Dolman Block B Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 S Brooker, P Jevons, D Noble and R Keogh are all in line to return to the clubs first trip to the new Keepmoat stadium, although G Johnson is still on the look out for a loan signing before this thursday,s deadline......(quote western daily press today)Things are looking up for the "big" run in chaps.....
formerly known as ivan Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 that would be great news for the team, however i cant see brooker being back for this weekend. even so, how long will it be before he picks up another knock?probably best of making plans for the rest of the season without him and get someone in for the last few weeks of the season who can do a job. however, not many options out there. everyone has been putting names forward for players who see should take on loan, but they are all playing in the championship/premiership. wouldnt be surprised to see us take one of the leading strikers on loan from league 2 with a view to permanent deal.
Robbored Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 but they are all playing in the championship/premiership. wouldnt be surprised to see us take one of the leading strikers on loan from league 2 with a view to permanent deal. Most of the top strikers in Div 2 are playing for teams that are in the promotion/play off race.I can't see any of them allowing their leading strikers out on loan.

We're like the Black Knight, in Monty Python and The Holy Grail. Hell, you can cut off our arms and legs, even our heads, but we'll still beat you.Come on Doncaster, come on League 1, we're Bristol City and we're comin' to getchaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

giles_23_bcfc Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 So it seems Jevo, Brooks, Keogh and Noble will all be returning to the frame to play in the game at Doncaster on Saturday. What great timing it is coming into the most important part of the season! Also, good news on Scott Murray, He's hoping to play a part in a reserve game against Swansea next Tuesady. So hopefully, if this is the case, COULD be pushing for a return against Swansea or Gillingham.Things are looking even more rosy down at the fortress Ashton Gate!

Guest cityboy1965 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 If all of them are available we have the best chance we have had for years to get out of this division. With a full fit squad we should be flying!!

Bristol Boy Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Most of the top strikers in Div 2 are playing for teams that are in the promotion/play off race.I can't see any of them allowing their leading strikers out on loan.Yes, but we all know that it wouldn't really be a loan, ala Accrington Stanley's top player to Ipswich "on loan".It's a permanent transfer in all but name with the fee etc being agreed before the lad goes anywhere. At that level, it's all about survival and finance and most clubs can't resist an offer, especially if the guy's on a Bosman anytime soon.If we could actually believe that all those strikers would stay fit for the next eight games (perhaps more) then I'd agree, don't bring someone in.However, based on track record we can't make that assumption. In any event, we'll need to give serious consideration to the striking dept next season, particularly if we are promoted.
