EASTEND WURZEL
Anyone have any idea where the spare seats are? Ashton Gate has an official capacity of 21,658 , tomorrow is "sold out" and according to the O/S we should see a capacity sell out crowd of 19,200. My maths as poor as they are would leave me to belive there will be 2,458 empty seats. There will be segregation in the EastEnd of E block (the smallest block as there is no seats at the back) which is around 800 seats. A block of the away section is not used maybe 250 seats, and seats behind the dugouts approx 50 seats. I make that 1100 empty seats , WHERE ARE THE OTHER 1,358 EMPTY SEATS?? bcfcshorey
the premier seating might not count in the attendance, but is included in the capacity
Barrs Court Red
This is an old one. Following the pitch invasion in 1996, part of the fall out was that capacity was restricted for segregation.

EASTEND WURZEL
Even with the extended regs on segregation and the netted off area between EE and Williams this still doesnt add up when there is over 19200 in the ground there never can be over 2000 empty seats (well i cant see them anyway)
Guest
There is around 1'500 seats at the back (right at the back) of the EastEnd that are usually unsold.
Guest CalifoniaRed
Interesting when you talk of segregation, I was at Anfield on Tuesday night for the game with Arsenal. Liverpool's segregation is just 3 lines of seats with black netting on between rival fans. If they can do this why can't we at AG?? Is it just the police being too restrictive? Nogbad the Bad
Not too many 'hooligans' within Premier away supports as ticket numbers are restricted and sold to ST holders only. Most are also aged 40+. Home fans who are next to the away fans are ordinary ST holders too, families etc, and in the same seat every game. Vociferous fans of each club do not therefore congregate right next to each other, so little segregation needed How often do you hear Premier League fans exchanging banter with the opposition fans or trying to outsing them? Hardly ever, I'd say.

Guest richie
they don't sell anywhere near all the seats in the eastend, for home or away fans. if you notice when your in there that there are soo many spare seats about, even if it says a sell out! they wouldnt risk it in there cos the exits are soo bad. i know sometimes it feels like there is far to many people in there, if you really try and imagine everyone in a seat each, then consider where people just don't squeeze up and sit nearest the entrance, then i reckon there is prob about 2000 missing from the eastend as a whole. they give 2000 to away fans (ie wolves) then consider how much we get, it is usually the other half, so i reckon the same again, if not less. capacity of eastend in 5500 i think, so thats 1500 gone at least. then somebody may have a point about not declaring people in the hospitality seats as it saves on tax. Bristol Boy
the premier seating might not count in the attendance, but is included in the capacity They are and are also counted as ST's-They're counted whether they attend or not. This is an old one. Following the pitch invasion in 1996, part of the fall out was that capacity was restricted for segregation. The segregated seats don't add up to the 21,600 that attended the Rugby. there are always 2 seats in front of me that are empty....every home match, even when they say tickets are sold out!!! Would be good to get 2 bums on those seats! Funny thing is that week in, week out, around 750/1,000 don't turn up-Strange but true.
