How Important Is The Sheff Game?

Taking recent form into account - I'm sensing that most of us would be satisfied with a point from tomorrow - and hoping that we get enough momentum to carry us through the game against PNE - and into the play-offs in reasonable nick? A win tomorrow could though be a real boost - especially if its based upon a forward combo that works! Thoughts?

If you go by the number of people who are trying to flog their tickets on here - not very important.

If we loose and wolves win, we could slip out of the play offs if results go against us on the last day of the season. With PNE flying at the moment and having nothing to play for, this could be a real possiblity.

This game is massive in my eyes - we have to get something from it.

I personally think we will be okay for the pray-offs, not because City are going to suddenly find thier form but because tomorrow Ipswich travel to Preston who currently lay 2nd in the form table and Wolves have tricky looking game away to Coventry.

I don't see either winning tomorrow or us for that matter but nevertheless we will then be out of reach and will finish in 6th and possbly have to play Hull or Stoke in the Play offs

If I was a betting man I'd have a punt on Palace to win the play-offs.

I wouldnt be too disappointed if we drew tomorrow. Id like to see us win but a point against a team in good form shouldnt be sniffed at and would give the lads confidence going into the final game against Preston. Of course Id like to see us win tomorrow but that will depend on what team turns up and their mental ability to turn over a team that have won most of their matches in the past month. I'm not even thinking about the play-offs yet, until were there whats the point? Lets just see what happens in the next 9 days. :)

That's if Palace actually make the playoffs.

Hull away and Burnley at home could see them on 69 points with Wolves on 70 if they get 4 points which is likely.

It's still wide open as of today, but by 5.50ish tomorrow we'll know how everything stands....it may go to the wire. :crying:

Fair point.

I just got this feeling that we'll all be seeing Warnocks face plastered all over our TV's with that play-off trophy lofted above his head, whilst the Sky pundits wax lyrical about how he's a footballing genius. :disapointed2se:

Also it would just be typical of the play-offs to get a side who have been on the fringes all season to come through on the final few weeks and win the play-offs, like Derby did last season.

I just hope our spot is secured tomorrow, I really don't fancy us having to beat Preston to qualify!

I'm with you on this. Something, pretty much anything in fact, that gives the lads some of the belief in themselves back would be a result. Which probably involves one or more of the following - winning, scoring a couple of goals (even if the end result is a reverse), one or two inspirational individual performances, a solid defensive performance, or a clean sheet. I so much want Trundle to be our inspiration (but don't want to turn this into another Trunds thread!).

I hope Palace end up missing out - because of Warnock and his brand of football and nastiness.

re Preston - It was bad enough last season with Rotherham, but that was a bit easier and an early goal settled all the nerves.

80 minutes gone and it's 0-0 with us needing a win will just about do me in.

Your not wrong.

That's why I plan to drink copious amounts of cider prior to the Preston match, it seems to suppress the senses thus should make watching much easier :innocent06:

Assuming we don't win tomorrow of course! would want to be negitive!

This is a massive game and a win would be a great confidence booster and more importantly would almost secure a home 2nd leg which is massive advantage IMO.

I reckon your opinion is spot on Riaz, but would settle for a point, hope the boys get a result anyway for a massive confidence boost, and of course for the thousands of supporters who are travelling up there :fingerscrossed:
