Ashton Gate

While at the game v Northampton I took a bit of time to look around Ashton Gate. From the Dolman I honestly can't see why we need to spend massive amounts on the ground or move to a new MacStadium. Ok the sun was shining in my face all afternoon, but I think the stadium looks great. It's a bit dated but it has the appearance of a real football ground. With some well thought-out improvements here and there I think the facilities can be kept up-to-date and we get to keep our 'spiritual' home.

I think your ground just needs a bit of spring cleaning and updating. Lets face it though, you haven't got any impressive Facades to keep.

I just would like the East End made into a biggish stand, like the Atyeo, then it would look good.

Hopefully bigger than the Atyeo if that was possible. If we could improve the Williams and maybe fill in the gap between that and the Atyeo then our ground would look sweet. That could possibly add around 8,000 to the capacity, which would surely last us for a long time?

That's just as well because I can't see City in a new stadium any time soon.

I can see a new stand (EE) and my only concern that it will be a 5,000 Seater to replace a 5,000 seater which, at a cost of £8m is bananas.

It would have my wholehearted support were it 10,000 as originally planned c/w Exec Boxes (Not ideal behind the goal but there's no room elsewhere without major reconstruction) & Conf Facilities.

At 5,000 I don't see how we fund it, even on the basis that we filled it every week, which I doubt.

A new ground along the lines of MK Dons, which I've visited 2/3 times, would be £42m, so go figure.

Replacing the Dolman seats would give the whole place a huge face-lift.

Agreed and I can't think why it wasn't done when the conferencing facilities were carried out last close season.

Yes however we do have parking, very few students and people do actually come here every other week, not just for special occassions when you play a big team :mf_sleep:

Oh, I meant to ask.......how was Accrington and, supposing you do stay up, are you looking forward to going next season :whistle2:

Unfortunately I didn't go last night, working full time means it's hard to make it to night matches in Lancashire. Hopefully they will stay up as I would like to take in another ground. Accrington scored against us apparently a massive team didn't. :)

Lots of love and a big 1-0.

Thats where the proposed new stand was going to be (and could still be) No doubt the EE is a very tired, old fashioned and with a low salient which provides a crap view.It could do with rebuilding.Maybe even a two tier stand which would significantly increase the capacity. The corner by the Dolman could also be closed in to provide extra seating. But its all about money.....

Most fans would agree but the problem is that upgrading the Dolman seating would do nothing to increase capacity.I would much rather the club spent money on a new stand than new seating that would be little more than a cosmetic exercise.

As long as they don't start joining up the stands, I think that modernisation would be a good idea. I can't stand (along with most people I thnk) these new 'bowl' stadiums. Leicesters for example, big bowl, no difference between ends and sides, yet they still call each end and side a different 'stand' name

I think we should keep our spiritual home, modernising it as we rise up the league, ready to host Barcelona in the 2010 Champions League :noexpression: :winner_third_h4h:

You've had your moment, can't you leave us alone now?

or is the draw of keeping tabs on a team going for promotion too much to resist?

Enjoy your pointless day out in baardiff
