Seemed like he thought it was a yellow, but his linesman ( who probably had the better view) told him on his earpiece that it was a red.

Watching it again he has a perfect view.

Good shout. Seeing it a few times. I would say yellow. But it’s so inconsistent. Also the actions of the Wigan players and management was poor.

Not that old myth again! In their Premier League years they averaged between 17k and over 20k for their eight seasons....that’s 19% of Wigan’s population....

Most away teams, and there are a lot within an hour of Wigan, we’re able to take about 6-8 k away fans.

Thats the only reason there average looks decent.

That seems to be the reason Pep and his coaching staff were angry, more to do with the Wigan reaction than the referees decision.

True. One caveat though - that included a packed away end for every game.

Incredible population rise in Wigan, then! Assuming it was also 19% of the people of Wigan at Springfield Park watching them v us in the Third Division in the 1980s as well!

Fair play the old girls of Wigan!

Not true, their away end holds 5k and not every prem team took that following to Wigan....there was never 5k away fans there every other week and even if there was the Wigan fans there would represent over 14% of their population....surely you can see that is phenomenal support?

It is good, but they also have a decent, populated catchment too to bolster support.

Wahey! Of course 19% of Wigan’s population didn’t watch them at Springfield Park! But even back then 3% of their population turned up to watch them...that favourably compares with the 4% who turn up to watch our club today...
