Never to the dark side
With FOUR police cars and SEVEN of Avon and ZUMMERZET finest occupied on Sundays with the bowling club fraternity of pensioners A guarentee from us City fans not to invade the pitch as its needed in tip top condition for our second home leg on wednesday week I presume our match against PNE will be designated a POLICE FREE match? 22A
Don't be silly, there's money to be made here. Despite their presence required elsewhere, the Police decide how many of their officers are required for each match, the Police decide how much to charge for each officer and if the club refuses, the Police withdraw the safety certidficate, so the game cannot go ahead. So basically, they can charge as much as they want! In some industries, they'd call that a cartel...
Flaxbourton Red
because we don't have a fence between the two sets of fans as requested by FORZA EASTEND the police will be viewing sunday as a nice little revenue earner with robocop turning up in full riot gear forming a human fence with handheld video cameras no doubt complete waste of taxpayers and bristol city's money

Red_Mat
It's called education, Sonny, but it was meant to be tongue in cheek :pancake: That's ok, I know it was only tongue in cheek - was just taking the mick. And I know what education is too, as the fact that I am currently studying for, and getting extremely stressed by, an MA will testify...

22A
On TV a prog was looking at lower league football in Scotland. At some places, the Police realise there is a lot of crime in town, so DON'T wastie their resources having their officers watching football games. Instead the local Constab is patrolling the streets on Satdee afternoon watching for burglars, drug dealers, muugers, rapists and other criminals. Some of the fans interviewed said English fans who look in for a game cannot believe there are no Police in those grounds.

22A
In the second half, I counted 20 policemen & women (all paid for by City) looking very bored and just leaning against walls or barriers. When at the end one guy did jump over the barrier to get on the pitch, he was grabbed and led away by a pair of Stewards. The Poice did nothing. If City and all the other clubs did not have to pay out so much in Police costs, admission prices could be lower. But it gets worse; at their conference, the Association of Chief Police Officers discussed charging clubs for Police on duty OUTSIDE the grounds as well. Next time some pop star or other celeb visits Bristol , will they be charged for any extra police on duty to marshall the expected crowd?
Geoff65
I found it strange with the amount of Police yesterday - coming out by the Wedlocks there were a troop of Policemen - why - were they expecting trouble? Had no one told them there was very little to play for, for both teams - or were thye just practising for the play off match?
tin
Yet they still managed to park three riot van's outside the Lions before the game. No hint or sign of trouble just everyone enjoying flag day up there. What their purpose was up there is beyond me.

screech
Absoloutely crazy amount of coppers there yesterday, had one by me in the eastend near the Preston fans who was one pumped up power tripper, then again he was short, so perhaps he felt having a bad temper made up for his lack of height. 22A
WOW!!! Here in P'boro' the Police have realised with Posh bring promoted, they'll have bigger crowds next season. Cambs Constab have issued a questionnaire for fans to fill in and rate the Police!!!! The form is on the Cambs Constab website so anyone can fill it in. The Police want to use fans' feedback so the Policing of matches and their relationship with the fans will improve!
