A gangster suspected that his accountant was cheating him and decided to sack him. Really pissed off by now the gangster pulled out his hand gun, held against the accounts temple and said “tell him that if he doesn’t tell me where the money is I’ll blow his bloody head off” So the solicitor signed the question and this time the accountant replied “there’s a 100 grand in a hold-all buried in my garden behind the shed” ‘What did he say? asked the gangster. “He says that you haven’t got the guts to pull the trigger......”

Two old guys, been friends all their lives. Went to school together, worked for the same company, married each other’s sisters. Played in the same sports team their favourite sport being cricket. Ignore the the thread then. I moaned a lot about being tricked into clicking on misleadingly-titled threads about women's football in the Football section but now that there is a single clearly-titled women's football thread it is easy to avoid and I do so. (Fair play if people are interested in women's football but I'm not)

Christ, and I thought I was getting on. Saw the remnants as a kid but believe it shut up shop shortly before I was born. Recently came across an old map of now defunct racetracks (both dogs and speedway,) and unbelievable how many there were and also where they were around the UK. I recall my old man saying just how big the dogs and speedway were in comparison to football, at how folks used to GO OUT to spectator events all the time rather than sit at home. Different era.

Have you ever seen it live? It’s not my thing either, but I did go to watch it at Eastville a couple of times, and must admit it was quite exciting. Noise, smell speed etc. Feel the same about powerboat racing: not something I’d ever watch on TV, or go out of my way to, but in Bristol Docks it was something else.

Really? A loud, noisy spectacle with risk and close racing. I'd sooner understand your view if you were talking about horse racing. Spend all day at a track and see horses run past maybe a dozen times, while stood next to idiots on the pi**. Of course, all IMHO.
