Guest HambrookRed Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 As many of you are aware, part 1 ended in a shock defeat and dire performance against lowly Bradford. However, I write to you know with some better news. It seems the visit to the holy land itself has re-ignited my fathers love for City and he has since called me several times before, during and after games to discuss matters.Dad has asked me to get us tickets to the Forest game and also the Rotherham game. His words were " i reckon we'll have forest cause they'm to big for their boots " and " Rotherham will be relegated and we'll be promoted, so we better make sure were there to rub it in ".ok so now that he has well and truely jinxed both games I ask that you don't hunt him down and kill him.The point of this post, well, you cant fall out of love with your football club, even after 10 yrs and a dire performance.Thanks. :noexpression:

bcfcchris2016 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 mate, like i said in part one, i seriously thought you scarred your dad on tuesday night and you put the final nail in the coffin of your dads love for City. But fair play to your dad, He knows how crucial this is for City atm.

I've recently grown very disillusioned with football in general and due to money i couldn't afford to go Saturday. I had been ill all week as well, but come Saturday morning i was gutted that i wasn't on that 9.30 train to Crewe. My girlfriend commented that 'I moan about football all the time' and couldn't understand why i was so dejected all day. The truth is that no matter how much i slag football off and complain about City and their overpriced tickets, the complete lack of atmosphere at home games, how following football these days is so inferior to 15-20 years ago, i still love Bristol City.Being negative about City is part of the reason why i know i love them. I feel comfortable about knocking them sometimes because i know deep down their my team and the fact that i keep going back for more only confirms this.I've got this passion because i grew up watching city and they became part of my life. If we keeping driving the younger generation out the game through pricing and over zealous stadium policing (no standing, swearing, singing in certain areas, generally enjoying yourself etc)then I'm afraid football will become just like a trip to the cinema, with no passion or loyalty or commitment or sense of belonging.I've said it before and I'll say it again, be thankful if knew football when it was the peoples game. For it's negativity (the odd scrap being the only negative point i can think of!) It was million times better.

Only to return 2 weeks later ? I don't think so, and this past couple of weeks have kind of enlightened me to a couple of things. Most importantly that no matter what league we are in, under what manager playing and what ground, I will always love Bristol City, and theres no way of changing that, just like my dad found out.

However he is more than welcome to come and join us next season.ok so now that he has well and truely jinxed both games I ask that you don't hunt him down and kill him.Thanks. :noexpression:

Guest HambrookRed Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 You've got to take him to the Forest game mate! Tell him I'll buy him a pint after the game to cheer him up I was waiting for you to appear after your previous request to bring him along. I have to warn you however, my dad is a shallow man. He will accept your offering of condolance on the slight possiblity things do go your way but once he has cosumed his free pint of Whiskey he will unleash hell up on you ! He may be nearlly deaf and resemble a certian Mr Steptoe but he can pack a punch !

He's been dead for 5 years and whiffs a bit but would still duff up your dad!Seriously though, it looks as though this automatic promotion place is going to the wire which makes the City V Forest game very important. A draw would do your lot but Forest must take all 3 points I reckon so here's hoping for a cracker.

Part of me wants to say i'd take a draw, but with us having some time off in the week for the first time this season i feel we might have the edge.Heres to hoping for a fit striker ( yes yes, and a cracker. )

How about City finishing 2nd and Forest crowned champions? Scunny have had a hell of a run but are they showing signs of a wobble? They've dropped 4 points in the last 2 games. Sparrow was sent off against Brighton so will serve a suspension, Sharp was booked again so he must be well on his way to a suspension. They've got to crack soon, S****horpe as champions just doesn't compute with me!

Guest kungjedi Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Having seen a couple of forest games this season as soon as you throw in a couple of tackles they fall apart and the goals start pouring in!And regarding your father Markopolo, I think it's quite hard to stop loving your team..

Guest kungjedi Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 the ones that were on sky earlier in the season! (not the chelsea game!) although they threw that one away aswell
Guest ForestForever Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 the ones that were on sky earlier in the season! (not the chelsea game!) although they threw that one away aswell Been at the cider again fella Forest on TV is always bad news, we never perform well in front of the cameras. The 5 - 0 drubbing at home to S****horpe at the start of the season was a prime example. To say we fall apart after a few tackles isn't very fair though. I think Forest are a very physical side, a bit too physical at times which our disciplinary record shows. The FA Cup game Vs Chelsea was a disaster. We never got going in that game and our players seemed starstruck on the day. Bloody embarassing too as the Forest squad were bigging themselves up leading up to the game but left their passion back in Nottingham. I suppose every supporter says that their team has been on the wrong side of referreing decisions but I do believe that Forest have been hard done by on many occasions this season, especially at home. Some wannabe Premiership ref comes to the City Ground in front of 20k and wants to make a name for himself. Some of the decisions which have gone against us this this season have been comical at times but they have cost us valuable points.Anyway, looking forward to visiting Ashton Gate again in a couple of weeks and just for the record since 1978, I've yet to see Forest lose there in a competitive game so here's hoping the oman continues!
Guest HambrookRed Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Hopefully Part 3 will include details of various celebrations !In the past ive been critical of the large number of fans that turn up for "the big games" and always pondered 'where are they the rest of the time'. Well, my dad is one of those people now, and it's certainly changed my view of things.Season ticket holders / ST members / "once a month'ers" / armchair fans...... still BCFC.

Swings and Roundabouts.....i bet you've had a few decisions go your way that shouldnt and I imagine its the same for everyone.Regarding 1978, I wasnt born so it doesnt count. sorry.

That game you were under the impression you lost 5-0 to Scunny? I can confirm that this never happened, it was only 4. No need to thank me, I was happy to help.

I was listening to 606 on Saturday when one of their lot was complaining about the quality of football at the City ground despite being third. Apparently Calderwood is incompetent and has no tactical nous and the football is really boring. Blimey, I thought, wait until you lot get to Ashton Gate!!! We excel at boring football. You couldn't put a cigarette paper between the caller and many of our fans.

There wasn't actually a "but", maybe there was a "however"......Anyhow, I have advised him of this scenario and i have had some papers drawn up to ensure that we be divorced by the time the new season, again in league one, begins.
Guest HambrookRed Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 No, the love just gets stronger when promotion beckons. Well, I'm not sure what your suggesting here...although it almost appears to suggest that my father is a "GLORY SUPPORTER". I can confirm this IS the case

Guest HambrookRed Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 ok, a brief update from the man himself.Me : People are worried that if you come it will all go wrong, like against Bradford.Dad : I never went to watch Bradford.Me : Yes you did Dad, I took you.Dad : oh yes, thats right. Well, you tell them that it aint got nuffin to do with me or any of that stition stuff ( i think he meant superstition )Me : Well hopefully the forest game will be different, otherwise we are both in troubleDad : Huh ?
