Tinmansleftboot Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Is it really the end of the world that we lost to the Gas? I don't think it is. Over the last few weeks the lads attention seems to have been directed towards the Boro and Rovers cup ties. To be perfectly honest I'm actually sadened that we didn't get knocked out of both the FA and Jnst Trophy earlier. Ok, getting beaten by the Gas is never fun but let them enjoy their trip to Cardiff. The way they celebrated their win showed just how much it meant to beat us and get to the final. If that's all they have to look forward to for the next few seasons then good luck to them. Hopefully we can go forward and gain promotion, thus belittling their ( potential ) Trophy win!He who laughs last laughs loudest!!!!!
Guest Bluebeard Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Is it really the end of the world that we lost to the Gas?Yes. It means your shit.
Tinmansleftboot Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 Yes. It means your shit.Mmmmm.....I see your vocabulary is improving!! And yes, for 180 mins of footie your right. We were.I actually wouldn't mind seeing you lot win the Trophy in Cardiff. It's good for Bristol football. But please remember it is the Cup for, well you know the word, teams!!!
cidercity1987 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Yes. It means your shit.Coming soon to a Championship football ground near you: The Shit!
Guest TheBerkeleyBoy Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I does matter but yes I think cup games do effect league performance and cause injuries (ie Scotty) We will all forget the pain when we win promotion and look at the fixture list next season and compare it to the gas fixtures
Redtucks Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Yes. It means your shit. One division above you this season, probably two above you next season!!! Looking forward to Accrington Stanley again next year???
Bristolian76 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 It certainly does matter, any game against the gas matters, but in the grand scheme of things it doesnt compare to the ultimate goal of promotion.

Point two this was a game we wanted to win all the crap about not mattering is rubbish the 16,000 that turned up at Ashton and the 3,000 that went to the Mem were going to see their team win, the team wanted to win.Now if we can't perform then it does not hold for the rest of the season when we will be playing more presser games so don't tell me it does not matter

But does it REALLY matter in the grand scale of things. Ok the money would be nice but picture yourself sitting in front of your pc in a couple of months having won the JT and ending up playoff flops again! Let them have fun in cardiff..This is the acid test of their support....Will they take 35-40,0000 to the Mil Stad..I think not!!

We have the support, and as you know we can look after ourselves now..just concentrate on the league or your crowds ,ll go down and down.Have a nice day

Why do you constantly keep going on about the "dark days" - have a little think about the present times - they are hardly glory days for you are they? You are currently stuck right in the middle of your "dark days" and the way the season is panning out it looks like you've got another season of basement gloom to look forward to next season - whilst we are striving to head in the right direction - this is down to something called ambition. All you have achieved this season is a win over City in two very poor games of football and despite facing another season in the basement division you come on here to mouth off and you people celebrated on the pitch like you won the world cup. Well if you view that as successful - it shows how far you have sunk and what your club and fans aspire to.We may have got lower gates than you when we were in the basement division, but that was a very long time ago and the game and the whole matchday experience has changed beyond recognition since the early 80s - we are talking about a completely different generation of football supporters so you'd have to be some kind of clueless #### to compare such a thing.
PhatWill Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 At the end of the day, 180 minutes of football and one result against us doesn't make up for the fact that we are top dogs in Bristol and have been for the best part of 100 years. In the past 20 years you're looking at maybe 2/3 seasons when the gas have been above us in the league rankings. In the last decade you're looking at that one season when they spectacularly bottled it and missed out on the play-offs, as the only time I've really thought they had a better team than us.We're still number one in Bristol and will be for years to come. Rovers JP Trophy final appearance will ensure they're in the basement for another season, as we well know it provides a nasty distraction.
Guest Hodges17 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Yes, you're in a higher league, yes, you're going for promotion, yes thats more important. We know. But just don't pretend that Tuesday night hurt you.
