Red Robin Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I am just trying to gage everyones feelings!Question will we choke and end up in the play offs? Yes or nolong way to go city have history of bottleing it.
Fodbarmyarmy Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 long way to go city have history of bottleing it.Like when Robin?True we have missed out on playoffs & promo etc by a few points or goal diff etc but I can't recall us being in a similar positon (2nd ) this close to the end of the season and not making it count
Guest City Scout Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 No. This year we will do it. We need to get as many points as we can in March though, as April's games look a lot harder.Cant face the Play Offs again, so top 2 our priority.
B-Rizzle Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think we can...We've said for years "we can get promoted"...but i cant remember a time when we've been in as good a position for a long time...It's completely in our own hands.Lets do it!
farmeronecow Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 no play offs for us, we're going up in the top two.
redsince82 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 heart says NOhead still unsure...... but no matter what else happens between now and may, i will always stay positive
solo1bc Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I am just trying to gage everyones feelings!Question will we choke and end up in the play offs? Yes or noWell, I would have said No until you jinxed it! This is Bristol City, can we all just hold it down a bit at least until we've played our other game in hand...I'd prefer it if we didn't even talk about promotion until then!
pdgifford64 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 This is our season....BelieveIbelieved in `04, we only needed to win one game then. We are in a great position, but one similar to the xmas period that we failed to capitalise. Looking at the recent results of Forest, Yeovil and Oldham a slump is only one game away. For me the talk has to be of supporting the team for EVERY match of the run in. If we win every game, fantastic, but the liklihood is that at some point there may be result or two that goes against us. That will get the doom merchants back on their perches.I believe, i pray, i support............but my feet will stay firmly on the ground until the point where we are mathematically guaranteed promotion.PDG
Portishead Red Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 It will be fine - i havent been this confident since i said we'd beat rovers comfortably in the JPT...
tom buck Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 i think if we get stuck in the play offs, i would be preety confident that we could win them.
BS10 RED Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 No i think we will do it as long as we keep behind the boys even if we lose a couple of our reameaning games
Guest mesa boogie Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think you'll choke, you choked against us so I feel you'll choke again...Sorry..
Portishead Red Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think you'll choke, you choked against us so I feel you'll choke again...Sorry..How are you getting on in divsion 4? Are you still chasing the play off's? Great draw at the mighty Accrington Stanley by the way!
pdgifford64 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think you'll choke, you choked against us so I feel you'll choke again...Sorry..You`re entitled to your opinion. Who knows what will happen. But i feel your opinion is biased. Enjoy your day out. Over 2 legs you edged it and deserve to be there. If you feel you can make an intelligent and inciteful comment about our final 12 games of this season, backed up with some sound reasoning feel free to return and enter into debate.I look forward to it...but i`m not going to hold my breath.
Brianred Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think you'll choke, you choked against us so I feel you'll choke again...Sorry..No, we just dropped to you level, and what a drop that is! But we are on the UP
Guest Paisley Bud Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Never mind the top two what I want to know is if you think you can win the league?I did you lot at 6/1 in a treble with Gretna and Morton at the start of the season. It's worth about 2 grand to me.So can you do it?
BigTone Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think you'll choke, you choked against us so I feel you'll choke again...Sorry..Try not to choke on your dinner
Guest Red Wardy Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I am just trying to gage everyones feelings!Question will we choke and end up in the play offs? Yes or noNO - From what I have seen, this is our year. Forest have nothing in Midfield and I believe we will beat them comfortably at the Gate.

Guest ashtonyate Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think this is as good a chance that we had since we were relegated just would like a quality target man to make sure

These sagheads are really beginning to grate on my nerves now. Is there nothing on there own website to interest them or has going to the Millennium Stadium worn off already. Jealousy will get you nowhere. WE ARE GOING
westonred Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 In previous years we have bottled it but i think under GJ we are a more proffesional outfit and finally automatic promotion will be ours ...........C.T.I.D

You were out played and out battled by a medocre 4th Division side. We'll see but from where I'm sat I think you'll bottle it...
Guest december 1963 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Like when Robin?True we have missed out on playoffs & promo etc by a few points or goal diff etc but I can't recall us being in a similar positon (2nd ) this close to the end of the season and not making it countAn older supporter than me ?? However, age is dulling his memory. It was only 4 years ago we were top (not second) after winning at Grimsby, with this many games to go and we still came third. And 3 years ago a win at home to bottom placed Wycombe would have seen us promoted at the end of the season and only two years ago a win in the last home match would have put us in the playoffs so our recent final run-ins have not been great. I am keeping feet firmly on the terracing until we have some distance between us and 3rd place. But after last might's result I have to admit I began to believe it just might be this year after all. Two home games in a row now is a help not a hindrance in my view.
Frenchay Red Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'm just saying from the two 'High Pressure' games I've seen you play in this season you guys bottled it. You were out played and out battled by a medocre 4th Division side. We'll see but from where I'm sat I think you'll bottle it...You are mistaken (deluded?). The high pressure games were Brighton away, Northampton at Home and Chesterfield away. The tinpot cup was a distraction. In an ideal world it would have been nice to have beaten you and then withdrawn from the competiton. But we didn't/couldn't, and we were rubbish over two games and marginally worse than you. I suspect you have been rubbish over many more games. As I have said elsewhere, tinpot cup is a good day out, but means little. Lose it and it's a disappointment. Lose promotion and it's misery. Brighton play-off still haunts me!Enjoy you day out and good on you for raising the plight of Jamie Cooper. Hope to add to the collection on saturday, hope he has a good day out, and perhaps when he recovers he will see the light and move away from the dark side to the boys in red!!

I made the exact same point to my mate earlier. I really think that Cardif would have been a distraction that would not help our league form. That said, I was gutted to lose to the gas!!! But, if we go up I am sure we will all agree it was for the greater good to go out of the comp.I don't think those games are good to judge our league form when you consider we were missing a few of our players for injury and cup-tied, and they were derby games at the end of the day. If we can get six-points in the next 2 games I think this just may be our year!

You were out played and out battled by a medocre 4th Division side. We'll see but from where I'm sat I think you'll bottle it...It was high pressure for your mugs not ours because you had nothing else to play for whilst we know getting to the Championship is far more important than any mickey mouse garbage, you keep pretending we care, we really don't.

If we can get six-points in the next 2 games I think this just may be our year!Spot on, and if results go for us by next tues final whistle we could, just could, be 8 points clear of Forest. I can't remember in recent campaigns when we have had such an opportunity resting entirely in our own hands to secure promotion. I have not been that impressed with GJ's style/tactics/substitutions etc etc for much of the season. But I do believe his methods are finally proving to be the right ones. There is a lot of belief in the squad, and Noble when interviewed after last night's win seemed to articulate the solidity and belief the team have in themselves and the desire to do it for the players and the fans. Here's hoping!
pdgifford64 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I'm just saying from the two 'High Pressure' games I've seen you play in this season you guys bottled it. You were out played and out battled by a medocre 4th Division side. We'll see but from where I'm sat I think you'll bottle it...Outplayed ? NoBeaten. YesFrom a tactical point of view you were never going to beat us toe to toe in a football sense. You came to the gate with the intent of not conceding a goal. The celebrations at the end are proof of that. Your gaffer got his tactics right and we were unable to break you down, although the woodwork did save you towards the end. The 2nd leg wasn`t much different although i concede we were poorer. However, you created little but put away one chance. Many people here have conceded the fact that you deserved to win over the two matches, but IMO, the result had nothing to do with bottle. Div 1 hasn`t been a particularly strong league this season. S****horpe don`t have a strong squad, but they have have shown remarkable consistency and in Billy Sharp have a striker that will cause many problems in tha Championship next season. We have depth to our squad, without which, given our injury problems and suspension etc, i doubt we would find ourselves in the position we are in now.The league is an entirely different kettle of fish to the JPT. With 12 games to go we can afford one or two disappointing results and i`m sure that at some point that will happen. We are now in the position that all we have to worry about is our own performance and nothing else. The majority of fans will not be too bothered if we finish second as oppose to top of the table. We don`t need to chase anybody down.Chesterfield was our first test. Historically not a happy hunting ground for us. But we came away with 3 pts and a confidence boosting 3-1 result. Two homes to come now and i for one can`t wait.I fancy that for us to `bottle it` is your heartfelt desire, but your support is appreciated and i look forward to your many visits in the forthcoming weeks.PDG
Guest cityguy Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 [color=#FF0000]NO - Our squad is the strongest it has been all season as we now have Betsy, Wilson and a rejuvenated Noble. And there is a good chance that Brooker or Enoch or both of them will hit their best form.
Dorset_Cider Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 This year ..... a slim maybe.......... but automatic is automatic........ there is no other guaranteed wayautomatic or lottery full stop............ balls to that............ automatic.. sorted no other guaranteed way
bucksred Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Hope to fk not. Shown signs we're going to do it this year.Hodges et al: bottled it against you lot. no we didnt. your gaffer did the job he wanted. stifled us, and our under strength team wasn't able to turn the game around. Our full strength side however is doing well in pressure games: Oldham, Brighton etc etc. The only thing we lost in not going to Bardiff is local braggin' rights, which you lot have......sure in the same boat as us you'd feel the same.
RedTop Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 No.Why not? GJ has this team sorted in terms of attitude. In the past, the players have believed their own hype and thought they were too good for the division. GJ will never let that happen, and because of the way GJ has shaped this team - the players he has brought in, the players he has let go, and the message he sent out to those who stayed - these players have the never-say-die attitude that will get them through.
WTFiGO!?! Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 In terms of the gas enquirery; we didn't have our new wide men Wilson and Betsty to hand. In terms of fight, you may have inadvertently done your old foe a great favour, I mean losing to that: if the shame there doesn't make one take a long hard look in the mirror nothing will.I'll go ''no'' btw, what a reversed perspective in which to phrase the question incidentally..Anyone else noticed the pattern between this season and our last promotion season? John Ward came in and had a relative molehill to climb, he climbed it unanimously but didn't quite make the grade in the end, walked it in the next term though. GJ came in and to reach the Play Off's had Mount Everest to climb and did come almightilly close to it in the end, he won't walk this league obviously but speaking in terms of this analogy should sneak in automatic. Just Human's searching out patterns man, odd being's we are.I do have every rational faith in GJ, the players and err...us the fans to play their parts. (maybe not the latter contribution there in fairness, apart from Saturday)
Guest FifeGas Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Outplayed ? NoBeaten. YesSurely, that's what counts! So you think they will choke it?
Guest misterpeeuk Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 I am just trying to gage everyones feelings!Question will we choke and end up in the play offs? Yes or noNo. This is our year for getting outta this division. Come on City!
bartolona Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Big difference this season, we have a manager who has been in this position before and succeeded. :Believe:
