Guest Red to the world
We have done better than any of us hoped. We have punched above our weight. GJ has built success on team spirit, hard work and fitness. We are still in line for play offs but auto - no realistic chance. We lack a goal scorer - down to GJ in the transfer window I fear. You don't win play offs not scoring goals. GJ may be God to the happy clapies but his selections and tactics have been poor. Looking at his signings - Oh Dear - McAllister, average Div 1 fullback - Sproule can run fast but little else - Trundle, million pound failure - Dele, journeyman striker on a good day - Byfield not even that - Carle lots of potential but not the finished article - McIndoe not so bad but not so good either - the God hasn't really shone out as a finder of talent has he !! I find it ironic that GJ has done in the CCC just what Wilson did for us in league one - built a half success on the basis of a sound defence and lack of goals but at least he has done it a division higher. I find some truth in the posters who doubt the players committment - how many would still be regulars in the Prem - one or two at best. I know the counter argument is - just shut up we are top with a few to play and you are a negative person who just looks to be negative - you may be right but we ( GJ ) blew a golden opportunity - and looking at past history the chances of us doing as well or better next seaon are statistically not good. Sorry but I ask you - how have we done in the last 10 games - as someone said - if you ride Lady Luck you will sooner or later suffer a nasty fall. Lastly who will GJ blame tomorrow - I bet it won't be his selection or his tactics - it will be the players or the fans or whatever....!

If you thrash an engine you get a period of sustained speed but eventually the engine will pack up and leave you with not much left. By the time the engine packs up you may have a big enough lead to win the race - the question is - Do City have enough?
collier
If you thrash an engine you get a period of sustained speed but eventually the engine will pack up and leave you with not much left. By the time the engine packs up you may have a big enough lead to win the race - the question is - Do City have enough? I think the short answer is no. We don't realistically have a lead. I think we now need to win all 4 games. Last 5 away we have scored 1 goal in a defeat to cardiff. To think we will go to stoke and sheff u and win is pie in the sky. I think lady luck has run out on us about 5 games too short. Bottom line is you have to score goals to win games and I'm sorry to have to say in but we probably have the weakest strike force in the division at the moment. If todays game was played out exactly as it did without southampton having a goalkeeper, the score would have still read 2-0. We don't create chances and did not once trouble the keeper today. Easiest paycheck ever for a keeper playing for a side in the relegation places.

Nibor
Totally disagree rod, there's every realistic chance of automatic promotion because we're top with FOUR games to go. Yes we can now be caught by teams with games in hand, but of those only one team has any form to speak of. I think your criticism of GJ's signings is excessively harsh, and I note you've not mentioned Elliott, McCombe, Fontaine, Basso, or LJ - all of whom have been part of the rock on which our success this season is built. Yeah, Trundle hasn't impressed but I think we've seen enough from Carle and Sproule to suggest they will improve and describing McIndoe as not so good is ludicrous, he's the best left winger we've had for nearly 20 years. Byfield and Adebola are players with experience at this level and they've both made good contributions. We're more successful than sides whose squads cost £20m to assemble and have double to treble our wage bill. Criticising the manager on the basis of us finding the run in tough when almost all the other top sides are is churlish to say the least.

Guest City-Fan-Jess
Yeah I've not always been pleased with GJ's selections some games but end of the day he's took us so far and even when we lost those 9 games in a row I was one of the few that still believed he could turn it around and I knew he could lift the club Of course I never expected such a great first season in the Championship and people are going to moan if we c**k it up but we should never be in this position anyway...so if we c**k it up yeah it will be a shame and yeah I will be gutted because we were so close to the dream! Bit its not the end of the world and we've still had a great season. I still find some of the critism of Trundle ludicrus. He may of cost a million but people have to remember no matter how much you cost its difficult if you are in and out the team every few games which I think is one of the main reasons why none of our strikers have hit double figures. To be honest out of all the strikers I don't think anyone has played the supporting role as well as Trundle has. All people see in Trundle is a million pounds = 20 goals. Thats not what his whole game is about. He helps bring other players into the game and helps create attacks. If you look at the games we have lost I think you will find he hasn't played in many of them. Really him or Byfield should of been on the bench. I don't think we can play Brooker and Adebola together because neither like to drop deep. They both like to try and stay up top. We seen that today. Ruups.
