excuses don't make us anymore of a luaghing stockGJ needs to find the winning formula, then keep it, NO more chopping and changing! Has he too many players to keep happy?
Clevedon Red Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 GJ needs to find the winning formula, then keep it, NO more chopping and changing! Has he too many players to keep happy? He found the winning formula in the last 2 away games when he had other players available. Have faith.
samo Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 GJ owes us a promotion! Like Clevedon Red said, we've got crucial wins away recently and so let us put this behind us and look for a responce on saturday against Northampton.COME ON YOU REDS!
exiledinwatford Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 He found the winning formula in the last 2 away games when he had other players available. Have faith. Our squad was easily good enough - he screwed up last Wednesday.Northampton need to be on the end of a backlash. I think GJ will get the squad in the right frame of mind - I hope he does particularly from the start!
Percy Parrot Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I too like Johnson but think over the two games he got it wrong. If we play a simple game (simple formation, simple passes etc) we know we are better than the Rovers. Messing things about gives them a great chance to get it wrong. Over the two games Rovers deserved the win, we didn't look like we would score and we did lack quality- but I think this was mainly because of the formation. We never really got in behind them.Over 2 games, 4-4-2 we'd have done them in my opinion.
Admin Maesknoll Posted February 28, 2007 Admin Posted February 28, 2007 GJ needs to find the winning formula, then keep it, NO more chopping and changing! Has he too many players to keep happy? The chopping and changing was enforced though, cup tied and injured players unavailable.Over the two legs we were suckered in and drawn down to their level, I've got bloody neckache for the amount of time that the ball was in the air..............
Portishead Red Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Guys don't aim your anger at johnson, sure he was the one who put out the team and tactics but it was the PLAYERS who totally bottled it. They wernt up for it and looked like they didnt even want to be there.Midfield last night (comments based on last night only)Johnson - cant tackle cant head and based on last night, cant passNoble - cant tackle cant head and has one pace - slowShowunmi - is NOT a midfielder - didnt want to be there, waste of spaceKeogh - Best of a bad bunch. Commited and would run through brick walls, easily our best player - then taken off!!!!!!!£500k down the pan whichever way you look at it. IF we do go up we are going to get a hiding nearly every week.WE NEED WINGERS JOHNSON, NOT STRIKERS WHO HAVE NEVER SCORED IN ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just what we need. Although i think hes injured at the mo...

dezgimed Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Cant stand Johnson post matches..''In hindsight...we lacked quality...commitment...desire...blah blah blah..''Why doesnt he make sure the players have these qualities beforehand?Ugh

Keepers Ball Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 A mate sent me some comments by email.I don't know if they were posted on here but heres one.Why is it that whenever we lose Gary 'I'm so brilliant I can't manage players who have played higher than I've managed'Johnson blames the players, I applaud him for saying the tactics were wrong but why did 'we' get the tactic wrong yet when things go well it's 'I' directly made that goal by shouting to take a quick free kick etc.. He got rid of all the quality just like at Yeovil when he couldn't manage McIndoe and where is he now - Wolves just outside the play offs and could be in the premier next year. He thinks he is bigger than the club and is the biggest self publicist I have ever come across in 48 years following the City. Robin, AshtonHit the nail on the head I reckon.

Somertonian Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 GJ took Yeovil from the Conference to League 1 then aadmitted that he could not take them further and moved to City. After raiding the little club down the road of key players, GJ has, potentially, taken City to the play-offs in his first full season. That's not a bad result, is it?Meanwhile, Russell Slade clearly doesn't suffer the same limitations as GJ and has taken Yeovil to a simialr position in his first season at Yeovil. I note that there are no baby Slades in the Yeovil team - but that may or may not be significant.I'm sure fans at every club are more ambitious than their boards. Managers and players do the job for the money. Fans follow clubs because they do.Anybody fancy a City vs Yeovil play-off final?GG
Chappers Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 As we were staring at the Police last night, we all agreed that GJ would just find fault with the players and overlook his inept tactics. Hardly a stunning prediction as he always does that after a defeat. We lacked wide players... But where was Jennison? What was Plan B, or was that bringing on Skuse? Rovers won because they had a plan, the players stuck to it, and they had a good team shape. We spent 180 minutes bumbling around in the type of disorganised shambled that Tinnion used to create.GJ just needs to accept that he was at fault, and get on with planning to defeat Northampton, and keep Dr Deuchar quiet.

It's like Billy Davies in the championship. He left Preston in a good position to go to a bigger club (Derby), they're both in pretty much the same position as each other. Who knows how good the Preston manager is yet? Russell Slade wasn't exactly awe inspiring at Grimsby. And McIndoe is a twonk, ask any Doncaster fan!
cidercity1987 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 It makes me laugh...These big players GJ has 'mismanaged' at City, where are they now?Phillips: Playing league 2 football.Stewart: Playing for Yeovil and scored 1 goal since beginning of Jan. Bridges: Not getting in a struggling Hull team.Boohoo. If we don't get promoted this season then GJ is going to feel the pressure from this failure against Rovers. But he is the right man for the job imo, and we've got a great chance of going up (in which case, who gives two hoots that Rovers beat us when we'll be 2 leagues above them?)
Guest Bluebeard Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Over 2 games, 4-4-2 we'd have done them in my opinion.I think if we'd scored another goal it would've been 2-0 on aggregate.
