  3. Spunked £24 mil on Jordon Ibe only to release him for zero in 3 years & £16 million on Solanke who will be in league 2 in 2 years time, biggest fraud in football going. Bournemouth were no fairytale, just look in to their promotions to see that.

  4. The most interesting thing about that is that Jon’s scribbled arrow on his edited photo is very reminiscent of his training gear design from a couple of years ago.

  5. Would be extremely surprised if a manager who just got fired for poor performance from a mid table championship club got a job at a decent premiership one.

  6. A few years ago Weymouth had a disastrous season and after a 9-0 defeat it was found the Manager & owner had bet heavily on the other team to win. Weymouth dropped deeper into football's pyramid. They have slowly rebuilt though and today they won the Nat League South P/O so next season will be in the Nat League.

  9. How you can cast judgment on a person without having any interactions with that person? Just because he makes provocative tweets every once in a while! It's his way of having dialogue with fans. If it ain't your flavour fair enough but you're being a bit harsh. You just seem bitter yourself, his old man is loaded doesn't automatically make him a 'total knob'

  10. *Cook - of all the recent managers we’ve had, and all the potential ones being discussed, surely Cook has the surname which is the easiest to spell correctly?!

  11. Right back at the start of this recruitment “process”, I said on Forever Bristol City podcast that I thought it shouldn’t be all give, give, give from the new manager, e.g. accepting budget, structure / reporting etc, and that City might have to flex to get the right man. It can’t be a one way street if the club want to get the best man with the best fit to achieve the future aims of the club. I think this is exactly the roundabout City and the potential managers are on at the mo. They had it easy with Lee, because he was happy to tow the line. I bet he’ll learn from this. Cit

  15. Indeed, that's fair. What I really hate is people making sweeping 'opinions' that are stated as fact, i.e. 'he's a yes man', 'he's a cheap option', when the reality is they haven't got the faintest idea about their relationship with the board or the finances involved etc.

  16. A manager who has well over achieved with an average squad and played considerably more entertaining football than we have, despite us having a considerably stronger squad? On that basis I’m more than happy to be underwhelmed.

  22. My hopelessly optimistic take is that Lansdown will know pretty much everyone wants Hughton and he wouldn’t be engaging in this sort of tease if it was anyone else.

  25. I don't expect miracles from Jon Lansdown. As there's obviously a reason his father has chosen not to have him involved in all his other businesses. However, knowing how tense everyone is about the new manager appointment; and when its going to happen etc; that was a poorly thought out tweet today from him. It would have helped of course, if he'd retweeted later as well; to say "nothing imminent etc".

  32. Not in a million years. The hype around LJ is ridiculous. He's acheived nothing of note other than not take us down having had huge backing. LJ's going to have prove himself the hard way lower down the pyramid if he's willing I think. Can't see him getting a Premier League job as a No.1, and he'd be a risk at Championship level so think it doubtful. Could see him on TV or radio as a pundit as has the gift of the gab with sense of humour which seems to go down well there.

  33. I speak to lots of other football fans through work etc and the general consensus when we sacked Johnson was one of shock. Unless you watch us week in, week out, as we do, he’s seen as someone who took us from relegation fodder to almost good enough for the top six. His stock is still pretty high outside of Bristol IMO and will definitely be in contention for Championship jobs that come up for sure, but like you I would be surprised if Burnley were seriously interested.

  34. Rather than a points deduction which can be fudged seemingly, how about just relegation if found guilty of such "crimes".

  35. Ffs, we have no games for ages, the players are having a break and we don't appear to be that active in the transfer market yet. If the club feel like they want to take time to decide who our next gaffer is, now would be the time to do it. Whether they make the right decision remains to be seen but I, personally, have no issues with the club taking their time over this. However, if Holden or Macallister get the job after all this I will not be impressed.

  41. But it can't be on the roof today because the Sports Bar is open for the FA Cup so someone would have seen it and tweeted about it by now. Which means it was done before today and can't be Cook - probably Hughton. Perhaps the balance of his Brighton contract expired July 31st.

  42. Nick, it would be far easier if we just went back in time to May 2015 and persuade Steve L to buy Andre Gray and Harry Maguire, and properly back the team that Cotts got promoted from League One. While you're doing that I'll pop over to China and tell the Wujan Clan that eating bats is a bad idea. Back to the future and we'll be a Premier League stalwart and Cotts will have been awarded the freedom of Bristol. Definitely, a dry Natchthorn day.

  43. Some light hearted relief amongst all the manager talk! ------------------------------ "I ask the Holy Spirit where they're going to kick. "He said 'left' and I said 'thank you'. I went to the left side and I saved the ball, so today I was very blessed." ------------------------------ As has become a customary little lockdown game in this household, I just went out to the garage to select, with my eyes closed, some plonk from the latest delivery for Mrs Bristol and I to drink this evening, and what should come out of the box? For those too young to remember

  45. Nothing personal to you. But what would appease you? What information or update would you need? See I just don't get it. Me personally I don't need an update. I just need a conclusion. The club are going through process. I think its like buying a striker, under contact at another club. Then times that by at least 2 or 3. Couple that equation with the fact the club have some strict criteria, and I think it's valid, this is a hugely difficult process. To find that person, potentially sack those already we have in employment, and do it by all accounts, the proper way will take t

  46. We've been supporters long enough to know whatever the club say in the media, some fans will twist it to make it seem worse than intended. The most sensible option for the club (any club for that matter) is to say nothing and only say something once contracts have been signed. I actually agree with the media silence from the club until they have something concrete to tell us. Otherwise its just irrelevant platitudes to please the impatient. Surely nobody would be interested in Mark Ashton saying ' we have looked at all the available options, and we know the type of person we, as
