atyeoblockE
Well... Mixed game all round. But what do you feel on smoke bombs and the countries strict restriction on them? Personally I enjoy seeing them and feel they create atmosphere to matches. Of course Preston had I would say around 8,9,10 yesterday...even with a large no smoke/flare bin and sign! What do you feel on this topic?
Phileas Fogg
I love them but in their current form woukdnt be allowed. Wonder if a similar product could be produced that gives off colour without being smoke based?
Carey 6
I quite like them, feel they add to atmosphere and they also look good. After clubs/Dave Lloyds comments about them this week, it seems strange the stewards didn't check any Preston fans as they managed to get 6 in. kiwicolin
They are not good when the smoke comes your way and you can't see the game. Shouldn't be allowed at football matches. Stewards not doing their jobs properly.

Between heaven and hell
This. Looks fun from a distance but when you're next to it and can't see and it's getting on your chest, not so much fun. Best not visit Serbia for the eternal derby then. Check out the flares and smoke between Red star and Partizan on you tube, that would get a few coughing down the gate

BS4 on Tour...
I love anything that adds to the atmosphere at a game which is so often sterile these days. I can see both sides to the smoke bombs/flares argument - I know they can be very annoying to those right next to them and they fo pose certain health risks which alot of people choose to deny. But if they are effectively banned, how do they get into the ground? I'm often searched at home games - so how did PNE fans get their 'bombs' in?? Preston N.E
The last few posts on this thread explicitly highlight why your fans are so ridiculously poor. What a whiny set of old codgers. I bet they're loads of fun on bonfire night. Knocking on neighbours doors, whinging about noise & smoke. People like this are exactly why the English game has become so sterile. I never expected this attitude from Bristol City fans, to be totally honest. What a poor do. Last game of the season we let off about 100 smoke bombs in and outside the ground. A lot better than your paltry effort on Saturday. The responses above are mostly sarcasm... 054123
Don't be feel embarrassed mate. your lot weren't the first to get all fired up thinking that because there were 50 of them abd they had had a few then they must be hard as nails, only to discover away fans are housed in our quiet family/disabled supporteers stand. Fair play, even when they realised this they continued to play up to no one in particular. Must be the drink.

I know your making it into a joke, but that set of fans were laughable and it would have annoyed a few city fans who don't sit there for that. At the end of the game, I said to my friends I haven't seen such an angry set of fans for years. yes by all means. Go mob handed and try to fight in a pub full of lads, but a set of 40 or so people abusing a stand full of families, that just low life and uncalled for. I would have more respect if there was a mass organised fight, than what I would with how your fans behaved during the game.

As for our fans being ridiculously poor, I seem to remember going to Deepdale last year with the ground being half full and the atmosphere of a funeral. Irony eh?? We've had an absolutely bellringing set of young lads following us recently (past 2-3 yrs) and it seems to be getting worse. I'm used to it now though, so tend not to realize just what a shock it can be for opposition fans who obviously won't be expecting it. Hence me pissing around a bit. So I apologize about that. Hopefully no-one was hurt, or too offended.

If you think this is a true representation of BCFC then you are sadly mistaken, there are plenty of lads that follow us that would bring smoke bombs and flares to every game given the chance. Before you start insinuating all BCFC fans are sterile and plastic do a little bit of homework before hand. By the way have a look over on Ziderheads a much different slant on our fanbase over on that forum, trust me.

Generalising a bit here but feels like otib has a more conservative and older membership (age wise). Obviously exceptions and I may be well wide of the mark, but that's the impression I get. It is only a small sample of the support, other sites such as Ziderheads of When the moon shines are polar opposite. I do actually agree with some of what you say MR PNE! I like smoke bombs etc - would be great if there could be a safe type of them produced that would get past health and safety.

Smoke bombs will always be considered a hazard as they block visibility, Flares are actually quite unpleasant to both use and be around. I don't mind seeing either but don't particularly want the person in front of me waving it in my face If you really want to try safe legal options you could try those highly reflective Red bike lights... I can't see them being a health or safety issue. If a large group had them it could look quite good (or incredibly plastic depending on your view) though probably only at night games... though i suspect its the thrill of the heat of a flare that is what makes it so popular... I suspect City have had more fans arrested and banned for using smoke bombs or similar than most clubs. Several already this season and two young City fans received big fines and long football banning orders after last season's game at MKDons. Hence most will have learnt their lesson, as I suspect several of your fans from Saturday might in the near future. They'll definitely be going through the CCTV with a fine toothcomb. Rightly or wrongly they take it very seriously down here.
Admin phantom Posted November 24, 2014 Admin Report Share Posted November 24, 2014 I suspect City have had more fans arrested and banned for using smoke bombs or similar than most clubs Curious as to why you think this? Every week there are numerous photos from up and down the country of smoke bombs being used at all levels of football If anything I would have thought we have been very quiet on the use of them at City matches
WTMS
You're alright mate, I'll take your word for it.Google three lions flag days bristol That is organised by another website. Doing similar within the stadium results in a ban. Bristol City have banned fans for life for non violent offences. It isn't worth it. Several seasons ago an approach was made via the Supporters Trust to organise a pyro display with the permission of the club, it didn't get that far.https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8010/6973717624_5c7a5646b1.jpg
