cheshire_red Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Fulham loan striker clearly enjoying his time at Luton... Not!Comments made by Bjorn Runstrum on his spell with the doomed Championship side:"I wouldn't bet a penny on them staying up. They dug their own grave when they sacked Newell and put me on the bench. "An iceberg would have a greater chance of making it in Hell than Luton have of staying in the Championship."Against Ipswich, we played the same as we have lately - like s**t. I prefer the bench to going out on a pitch where half my team kick the ball as high and far as possible and the other half run away to avoid getting a pass. "Some of the guys would be good American football kickers. The others should get out of football. "I hope I don't stay here and be humiliated. For the fans' sake, I still hope for a win. But with these clowns for coaches, I doubt it."Luton striker Warren Feeney is set to play for Northern Ireland against Sweden next week. Yet Runstrom said: "He's completely harmless. He's scored one goal in, like, 30 games. And that was when the defenders were out to get their hot dogs!"
BCFCfan Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Completly fake I'm afraid. That 'The Sun' for you!

cheshire_red Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 Good record so far for a 22 year old and Coleman rates him highly:Wikipedia - Personality Laughs
cheshire_red Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 The 22-year-old, who had already played in Italy, enjoyed three productive seasons with Hammarby and Cottagers boss Chris Coleman felt that he had snapped up a promising striker. "We are committed to not only challenging for a top-ten spot this term, but also to building for the future and I think that Bjorn will be another one to watch."He has exceptional levels of stamina and gives the opposition's defence little time for rest or composure, because of his hard work and commitment."

bcfc seattle Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 So you want some guy who publically slates the team he is currently playing for? No thanks.
BCFCfan Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Not you wouldnt. But as i stated up there, its b***ocks anyway.
cheshire_red Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 Not you wouldnt. But as i stated up there, its b***ocks anyway.Quite, I looked into it and he didn't say all the things quoted, far from it.But, apparently he isn't happy at Luton since Newell was sacked so..........
BCFCfan Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 sacking Newall was the worse thing Luton could have done. He made his point perfectly though, they sold thier best players and didnt invest in new ones, surpirse surpise they are not doing so well!
RedUn Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Completly fake I'm afraid. That 'The Sun' for you! What a pity (if you're right) - I yearn for that sort of honesty in English football instead of all the soundbites, platitudes and double-think.
samo Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 sacking Newall was the worse thing Luton could have done. He made his point perfectly though, they sold thier best players and didnt invest in new ones, surpirse surpise they are not doing so well!true, but to a point.yes, Newell was right that the lack of re-investment hampered his efforts to keep them in the division, but it isn't the only reason they are playing, and i quote; "the worst football ever seen" at the mo. That was the opinion of my leeds supporting work mate who saw them recently, and he is very much a glass-half-empty bloke at the best of times. he said that the standard of football in the leeds-luton match was worse than his 10-year olds school side, but even though leeds were rubbish luton were utterly hopeless.Newell wasn't backed by his board, which was wrong after all he'd done to get them where they are, but he still has to be held to account for the shambles what he had to work with had become under his leadership.
leadman Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 well i should imagine selling 9 million worth of tallent didnt help, under is nose aswell.
BCFCfan Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I imagine his 'Females in Football is stupid' etc comments didnt adhear him to the board. So maybe thats why they didnt give him any money. Cant see a board of directors wanting someone to fail though. He'll do a good job somewhere, just needs to keep his mouth shut.
