Our first season in the Championship and every **** is moaning due to the fact we lost yesterday? We are infact overachieving

Doesnt take a genius to work out that even if we finish in the playoffs its still a cracking season. :disapointed2se:

Possibly because we will be years away from being in such a good position again.

With a remote chance of being in a relegation battle next season in THIS league if we continue on current form now the momentum has truly run out.

You are right of course and there has to be a sense of prospective and no little satisfaction of what has been achieved so far. BUT as we are all to aware there is an oportunity to take the club forward by a massive margin. Achieving top flight status even for one season would genereate income that if managed correctly would chabge the football club for the forseable future.

To be this close has obviously raised everyones expectations, may be to highly but the danger now I feel is not the scenario of not getting promotion, becuase as you have explained we have had / are having a wonderful season. But what what I would call the Brighton playoff effect, whereby the club's asperations pass by like a damp squib, becuase that what yesterday's performance was I'm afraid.

I only hope that that everyone gives it a right good go over the next four games, so that what ever happens there are not to many what ifs, if you get my meaning.

I'm not moaning about our league position, I'm moaning about the fact thats its only a matter of time before we completely blow what is a fantastic opportunity.

I'm no Gary J, but I personally feel, and have said all along, we should have invested in a bit more quality back in January/February. All this "stick by the lads that got us here" is great, but there is no room in football for sentiment. Some people may not agree with loan signings, but its been clear for weeks and weeks we are lacking that bit of quality to push us over the finish line....and its certainly proving the case.

Not only that, comments from GJ like "they wanted it more" and "they were more up for it then us"...well, this shocks and concerns me if I'm honest. We are top of the league, 5 games left, great chance to go further in front at the top....and were playing a team who have not won in 10, have problems on and off the field and are, on a massive downward spiral!

How the hell can they be more up for it then us!!!!

I trust GJ 99.9%, great manager, perdorming miracles with our club...but in life, you have to take opportunities when they come along. I think he got it WRONG by not bringing in a bit more quality, and this mistake will cost us at the end of the season.

Job done though this season granted, and a fantastic job at that...but these opportunities don't come along very often, and when they do, you have to take them

Well I think we ought to sack the manager, the Board and get rid of the players and buy a complete set of replacements. That will make everything ok. Until the next defeat when we'll have to do that all over again. Still, never mind.

On the other hand, perhaps at last the madness of this season is settling down. City have punched way above their weight all season (the occasional hammering underlining this), and finally the pressure is telling on players who seriously never expected to be this high. The spectre of a Derby-esque season in the top division should promotion come is a sobering one and maybe its a blessing that the wheels are finally flying off. There's little left in the tank just when a final push is needed, and people really shouldn't be too hard on a squad that has over achieved and surpassed wildest expectations.

Its a shame after holding onto top spot for so long but I've maintained promotion to the first division (lets drop this absurd corporate branding and state its true description) this year is far too soon and the club would be ripe for a savaging week after week which isn't worth the money. We'd be back where we are now the season after but no doubt with shell-shocked players used to losing and others on a sky-high wage the club wouldn't be able to sustain. And maybe also no GJ because I can clearly see people on this forum screaming for his head 8 games in.

I also think next season will be a struggle but maybe it'll bring a bit of reality into some people's minds. City can't beat average teams like Plymouth, Cardiff and Southampton. How the heck do you think they'll do against Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle, let alone the bigger clubs?

Negative ? No. Honest. Yes .

We have 'lost our way'. I do not like hearing that the players have 'bottled it' as that is really unfair. These players have performed well over the course of the season to get us where we are this Sunday, top of the league still. Who last August would have thought that ! The goal count tells the story about us, a hard to beat team, who score few goals.

The issue is that the football we played has disappeared in what can only be described as a terrible run since Leicester away. We were ran raggard that day and have stuttered and struggled ever since then. We have taken 5 out of a possible 18 points. Yet at Charlton, the mid week before the Leicester game ,we played as good a half as we have played all season ?

Has Hollowhead put a curse on us. It is not being negative, just disappointed we have not been performing over the last half dozen matches. If we had got say 9 or 10 points out of 18 then the script for the end of the season would be different.

The most we can get to is 82 points, if we won ALL our last 4 games. Lets look forward to a day out at Wembley !

We have improved no ends and ARE in a GREAT league position,

I don't mind if we miss out on automatic promotion or lose in the play-offs, IF the team has worked hard and given 100%

Yesterday that wasn't the case, the effort and determination that has got us to this position, just wasn't there on the field.

Top of the Championship - 5 Games to go - AND YET........the players didn't look up for it, THAT i do have a problem,

I have no problem with losing if we have at LEAST given our all, but yesterday they didn't

No one is denying how well we have done. I amongst many others am proud of our achievments. The moaning is due to our poor form in recent weeks and a very mediocre performance by our players (and some fans) yesterday.
