Sad And Bitter Norwich Fan

I don't know if anyone else has posted this but I have been irritated by him all day.

A Norwich fan living in Bristol he said and he really annoyed me because I have friends who are Norwich supporters and they agreed with me that both sides played pretty well in the conditions.

So this idiot gets himself on to national radio to slag us off.

  1. 1st he said that Norwich were superior to us in every department. Well no, we scored more goals and conceded less, which last time I looked makes us the better side. They played some good football, helped no doubt by the comparative lack of pressure on them, but they lost. I wish I had a tenner for every "superior side" claim that has come from teams we have beaten or drawn with this season.......
  2. He said we shouldn't go up this season? We should "hang around in the championship and learn some class!" How this works in practice I don't quite know, are we supposed to go to the FA on gaining promotion and say "Don't promote us, it's all been a big mistake, we were only joking really" ?
  3. He was upset by City fans being uncouth and making remarks containing "sexual innuendo" about Delia. At this point I was beginning to think the guy hadn't been to a football match since the 50's! He said this was also something else we needed to learn, "how to be civilised" ?

Of course he made no mention of the spontaneous round of applause offered up by City supporters when Dion Dublin was substituted, no doubt this didn't fit his view of us as a bunch of heathen upstarts, who had ideas above our station!

I have always felt a bit of an affinity with Norwich and Ipswich as they get the tractor boy, sheep gags stuff we have suffered with over the years, but this guy really didn't do them any favours yesterday.

You've gotta say thats an amusing, or confusing, set of moral values - getting upset about a perfectly fair pop at Delia, when we were hurling abuse at Cureton, regarding his past activities, relentlessly for 90+ mins. I would like to think that Delia 'takes it' in the spirit in which it is intended - Cureton does (he gave us a bit of a grin in the EE at one point - so he could hear us alright). The whole point of these sort of chants is to get a reaction - in the case of a player, to, hopefully, put them off at an important moment or make them lose concentration, and for someone like Delia to see her lose her normal cool for a moment (it would be great if she had stood up and given us the finger or something).

Besides all of that, its very childish and very funny - I though the adaptation of Marvins song to 'lets be having you' was genius - and hypothesising about Delia's sexual preferences was also perfectly reasonable. Personally, I think there was plenty more we could have gone after if we were really the uncouth mob we are being made out to be. Anyway, do we care..nah!

Come on EE, the Wolves game is a good opportunity to show those miserable (and they are very, very miserable) brummies what we've got!!

You forget that extra points are also awarded for artistic impression, but these can only be awarded to ex Premier League teams.

Again you forget the new league rule which is a bit like when you start a new job or have just passed your driving licence. A side newly promoted to the championship has to go on a probationary period of at least 2 years before the can be taken on full time and be considered for promotion to the Premier League. Similarly, a newly promoted club has to wear green "L" plates on their shirts and must remain on the safe single lane roads of mid table obscurity for a reasonable period ( at least 18 months) before venturing onto the more dangerous dual carriageways that involve beating your elders and betters who have previously played in the Premier League.

Thank goodness Nigella isn't Chairman of a Football Club. Can you imagine the sexual inuendo that would be directed at her?

Earlier in the season fans from many of these teams were fairly warm in their priase for what we had until then acheived, but I suspect that praise was given in the full expectation that we would crash and burn at some point in the season. As their own seasons have failed to ignite and ours has contuinued that praise has sadly given way to envy and spite. Having said that, there have been posts on 606 recenlty from fans of some top clubs full of praise for our season and they readily admit that they did not expect us to sustain our effort. Pleasingly they also say we fully deserve to be where we are, One Wolves fan suggest that the league is topsy turvey, but we know full well that under "normal" circumstances we would not be where we are. What are these "normal " circumstances?

Thanks Downend, you're quite right, I had forgotten the "rules".

I also agree that many of those fans who were around to praise us in the beginning are not getting very upset that we haven't done the honourable thing and let our season collapse in a heap. Not bitter at all are they? :whistle2:
