Robbored Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 The two performances against the gas were both dire and frankly City got what they deserved - nothing. That said the derby games were not the first time that City have failed to perform to the right standard recently. Defeat at home to Ch'nam away at Scunny and then a disapointing home draw against H'field - but in between some very good performances against 'Boro with wins at Brighton and B'pool as well.City are very capable of playing some very goood football but against the gas at the Mem all we saw was one long punt up the pitch after another. It was sooooo frustrating to watch. It was hard to believe that these players were pretty much the same ones who took a premiership club right down to the wire.City's inconsistancy has got to the point where we just don't know what team is going to turn up.Take Saturdays game against N'hampton - on paper City should win and you would think that we would all be confident of getting the right result but how many of us really are confident? Not me - simply because I can't predict what kind of performance we'll see.It could be that City play well and win at a canter but then again we could just as likely see a poor show and a disapointing draw or even a defeat. The question is - why the inconsistancy? S****hopre are very consistant and thats why they are 11 points ahead of City. Johnson and Millen have to work it out and get the players peforming at the level they are capable of every game from here on in.No point having games in hand if you lose them.Any explanations as to reasons behind the inconsistancy would be very welcome....
bh_red Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 with these cup games we are constantly having to juggle the team due to players being cup tied and various injuries, i'm sure if McAllsiter and Murray had been fit for the Rovers game we would have been looking at a different result.Glad the cups are out the way, now Wilson and Betsy can hopefully can on their decent league form and help the team up the table.either way the next fortnight is Vital to our season, 4 games that will make or break our season

cidernuta Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 We have had a good season! remember a football club can not win every game in a season...!
Redhyde Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 What's wrong with city? Not much. We've lost 4 games in 26 inc a penalty shopotout away at boro. In the league we've lost 2 in 16.We're 4th, with two games in hand on the first and second teams. Yes it's not guarenteed points i know. We've just won away from home twice against good teams in the league. All this despite six or so players out injured! We've got a great chance of going up this year with a relatively good run in.Stop overreacting to individual results people! We've had a good cup run and we're probably going to be second when we play our games in hand. I'd take that every year were it offered at the start of the season.6 games ago, S****horpe were level on points with us having played a game more. They weren't galacticos then, and they aren't now. They're on form, but it can dip, just like it did with four sucessive draws for them in January.

What if City play on Saturday like they did against the gas or against Cheltenham? They'll lose thats what. The inconsistancy shown over virtually the whole season is a major worry imo - and it needs to sorted out.City can't afford anymore poor performances with promotion so close and top of the table so tight.
Guest Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 We could beat Forest,Yeovil and Swansea and then lose on Sat and to Brentford you should know anything could happen at any City game and probably will. This has happened for quite a while now, although we do go on little unbeaten runs now and then. Why is this, pass, maybe the lesser teams i.e Sag game, raise their game against the more fancied teams as we maybe do against Coventry,Middles, etc;Could be some players feel they don't have to try so hard against some teams and just turn up; this has happened in the first halves of a few games sometimes they wake up for the second half sometimes they don't.The players should be up for every game and give 110% when they are there are not many teams that can live with us.

You didn't post this after the Brighton game. You posted after a dissapointing defeat. You've pointed out that we've lost games. Everyone has, it's a very even league. We've played badly and won games and lost when we've played well enough to win or draw. The fact that we as i've pointed out lost 4 in 26 shows we're not inconsistant. The fact we're fourth with games in hand also shows that.Does it not concern you that City can seemingly but a top performance (Brighton last saturday) and then go out and play as they did on Tuesday night? What if City play on Saturday like they did against the gas or against Cheltenham? They'll lose thats what.Yes it concerns me and of course they will, but we've not done that so many more times this season. We are 4th. We're in the results business, so far so good on that front. I'm sure we'll be back to league form on Saturday. No team plays well every week. It's finding ways to win when you're not that counts. Demanding consistantly good performances at this level is dreamland IMOThe inconsistancy shown over virtually the whole season is a major worry imo - and it needs to sorted out.City can't afford anymore poor performances with promotion so close and top of the table so tight.Of course we can afford poor performances, what matters is how we deal with them. Our longest losing streak since August is 2 GAMES. That's not inconsistancy. We haven't been out the top six since the 16th of SEPTEMBER. Again that's not inconsistancy. There will be ups and downs over the 13 games remaining. If we're as inconsistant as we have been so far, we'll be second and promoted at the end of the season! SO roll on the "inconsistancy"
RedM Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I don't know if GJ has really found his idea team yet. Either it's because of injuries, suspensions, players having been 'away', or just not being in form at the right time. We seem to be very inconsistant.Have we brought in 1 or 2 players too many, or have they just not been the right ones? I'm baffled how we are in such a good league position, sometimes I really just don't understand how we've managed to get there and can't wait until everything clicks into place and we give some team a hiding!I've noticed that the ball does get lumped up the field to Brooker when he has played lately, guess they are being told to do so? Also our midfield changes every week along with the formation lately. It seems to be the direct route to Brooker or overcooking it in midfield, we need to find some middle ground. Don't know about confusing the opposition it seems to confuse us alright! When they play well I feel so proud, but when they don't I feel really frustrated and GJ probably does too, over to him then!!!
