Good Idea to Increase Otib Fiver Contributions

Having viewed the Sheffield Wednesday forum these last couple of days I couldn't help noticing that it is similar in design to Otib. However, it seems that with newish posters they label them as Sheffield Wednesday Youth Team, those with more posts are Sheffield Wednesday Reserves and those, possibly with over a thousand posts are Sheffield Wednesday first teamers.

This set me to thinking. I know that those of us who contribute a fiver a year to Otib appear in purple and are called supporters which is fair enough, but maybe if we adopted the Wednesday system and adapted it so that those who hadn't paid were called Bristol City trialists and those who had were called Bristol City Youth Team, Reserves or First Team dependant upon how many posts they had made it might encourage a few more to part with their fivers.

Perhaps it should be based on number of likes rather than volume of posts.

Quality over quantity!

But likes are used in different ways, there are some on here that have analysed situations in detail and come to conclusions that I agree with but unfortunately don't like.

Used to be like this back in the day on OTIB. If you type the old web address into archive.org (forum.bcfc.co.uk) and click on a name, you'll see.

Rovers Gaschat has similar now with their members...

I've been visiting Owlstalk since we played at their place and I like the idea of posters 'earning' different levels based on the various stages that young footballers experience.

Their emoji's are crap tho. In fact they're not emoji' at all but human faces.

How about taking it a step further, assign a random status to users that have consequences attached, e.g.

- 'scapegoat' (your posts will automatically get 5 rubbishes applied, anyone trying to like your posts will be banned for a day),

- 'honorary Swede' (you can't post to a thread until there are 85 posts, and its game over for you around the 90-95 post mark. You might find that you can only post to Swedish football forums for part of the year.)

- 'coach' (you can post under three different pseudo identities, but only one may be active between each game; you can throw selected users 'under the bus' if we are in a winless run.)

- 'happy-clapper' (you will be assigned a random user each week and must defend their posts, however unreasonable. Someone will have to defend @kachina if he ever posts again.)

-'potty-mouth' (The swear filter will be inactive for you and you will receive automatic likes based on amount of profanity used. Three consecutive days swear free and your ass is banned.)

Right. Time to get ready for the game.
