havanatopia
McCarthy has taken Girts Karlsons on a trial from Metalurgs. Albeit for a measely two days.Any folks know much about this kiddo?Snatched from under the noses of our gaffer?I would imagine his cv has in fact passed the noses of the Johnsons and, quite simply, he's just not good enough for us nowadays! Funny old game football.

Funny old game football. Have seen him play twice. The first time last summer in the qualification rounds for the UEFA-Cup (AIK Solna v Liepaja Metalurgs) and also in a European Championship qualification round in November (Sweden v Latvia). A tall forward who looks like a rockstar with long curly hair. A good header of the ball, good technique but no pace or guts. Don't make much of a impression. Simply nothing for City. Obviously not what johnson wanted. It was discussed whether he would turn up at the training camp in Latvia last summer but he never did. Can't remember that he has been to Bristol. Perhaps the hair will distract the opposition defenders. :noexpression:
redpole
Really? When was that?Girts Karlsons (born June 7, 1981 in Liepaja) is Latvian football striker.Karlsons plays for the Latvia national team and won his first cap in 2003 against Kuwait. He has spent most of his club career at FHK Liep?jas Metalurgs, where he won the league title in 2005 and Latvian Cup in 2006 (scoring in the final), before leaving the club in July 2007.He has since had trials at English Championship sides Bristol City and Southampton during 2007, and is currently on trial with Wolves. I watched him play for Liepaja Metalurgs at the 30th of August 2007.
