Swans skipper to sit out season

Pratley's injury leaves Swansea short of midfield options.

Swansea captain Darren Pratley needs shoulder surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old midfielder, standing in as skipper for long-term absentee Garry Monk, dislocated his shoulder in last month's 2-0 loss to S****horpe United.

He was initially expected to be out for a month, but a much longer recovery time is now anticipated.

"A scan revealed he had torn structures in the shoulder joint and it needs an operation," said physio Richie Evans.

"It looks as if it will be two to three months of rehab."

Fellow midfielder Darren Way will definitely miss the rest of the season with his shin injury.

Adebayo Akinfenwa Kevin Austin, Izzy Iriekpen, Richard Duffy, Owain Tudur Jones, Steve Watt and Shaun MacDonald are also on Swansea's injury list.

Dennis Lawrence and Kevin Amankwaah are suspended for Saturday's game against Leyton Orient at the Liberty Stadium.

Seem to be having as bad a time as we've had lately and makes our efforts to stay in contention all the more laudable.

Them and Oldham have really copped it with injuries over the last few weeks, which is no bad thing if you look at how it could help us. What seems almost funny is that our last outstanding performance was against a near full strength Oldham side, most of whom had participated in demolishing Forest at the turn of the year.

If we beat them whilst still strong it's no wonder others are taking points off them in their current state. My only hope is they pick up form against Yeovil in a few weeks, cause that could be a crucial game as regards our chances for second place.

Boy am I glad that GJ didn't go back to Yeovil and sign Darren Way, he's got an availability record that must be the worst in our division since he joined Swansea. he's made 6 starts in 15 months!
