  2. Is it just me? The world has become such a vastly different place so quickly and staying safe & looking after your friends and family has become so important that I honestly haven’t had time to miss football at all. I couldn’t tell you who we were supposed to be playing today either as the iPhone calendar has gone and the OS has removed them too. Have I gone mad or is football just not as important as we used to think it was?

  3. Hi all, After watching The Big Match Revisited on BT Sport earlier, I decided to take a walk down to Ashton Gate for my daily exercise. I think my main highlights are the first 10 photos, which is my usual routine on a match day. From checking I have my season ticket just before I leave, and seeing Ashton Gate throught the gaps in the houses on Raynes Road, to just seeing Turnstile Entrance 26-30 again, really gave me a buzz, even if there wasn't any football to watch. The last one is pretty good too - at this point it's safe to say I wasn't exercising, but stopped for a few minute

  6. The point is, I have not renewed so far as the club seems to be showing a complete lack of ethics/compassion in regards to season ticket renewals.

  10. Well done everyone! I did the Bath Half in 1:44 which was good but very slow start due to amount of people! Currently done 60k so far this week and 440k this year, still really enjoying it especially now the weather has got a bit nicer.

  12. Just discovered this thread. I’ve been running for thirty plus years but never to a great standard. These days I’m chuffed to get under 60 mins for a 10k and 28 for 5k. Running is now on hold as I’m in the “shielding” category for the current crisis, having had a kidney transplant (courtesy of my wonderful wife) in 2013. I’ve ordered a turbo trainer for my bike which will hopefully partially fulfill my cardiovascular fitness.

  13. After your lot activity wanting us to go bust in 82 and trying to get your hands on Ashton gate. The block by rovers over a bail out by the council. I for one would celebrate joyously if you went bust ( not that I think it’ll happen) . Bring people together ! when it’s suits you and are in the shit. Boot on the other foot you’d have it on our throats . Not a chance in hell it would happen .

  16. More like LJ losing his mind and keeping Flint up front after we scored! Probably the worst decision hes ever made. Wolves looked knackered and couldnt be arsed. We only had to shut up shop and see it out. Certainly set the tone for our nose dive that season!

  17. Not so much me, but my little boy Elliott. We met Scott through a friend & he organised for Elliott to have a little tour before the Sheffield Utd game last season. We ended up going into the changing rooms, meeting all the players & Lee Johnson. Scott gave Elliott an adult home shirt so the players could sign it. Each & every player were brilliant with Elliott & Scott’s act of generosity I will never forget. One funny moment was when Marlon & Patterson asked who was Elliott’s favourite player, he said “Bobby Reid”! My dad died on the Wednesday of that week & for that 3

  18. I am not missing football at all . Since the start of the new season , sponsored by Corona, Mrs Isewater and I have been training well . There are no injuries to report . Today we kicked off early at 7.30 am and had breakfast as normal, Four sausages , four tomatoes and two eggs leaving us just a little short at the back . At half time, Mrs Isewater did some essential food shopping away from home . She bought in some reserves , which was the goal. Chicken drumsticks gave us some fresh legs . When we restarted we lined up in an attacking formation. A

  21. Sadly I haven't renewed my season ticket. I feel the club should have paused sales until we had a better idea of what was going to happen with the rest of this season and next season. Having £500+ tied up for something nobody has any idea if it will happen or not is something I'm going to do at the moment.

  23. I could only foresee a situation where any 15er's 'supporting' a United team at AG would start singing their own songs, of course including the dirge - in the pubs beforehand and during the match only to be shouted down by the rest of us. Rather than uniting support it would cause a division amongst our home crowd which I could see spilling into nastiness before, during and after home games. It would never work. Too many people with very long memories. I would never go to watch a United team. I've been a lifelong red - CTID and FTG not UTID. It's a no from me.

  27. I have mentioned on a previous thread that I was flabbergasted then the club has no compassion, in the current situation. Its beggars belief that the club is pressing on as 'business as usual' bearing in mind we are suffering the biggest global pandemic in human history. If the club SLO are reading this post, please can you convey our concerns that the club is pressing for season 20/21 renewals, when there are so much uncertainty about whether the 19/20 season can complete. The thing is, most football club directors do not run the club for the fans and treat it very much as a busines

  31. The one and only John Atyeo holds the record for fastest ever City goal; "Atyeo also created Bristol City history on 16 March 1957 scoring after only nine seconds of the match v Bury which City went on to win 2–0 with Atyeo scoring both goals. This still remains as the fastest ever goal scored in a match by a Bristol City player."

  35. I'm currently reading a book about City's all time record cap holder for England - Billy Wedlock - and it's quite an eye opener to hear that back in the late 1890's, Bedminster and Bristol City(formally Bristol South End) we're major rivals, and yet they wanted to move forward and become a powerhouse in footballing terms, and so amalgamated. Similar circumstances to what you're describing as there was a strong rivalry between the two, and pretty much all of the assets from one club was used compared to the other, the exception being the two grounds, whereby the newly merged club shared gr

  36. Hey Norn Iron, you live over there now, what do you call it? Great question. Thanks for asking me! I live on the North Coast. The vast majority of people from Derry/Londonderry (as the non-offending BBC calls it but a Radio DJ added Stroke City to the moniker and it has become the new nickname) are more than happy to call it Derry. This definitely includes most but not all Protestants. Why? Well for one reason it's easier to say and quicker! Here's what I subsequently found on Wikipedia... The name "Derry" is preferred by nationalists and it is broadly used throughout Nort

  37. Signed him on deadline day IIRC. Their strong run was already underway, 6-7 unbeaten but Mitrovic doubtless sent them up another gear or two. Actually 23 unbeaten, brilliant. Beat most top end sides in that run, they really should've kept a lot more of their side last season and made incremental changes IMO. As for us, our FFP headroom just wasn't there- certainly not January 2018. January 2019, maybe could've done a bit more. January 2008 though...FFP wasn't even considered as a concept then, we could have rolled the dice in a bigger way. Like say Stoke did wit

Because of his status as a well-known footballer it was of course ill-advised but I think we've got slightly bigger issues to worry about at the moment. No doubt the same people chirping up about this are the same people that voted Brexit which will bring a united Ireland closer to reality, cheers guys

  39. Sorry it's a bit late, I've been a busy busy since full time... Match report from today which I shared with some friends and thought I would share here: Well the first half got off to a ropey start as I entered the field of play with two 50p pieces and an early subsituation was needed for a £1 coin. I admit it was a bad start and very unsettling. I quickly overcame this bad start and made a strong recovery picking up the Norwegian Salmon-Prawns and Fruitnveg on the left hand side. Towards the end of the first half I had to call my mum to see if it was worth bringing on

  40. IF, and although this is obviously hypothetical it suddenly doesn't seem so far fetched, football & society is devastated by this virus, with thousands of deaths and dozens of clubs Rovers being one of them, go to the wall. If then City survive and the league is reformed into a much smaller number of clubs, what would you think if Lansdown announced a proposal to merge the clubs, call them Bristol United , play in red and blue etc, and he is doing it purely as a gesture to bring people together after a catastrophic period of history, what would you think? I'm not trying to be flippa

I don't defend his misplaced attempt at humour in this Instagram post. Although the caveat there is that humour is personal: I can laugh at things that other people may find abhorrent, distasteful, offensive, whatever. I do defend his right to ply his trade in the UK, whether that is NI or England. I don't support the monarchy, but it doesn't cause me a moral dilemma by drawing a salary in sterling. I don't know anything of his other actions q
