Bristol City Into Europe?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, my name is Slavik, I am the one who sent the original invite for Bristol City fans to Mr. Lloyd.

I can see there is certain interest among people on this forum and I am very glad about it.

I really hope that you will manage to organize a team and make a trip to Lviv in June 2015 to represent

your club and country among fans teams from over 20 other European countries.

I am reachable on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/slavik.novytskyi), my e-mail address is

novytskyi@gmail.com

Please check a video clip made after Eurofan-2013 tournament, which gives you a better understanding

of what our tournament is all about:

Cheers,

Slavik

That video makes it look like a great event.

I've been contacted by Marina's Rolls Royce who has local contacts in Lviv and is happy to take on the logistics - travel etc. What we now need is a team manager who will take responsibility of selecting around 15 players to go over to Lviv and represent Bristol City and the City of Bristol.

As I said earlier in the thread I'm not in a position to get too involved in this. Partly because of pressure of work, and also as I believe if this is to succeed it needs to be a a fan-led, fan-organised and fan-funded event.  Once you've got a team and a travel plan, I'm happy to arrange for kit and any other  help that we can give to help oil the wheels. Even if I can just a  act as a catalyst to get everyone together, that might be my useful contribution. I can also get in touch with the local SLO in Lviv.

In the first instance, may I suggest that if you are interested in going on the trip as a player, and/or as team manager, that you get in touch with Marina's Rolls Royce by PM? He might be able to give you a rough idea of the cost and duration of the trip. Once we've gauged the level of serious interest we can proceed.

As we have so many potential Managers already on this forum :chant6ez: - who's up for putting a squad together? Maybe even someone you know ( obviously a City fan!) who you could ask if they were interested as well as local players you know.

I'm sure that if we get a team together and enter the Tournament then Dave L will do all he can to help out. I've got loads of ideas but need a Manager to put the team together. Although the entertainment/socialising will be a great part of the trip- it's BCFC's chance of a European Trophy ( not a common event) so we need to put together a really good side as well.

Going by this thread I think there is 13/15 of you that are interested in going over. You probably need another 5 more just in case anyone drops out. Might need to post it on other city forums to see if you can get some more interested.

I was looking at this link the other night, I thought it might help unless you can find a better one. Check out the air flights etc.

Like someone else mentioned if I was 30 years younger I would have gone.

No reason not to come as a supporter! Perhaps we could combine the trip as a Promotion celebration? :fingerscrossed:

Slavik also says:

I told you about other invited teams from the UK and the Republic of Ireland but

also there should be fans' teams from Germany, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Austria,
Finland, Netherlands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland,
Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Ukraine of course and some
other countries hopefully, in January 2015 I think there should be more detailed provisional list
of participating teams.

I'm well up for this as manager.

I've been to Cardiff twice (OK, we lost both times but I wasn't in charge) so experienced in Europe.

My mantra is that in these kind of tournaments it's not the results but the performance.  I don't even look at the table.

I like players who will take decisions for themselves e.g. if you've had 3 pints is it your turn for the fourth round?

And will make the right decision e.g. "Yes" ,unless it's me making the decision in which case "Stupid question".

I'm confident that given the right time (say 3 or 4 weeks) that with the people who have volunteered we could really be building something...hang on...the English FA are on the other line...hold the line...

As discussed with MRR I'm definately up for playing as my primary contribution, but I would be happy to chip in the managing with someone else? Perhaps we should get an email address set up for this and get everyone who is interested and definitely committed to send an email stating so. You need a squad of 15-16 really.

Thanks Cosmos UK- perfect!

Please think about it everybody - there's loads of talent here on OTIB - put yourself forward even if you can't make the trip!

P.s  Spudski - where are you?  We just need a bit of help and direction - I'm doing my best to make the trip happen but I'm not a football tactician , scout or manager etc!!!

Come on guys- great trip, great opportunity and we just need fans experience and help even if you can't make the trip!

Every little helps.

As it was mentioned in the invitation,

our tournament is rather a non-competitive one. The "third half" i.e.

drinking beer together with fans from all Europe, socializing, making new friends and

having fun is no less important than results achieved on the football pitch.

Professional or semi-professional players are not allowed, we expect to

have only amateurs which are also football supporters.

The official motto of the EUROFAN is: Football, Friends, Fun - enjoy EuroFan!
