Guest ashtonyate Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I have been thinking I am still mad with City after our two games against rovers.I have a season ticket so by not going i would be cutting my nose of to spite my face so how else can you show your displeasure. You could boo them on to the field, a bit harsh, give them a slow hand clap, or my favorite face away from the pitch. Any other ideals??
Guest STA-BS14 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 support the team in our fight for promotion matey......

Any other ideals??Do you honestly believe that the players are unaware of some of the fans 'displeasure'? Why do you need to do anything other than try and help get us out of this poxy division by supporting the team.If it really is so dreadful for you, do everyone a favour and stay away, or alternatively you could move on, the gas game is in the past.

WHAT IS THE BLOODY POINT, nobody made him go, someone else would have gladly had his ticket.I'm not Lee Johnsons biggest fan, but hes had a great deal of assists and scored a blinder not so long ago, the manager picks the team, and Lee is always going to come in for that extra bit of stick because his Dad is the manager, now I see why he was so reluctant to come here in the first place. You don't have to like the decisions he makes but you do have to respect them, otherwise don't COME. Same as you don't have to go down the Gate on a Saturday or whenever, its not compulsory, but don't bloody turn up there and then spend the whole game whinging like a kid or booing or anything else when it doesnt always go our way, thats really going to help the team aint it?Simple as! Guest RobtheRed Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I for one am fed up with the rubbish performances we see at City. On some occasions this season we've played quite frankly, below expectations. On many occasions under this Johnson regime I've seen players misplace passes, shoot wide and even get tackled. I'm disgusted that we only beat Brighton 2-0 and literally cannot believe that we were unable to beat the gas 100-0. I intend to pour petrol over myself and burn outside the Gate as a protest against this inept club and it's appalling manager/players/board. I IMPLORE you all to join me in this before it's too late!

So we lost against a poor 4th division team and our arch enemies at that. No one was more disappointed than me the other night but if your a genuine fan you'll get over it and support the boys to Promotion !!!Booing the team or players only encourages the opposition.... So lets all get behind the boys in Red C.T.I.D

Guest RobtheRed Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 However you do it, the important thing is that you let the players know that they let you down on Tuesday. If there's one thing that will really inspire them against Northampton it's knowing that you are displeased. How about taking a "I am displeased" banner to the game on Sat? Or repeatedly shouting "I'm a disgruntled fan" at whichever player you think let you down the most on Tuesday.

Jay Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Yea well i would expect that from the happy crappy lotPast your bedtime? *sigh*Come on Yate - construct a good arguement as to why we should slate & boo our team. Since when has negativity been productive in this manner? Sorry dude, but I will cheer on Saturday regardless.
Guest RobtheRed Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 How about loudly humming to show our displeasure? like at school. The players and GJ wouldn't know who was doing it and would get really frustrated.Or we could all refuse to cheer any goals we score unless the players apologise for the poor performance on Tues.
bartolona Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I have a sneaking feeling the players might know we're not best pleased at the moment.
Tunley Legend Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 You've just got to keep coming, support the boys and keep the faith Ashtonyate. You are not the only supporter disappointed with certain events at Ashton Gate. But we must get behind the team for the next 13 cup finals that we have to play.Another way to show your displeasure, Ashtonyate, like many "uber" fans on here do, is to exhibit a "holier than thou attitude". Unilaterally decide that your support is better than everyone elses. Tell your fellow supporters to not bother turning up if they have a different approcah to yours. Tell people to "fork off up the Gloucester Road" because you, paying your £17 like the rest of us, KNOW that their money is not needed by the club and, most certainly, is not as important as your money. Take it upon yourself to be official club spokesperson and decide who is fit to pass through Ashton Gate and who isn't. You know who you are - GROW UP.

Guest ashtonyate Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Id rather be happy clappy than a miserable old sod.Like I said support the team or don't bother coming. You are right i am miserable old sod made more miserable by a team of bottler who cannot beat a team 1 1/2 divisions below them and people like you who say support them unconditionally if that result was in teams around different parts of the country the fans would have gone ape s hit but we in this area are use to it.Thats why we been in the 3 division so long

BristolCity1992 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 To be honest I thought I was going to be gutted when and if we lost to Rovers however, I took one look at the league table and it made me happy again even happier when I saw where they were and still will be for the next 2-3 years at least.

PFree Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Best idea is for you to come along on Saturday, stand up during a quiet moment, and start singing ....."City til I die" at the top of your voice. If more people were prepared to start a song, what a great place the Gate would be!?More than ever, we need ALL fans to get behind the side. They feel the disappointment, as much as you and I, and will be as disappointed as you and I, so play your part please by SUPPORTING your team. Thanks in advance of your continued support in getting us out of this division. TOGETHER, we can do this, ...BELIEVE!!! We "can-do" this!!!It's absolutely crucial we ALL get behind them on Saturday and I for one will be playing my part..!Roll on the end of the Season when we can all celebrate going up
cider head Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I am peed right off with the result but we can't cry over spilt milk forever, got to pick ourselvesup, dust ourselves down and fight for promotion as belive me it hurt far more vs brighton for me than it ever didagainst the gas.
Dollymarie Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 My point is how do you show your displeasure with your team when they let you down big time its a discussion argumentBut whats the point, they know they let themselves and us down, why rub it in further? Whats done is done and we cant change it now.
bartolona Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 My point is how do you show your displeasure with your team when they let you down big time its a discussion argumentYou can't at such an important stage of the season they will feel very down about the Sag games, but it's up to us to lift them so it does'nt ruin the whole season.
cidercity1987 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Nice post mate the problem is I have been watching this rubbish from the early 50s and the Rovers result is one of the poorest in all that time. My point is how do you show your displeasure with your team when they let you down big time its a discussion argumentThe answer is be silent when they leave the pitch, as against Rovers, lick your wounds then come back for the next match with a positive attitude and get behind the team.

RedM Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I'm intrigued how long you will be able to do your prefered method of protest, facing away from the pitch, before a steward, or the person who's view you are blocking, tells you to sit down!If of couse you sit in your seat and face the other way, then good luck to you, the seats are cramped enough if you sit properly never mind what you are attempting!

Yes we all get fed up, but the true supporter has his/her moan, sulks for a few days maybe then sets off for the next match ready to SUPPORT his /her chosen side. I`ve supported City for 35 yrs or so, from the heady heights of promotion to the old div 1 and then all the way to the bottom of the footy league. Believe me, those were the desperate times, god forbid we ever have to go throught that again. It puts a 2 leg defeat to the gas into perspective. You`ve had your protest now do what every City fan should be doing Sat, get down the gate and support them. If, and i know its an if, we end up in the championship next year all this will be forgotten.PDG

Roger Red Hat Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 What about a sort of 'cloud' that would be similar to a lavatory cystern supported by wires that you could attach say 20 cms above your head and at a given time a 'flush' type lever could be pulled and rain could fall all over oneself thereby signifying how miserable one felt at the defeat by the gas.
robins72 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I think the problem with Ashton yate is the same problem that alot of fans that still go to the gate have. HE has fallen out of love with his football club. Its something he has done for many years on a Saturday and if he didnt go to watch them wouldnt know what else to do. Same as the bloke that sits behind me on matchdays moans for 90 minutes slagging off Jevons the ref the manager etc. If that is the case and I'm correct Ashtonyate why don't you just stop going? I'm sure you could just put the teletext on or something? Be an armchair supporter because your negativity just gets others aggitated. WEre not living through rose tinted glasses here because we have failed for alot of seasons. However I think we have improved in the last year with Johnson as manager and hope that this could be our season. Keep believing those who still can cos it WILL happen.

Frenchay Red Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 QUOTE(ashtonyate @ Mar 1 2007, 6:35 PM) I have been thinking I am still mad with City after our two games against rovers.I have a season ticket so by not going i would be cutting my nose of to spite my face so how else can you show your displeasure. You could boo them on to the field, a bit harsh, give them a slow hand clap, or my favorite face away from the pitch. Any other ideals??I am thinking much the same about you mate. I reckon I've been following them for about the same number of years and have seen many many games against the Dark Side. Most of them, to my mind, a damn sight more important than this tinpot trophy job. Biggest gut wrencher has to be when they did us 3-0 to win the championship of the old div 3. We still went up but it certainly was a bitter pill to swallow. League games always had a real edge to them 'cause although we knew (thought!) we were better, we could only prove it by beating them. These days there is no contest. They are so far behind us in every way they are really a non entity. Our locals rivals in order of ability are Yeovil, Cheltenham and Swindon. So what, we played rubbish and got punished. My own preference would have been to have beat them and then withdrawn from the competition. I don't want a tinpot final this year. Done 'em all, and after beating Bolton in the first and losing to Mansfield in the second they have lost their appeal. If you think winning it is important just cast your mind back to the defeat by Stoke and then think about how you felt when we lost to Brighton in the play-off final. Thats when it really matters and when it hurts so much. The biggest game last week was Brighton. The biggest this week is Northampton. We all want flair, style etc etc but if all we get is points, I for one will be elated. Got to get out of this league!

My point is how do you show your displeasure with your team when they let you down big time its a discussion argumentI took it badly too mate and said things I shouldn't have but the thing is in life those we love the most sometimes let us down so badly we could kill them (e.g. kids, girlfriends, wives, boyfriends and husbands for the ladies on here) but because we love them so much we forgive them, kiss and make up and get on with life. Same with our football team I reckon, you can't live life in the past, what's done is done, so its a case of on with the next game.
redseptember Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Why not tut really loudly and shake your head at the same time? This can be repeated throughout the game and then 'what ARE we to do with you?' can be added when we resort to the McCombe centre-forward hoofball routine.
