Guest little danny
Forum Users, I write to you in light of an injustice witnessed in front of your very eyes this afternoon at Ashton Gate. For months we have witnessed many of our fans try their luck in the half time game, 'through the belly - win a telly' competition. But today, the finale, I was watching it and ultimately I was left feeling incredibly annoyed, and I know I am not the only one. The reason was the winner. Anybody who doesn't know, the winner was Brendan Mitchell, aka Godzilla, aka the commentator on Bristol City World. His competition? Children. His prize? A £600 Television. I have nothing personal against this bloke, and he seems like a guy who has put a hell of a lot into the club. But there is no way in hell that he was randomly selected for that competition, and it seems a complete farce that the only hand-picked member of the competition went on to win it. I don't think Brendan should have entered that competition, and subsequently should therefore never have won. When I saw he was winning, I got a bit peeved, and further so when he went on to win. I fail to believe I'm alone. Please Discuss!
Guest Dannycidered03
Agree with you in some context, If you work for the club you shoulfn't enter. But i actual emailed David Lloyd every week for the chance for the cross bar challenge and through the belly comp and never had a reply. But well done Brendon, Shouldn't of been allowed to enter considering he works for the club

Guest
Jesus f*cking christ, the guy gave the TV away to charity. He had stated from the start that it was his intention to do so. We even had a facebook group to wind him up that he'd get less than a 9 year old (which he did in the first session) Furthermore he doesn't get paid for doing anything at AG, he does it as experience for his university course in media studies. Give the guy a break, he did it for a good cause and nothing else.

Dave L
Just to clarify, Brendon was randomly selected for the competition, as was everybody else. As Tom has said, he has always said he intended to give the prize to charity if he won it, which I think is very generous of him.

I guess many fans didn't know that Godzila gave away the TV (we don't all read facebook). The vast majority of fans are not in your little clique so are not always aware of the facts, it would have better for you to explain the facts with out resulting to blasphomy(sp) and swearing, other users have been banned for less. What an idiotic post. I'm hardly surprised TomF gets pissed off with ignorant muppets slagging off people who are doing a good deed. If people don't know the facts than why the hell are they accusing people of cheating? Who exactly has been banned for using a swear word that was caught by the filter? People were just asking question about some one works (unpaid) with in BCFC winning a TV. I think they have the right to ask the question don't you? I thought TomF post was a bit ott, he could of explained the situation with out abusing other fans and that goes the same for your post. Rarely do I snap but given I knew Brendon was doing it all for a good cause made me more annoyed that usual.
RedM
As ever I think there is a way to ask and another way to make a snide dig. My opinion, for what it's worth is that Brendan won the Tv fair and square and should be allowed to do what the hell he likes with it, and he has by donating it to charity which was very generous. He as as much right as anybody else to have a go. I hope anyone that moans will have the guts to attempt future similar competitions if there are any. Anyway, how can it be fixed??? Even if his inclusion could be seen as 'fortunate', he still had to kick more balls through the hole than the other contestants, which if I was listening right were winners from many previous weeks? And, no I don't know him personally.
Geoff65
Took the kicks further away than the rest of the competitors and got 3 in 40 seconds - usually the winner is someone who manages to get 1 in 60 seconds or got closest to scoring without actually doing it - well done son you deserved and to hear that you gave the Charity was a nice touch. Guest little danny
Guys, guys, guys, Please don't quarrel, as the original poster I requested a discussion merely. In truth, I was hoping for justification on why he can take a prize in such a situation, and TomF has answered that. So cheers to him and cheers to the blokes who realised this was all I wanted and didn't want to randomly have a go at someone. TomF I hope you realise from where I was standing that it seemed as though Brendan may have been watching the Play-off final in front of a fat TV! Because if that was the case it wouldn't have been right. Instead, to give the thing to charity only increases my mindset that the guy is a BCFC legend, so well done. Come on the boys
Nibor
Please don't quarrel, as the original poster I requested a discussion merely. If that was all you did then nobody would have been irritated but actually what you did was accuse people of cheating and rigging a competition on the basis of sod all knowledge about it. Perhaps you should have asked the questions first instead of saying that there was no way in hell he was randomly selected, was hand picked and calling the competition a farce? I would have thought an apology was in order myself.
Guest little danny
Nibor, The word molehill springs to mind. When I see someone physically embracing the bloke who was doing the timing, one doesn't automatically think 'That bloke's obviously giving his fat TV to Oxfam'. I wasn't the only one, I said to a mate I thought it was a bit of a joke having someone who works for City win the prize, and many around me were booing him. I have now retracted that opinion. My last post was clearly an apology to anyone who was offended, so another one isn't really needed. I'd hate to repeat myself. So maybe you should not tell me to apologise mate. If your still upset I apologise to also, but I'm sure you're more grown up than that. Discussion closed.
Nibor
I can't really see how your post qualifies as an apology for posting insulting b***ocks about people who work hard for the club for no reward but if you think it does I guess that will have to be good enough. I guess you're not grown up enough to apologise for slagging people off unjustly?

Yeah well said - we don't all look at facebook - I never have , so how would we know !!? Further more you are spot on about the little cliques on here which is why my choice was to stay away more rather than react to petty squabbles and comments. Unless you are in one of the little comfort groups its very rare that you get many replies from people other than to have a go at you. On the blasphomy side I got banned for calling someone a naughty word on here once, but I don't think the f word in this context is near to a ban...! Now we know its a nice gesture, fair play to the guy. Cant it be left at that...!!!!? If it cant then its another reason why the cliques on here always win....especially with people like you jumping on the band wagon.

Well, he accused the club of hand picking contestants for the competition, without all the facts. That was unnecessary and implied a level of corruption within the club, which is wholly unfair.
