PAPA650 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Presuming we go up which I'm preying for and don't fall at last hurdle like so many other seasons !!! will the board release money for our team !!!!! i believe the books are good this year not sure of the amount, but don't want to go up and bounce back down in our 1st or 2nd season especially how hard it is to get there in the 1st place !! we are a big city and should be up there with the big boys , yes would love premiership but that's hoping to much for the club at this moment of time ( would'nt that be a dream year for the club) so back to my point how much are the board willing to part with to keep us there ? bigger gate so alot more money interested to see how tight the board are ??? PAPA

PAPAIt's not all about money, look what happened last time!!!That said, I'm sure it's been confirmed on here a few times that Steve Lansdown has intimated that he will back the Manager in the transfer market, if we go up. One thing is certain, if we do go up, we'll need a few players to boost the consistency and quality of the squad.I think that we're reasonably covered in the keeper dept. it wouldn't be on my priority list.Defence - McCombe, Carey, Wilson, Fontaine, McAllister and Keogh should be able to hack it.Midfield - Noble & Johnson may just cut the mustard in the Championship, Murray may just have one season left in him - we need some quality signed for midfield.Strikers - I'm not at all convinced that any of our strikers will be consistent enough for the Championship, although Jevons may just do with the right strike partner and midfield support. Brooker migh, but IMO his injury record would stop me including him in any long term plans.
next_year_I_hope Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 a keeper would be a good idea if he rates weale so much then he would probably be 1st choice and then he needs a back up keeper. unless he has his eye on a hearts/yeovil keeper gordon maybe??

Admin Maesknoll Posted March 13, 2007 Admin Posted March 13, 2007 So you'd just drop Basso, this seasons ever present in the league, (OK 35 games and 65 minutes, because of the sending off) and has conceded 30 goals.
