That Was Far Better

I enjoyed the game today despite the 0-0 result and if City had played last week as they did today then three points would have been nicely tucked away on the way home from St Marys.

City were far better today and although in the first both sides cancelled each other out City were the better side in the second 45 and with a bit more composure from out wide could have nicked a win.

I was impressed with Brooker. He looked well up for it and very sharp causing problems all game for the Wolves defence.Skuse also got in some very timely tackles. McAllister was a bit better as well.Nowhere near as many long balls but his crossing was sadly lacking quality.

Overall not a bad performance compared to what we saw last week.City are still in the running and can go to Stoke next week with some confidence restored.

Agreed, Skuse worked hard in midfield and Elliot's energy has been greatly missed until now!

Bit dissapointed with Sproule's end product, but simply having him there seems to scare defenders.

Only other point is that I'd prefer Fontaine in for McCombe as his distribution was poor (although it slowly improved as the match progressed).

All in all a decent performance, we probably had the better of a game against another promotion contender.

BRING ON STOKE!!!!

MUCH MUCH BETTER today aganinst a decent and inform wolves team.

Couldn't fault too many players, McIndoe and Sproule though didn't give the forward much service to mention.

McAllister's injury looks a worry, but his form hasn't been brilliant later, so could see Fontaine come in at Stoke.

Skuse and Elliott both worked hard and broke down much of their play, though as expected don't offer too much attacking wise.

Elliott looked back to form today.

Brooker and Byfield......well, it's a forward line I've wanted to see for a bit, didn't look bad, but didn't look great, Byfield didn't look bad, but wasn't great, whereas Brooker was nothing short of immense, however the only real chances he got where ones he created himself.

I turned the radio off when a certain caller lambasted Skuse, he gave his all really. I really should stop listening to RB though, what with that and Yeovil fans who seem to forget where they were 5 years ago..

Brooker was bloody great, Byfield had a fairly anonymous game for me.

The wingers were not great. McIndoe kept trying to beat people with pace and wouldn't cross and Sproule kept trying to cross and wouldn't beat people with pace. They should have swapped heads. Sproule was particularly frustrating because he had a lot of the ball and should have done more with it, Carle did more in 10 minutes than he did in 85.

Central midfield did ok but you either need to take the short ball off the defence and create play or if you're going to let the defence hit it long then be close enough to the forwards to get knock downs and both of them did neither really. Great challenge from Skuse in the box that saved us a point. We really missed LJ in respect of taking the ball off the defence.

Carey and McAllister were ok. Orr got dummied a bit too much and McCombe looked like an accident waiting to happen early on but shored up a bit later.

Basso was very good again.

We will need to add quality, a bit of confidence and a little luck to the hard work we definitely put in today to get automatic.

Exactly! What a numpty!

Skuse is Mr Dependable, but he doesn't offer the same going forward as you would get from Carle. Skuse did exactly what he was in the side to do.

I was livid when i heard that, Skuse and Elliott both had fab games, for him to say Elliott was "ok" was stupid, but to say Skuse "should be playing on the downs" is just pathetic!

Skuse had a great game today, and Elliot looked back to his early season form.

Couldnt believe the ref though!

Paul Taylor, making a career out of being SHIT!

Agreed, if I was that bad at my job my employers would quite rightly be asking questions. Why does this not happen with referees? Fair result today, functional, lots of effort put in, just lacking that final bit of quality (or even just the mindset that every attack should end in a shot on goal, no matter from where). Make or break next week. We beat Stoke, we have a cracking chance at auto, we lose, we don't. We draw, we probably don't.

Elliott looking good again, McIndoe choked a bit against his former club (note when he didn't want to go and take a corner underneath the Wolves fans in the first half), Sproule didn't look quite right today (but still the best option in that position), Brooker excellent, Carle looked sharp when he came on.

By midweek when games in hand have been caught up, we will have a clearer picture of what is needed of us.

Think Skuse started quietly and it showed we didnt have a creative midfielder on the pitch.

That ref was a disgrace, not as if he looked incompetent or thick, just pure biased against us!

I know we say this too often, but by the laws of the game we could have had a couple of penalties, in each half where Wolves defenders bear hugged ours during corners.

Saying that, Jarvis skinned the F outta Carle and Orr and should have earned a penalty.

Personally thought Byfield was pants.

Why GJ don't give LT a start, i don't know?

CANT STAND Skuse, but he was HUGE today, a couple of goal saving tackles in our own penalty area. Immense.

Id argue that was possibly one of his best games for us, and when he went over in the box early on it had to have been a penalty because hes not the diving type. Would like to see a replay of that.

So we have to compare our performance vs The Saints?!

I for one was far from happy with the lack-luster performance today.

We lack creativity and direction.

We will be luck to see 3 goals by the end of the season..let alone 3 points!

considering that our previous game was against Southampton, it's fair to assess how we performed since the previous game, in that respect in every single aspect of our play we were better than against Southampton.

The fact that Wolves are playing very well at the moment and scoring goals for fun, I personally was convinced prior to the game they would get at least one, the deciding factor would be whether we would be able to score past them.

Today they despite the result was a MASSIVE improvement, which showed in the reaction of the crowd at the end, not a single boo towards the team, because everyone knew we had worked our socks off and got a good point against a very good team.

Personally I just hope we don't meet them in the play-offs,

thought he did ok, thought he didn't have a poor game, but didn't have a great game, but did ok.

apparently Johnson said on Five Live, that he hadn't played the 2 together yet and they looked good in training, personally speaking prior to the game I thought it woudl be brooker and one of either LT or Byfield, thought it would be LT, but hoped for byfield.

reason being, Brookers possible best form at City came alongside Lita. Byfield has though elements to game, pacey and good finisher.

looking at today, I think there is potential in the partnership, but it's just a shame, it's come so late in the season and we can't take the risk.

I don't think we were lack-luster today, but its glaringly obvious we are very lacking in quality in this squad. What ever division we end up in next season we we badly need an injection of quality in several areas. If we're still in this league then hopefully we wont have to go to every game hoping we can squeek a 1-0 win with our commitment and work rate, but go on and comprehensively dispose of the opposition because of the quality that will hopefully be added to the side in the summer. If we're in the prem, well.......

Disappointed with a point. On that performance I'd be elated with a point if I were you.

I think it was a fair result. You won the first 20 minutes and we won the last.

Now that's not really a fair reflection on the game is it?

Your 1 shot in the 2nd half was all you really had. We had numerous chances and should've had a penalty.

Admit it.

In the second half Brooker had a couple of decent chances Bradley Orr just missed with the last kick and Sproul might have done better with the keeper off his line who made a good save.

You had a penalty appeal turned down Basso made two good saves and Brooker cleared one off the line.

It was a draw and we all move on...I hope Wolves get something at West Brom and I'm sure even if they don't it wont be anything to do with not scoring a goal.

We had chances too and a much better penalty shout than yours.

You were a decent side but didn't deserve three points at all, nor did we.

YES YES YES YOU'RE RIGHT...I am a charlatan and a filthy liar and a cad. Can you ever forigve me? I CAN CHANGE FOR GODS SAKE! :crying:

I'm sorry went a bit bonkers for a minute there. Numerous? Not really. Snuffed out by concentrated defending? Yes. We actually had the ball in the actual net. Remember? Compared to the circus act that turned out against Southampton I was quitely satisfied. Clearlry you are not.

You should have had one. we definatly should. Which would have made it 1-1 and still a draw.
