  1. VAR a shambles -Shearer

VAR was used last season in the MLS. Atlanta United both benefited and were hurt from it. One occasion, a cross was headed back to the keeper by a Toronto defender. Some Atlanta players raised their arms and the video review was called for. Few fans saw anything wrong, but the video clearly showed use of the hand. So we were awarded a penalty. The other occasion I remember, our keeper came out and tackled the opposition striker outside the box when he was clean through . Nothing was awarded, but the video review was called for showed that he was clearly fouled. A red card was shown and a free kick given. At first I didn't like it, but it adds a little interest on those controversial key decisions. Goals and red cards.
  2. Favourite ' mistress ' clubs

Atlanta United. It's the only football I get a chance to watch live.
  3. Mapping our fan base

    Marietta, Georgia, USA.
  4. Jonathan Pearce

listening to that match over here on Fox Sports 1 while cooking in the kitchen, I heard reference to a dressing room meeting between Ernie Hunt and the commentator's hero, Gerry Gow. I guess we were getting the same commentary team?
  5. Mark Hughes Sacked

What has Mark Hughes ever brought to any club other than mediocrity at best? He’s been at big clubs with huge budgets but never seemed to have achieved anything. Yet his name is always out there when a mid-table Prem club is after a manager.
  6. I don't remember Millen ever sounding so half-wittish before. He seemed to have no clue. As for his comments about Premiere players being that much better, he saw that every week when they tore his Palace teams apart.
  7. Obviously!

I get annoyed at the "Yeah, no" at the beginning of interview answers. Dopey does it all the time. I believe our own Keith Millen used to do it too.

It froze a few times, which was annoying. Otherwise it seemed fine. Not that freezing a few times should be seen as acceptable.....
  9. Toronto FC win MLS Cup

They did. They made the play-offs too, but other teams had gotten wise to their tactics by the end of the season.
  10. Toronto FC win MLS Cup

Atlanta United played two good 2-2 draws with them during the season. They looked a good side.
  11. Supporting two teams?

Adopted Atlanta United as my second team. It's the only way I can get to to see live football. They're a new MLS franchise that started this year and made the play-offs in their inaugural season. They lost last night so that's it for this year. The crowds have been tremendous, with 72k on Sunday and 67k last night. It's actually refreshing to see such support, and they are on average a younger crowd. The older folks over here in general won't accept football/soccer (despite NFL losing popularity) so it's down to the younger ones to embrace the beautiful game, and they are doing so in droves.
