Here in Spain as far as I know the tv dictates where people sit in the stadiums. When they have live games (Barca,Madrid doesn't count) They have to sell tickets for games opposite to the filming of the game or face a fine making it look a full stadium. It's got to be the most important thing as a T.V sport the crowd,the atmosphere. The day it's only a sport for television is the day football is F..... Sorry Spud no fans no game. Not really - many reasons: 1) People are remarkably susceptible to advertising, marketing and brand. 2) Premier League is a closed shop with decisions taken purely in the interest of the clubs in it, there is no motivation to change. 3) Fans might want to revolt against the Premier League but they can't really fail to support their own club. 4) Smaller clubs are continually bribed by the fallacy of trickle down economics and threatened by the top clubs trying to pull up the ladder. 5) FA are completely neutered and have basically handed the future of English football to the top six or eight clubs via the EPP. 6) Government don't have the balls necessary to intervene for the good of the game at grassroots. It's a shit show and it will be until something drastic and unforeseeable happens, which I think will be a long, long time sadly. In the mean time I just try and enjoy watching City. I think that even with all the massive over commercialisation of the game that the way to keep a big fanbase is for everyone to take their children, not stupid young, but old enough to understand, you know, 6-8 upwards, 1 or 2 games and they will be City fans for their lives, even if it is subconciously. Even if they give up for a while they will always come back because it always diffferntiates them from the so called plastics. You misunderstood me fella...I wasn't saying it was a good thing. I was just making a point, that it's not just football, but the majority of sport throughout the world that has a drop in attendances, Because of TV and other alternatives to attend.
