054123 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I wish we would've won last night (like every other city fan), but only because we were playing Rovers. This whole competition (despite the obvious benefits) really has failed to spark any excitement and to be fair I'm only pee'd off this morning because i know we let ourselves down.I personally couldn't give a toss about the JPT and am far more concerned about getting three points on Saturday. It'll be hard being gracious in defeat this week in work, but seriously, is anyone that bothered in light of the fact that if we concentrate on whats important, we will open next season in front of a sell out crowd against West Ham, while rovers struggle (again) to break the 5,000 barrier at home to Gravesend? The fact that everyone knows this was their biggest game in 8 years and will no doubt be the highlight of the season, does put a little smile on my face. As i said, if I'm honest every league game from here on in holds far more importance for me than last night ever could. Fair play to Rovers, Trollope did his homework and ground out a 1-0 win over two legs. But don't get to depressed boys, there are far more important things to concentrate on this season!!!!
Guest Masta Z Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Can you blame us? 6 years of crap football against crap teams in the basement league is hardly anything to shout about. If you had won last night and then missed out on promotion then it would be the highlight of your season too, FACT. Our support wen unbelievable and pissed all over the atmosphere at the Gate. I was in the Bass end and the difference in support was clear, you didn't even cap your side off at half time! (from what I saw anyway). Also, at 1-0 you did nothing to get your team going and push for an equaliser, it was silent down there in the away end.Let us have our moment, you lost to the better side on the night.

Trollope watched Cheltenham beat us, took the right notes and managed to keep it tight then nick the odd goal at the end of 180 minutes football. A win is win and you got it.As for highlight of the season, do you really believe that? I don't. Saturday is far more important. We are a Championship club in waiting and need to make sure we get there in Johnson's first full season in charge.I would take nothing away from you in terms of doing the rights things to get through last and you will have a great time in Cardiff, just don't loose sight of the important things and make sure you concentrate on moving out of the bottom half of English professional football's lowest division.Well done!!

You deserve promotion but you really need to up you game. I was expecting you to win 2-0 last night but you never really got going. You have some talented players, especially Brooker who gave 110% all night and I was always worried when he picked up the ball. The only advice I could give to GJ is to get City to shoot more really as you had so much possession around the box but chose to lump it to Showumni who doesn't seem to fit as a left winger.Anyway, good luck!

You only have to look at our performances at Oldham, Blackpool, Coventry, Brighton and Middlesborough (all in the last wo months) to know we've got it about ourselves to play excellent football and go up. The annoying thing is we just didn't turn up over the two legs. It hurts that we lost you lot, but not that we lost in the competiton (i seem to remeber being just as apathetical after we lost at the same stage to Cambridge). If you haven't before, the Mill Stad is immense!! I know 'cause we've been their twice !
