  1. I have highlighted a different sentence there, the gaslogic of, "if they hadn't won as many games as they have, they might be looking at relegation". In other posts he apparently has said that "bears have been known to defecate in the woods" and that he has it on good authority that "the pope has a preference for Catholicism".

  2. I agree the interviews are long, but never boring imo. Compared to our last 2 managers I could listen to NP all day. Imagine 30+ minutes of LJ - no, I'd rather not either! Nige is clearly a great bloke as well as a vastly experienced football man, who players with anything at all about them - so not every current City player by any means - will respond positively to. He's just the job for the club and the fans. Get it done SL.

  3. Some of you will remember the sad news I shared a few weeks ago of a lifelong City fan passing away. His partner is making all the memorabilia he has collected since the 1960s available for City fans to purchase for a small donation His collection ranges from a 1960s training top to videos/ DVDs, clothing, pictures, hundreds of programmes etc etc Items will be available at the WESTON-SUPER-MARE LIFEBOAT SHOP on SUNDAY 18th APRIL 10am - 4pm CLICK HERE FOR DIRECTIONS The items will be mostly on show but obviously as there is so much not everything will be taken, so if you want to pop along to discuss what is available please do so. Additionally if you would like to enquire as to what is available please PM me and I will forward you the details of someone who can assist A small example of what is available is shown below

  4. It always amuses me when Gastards try to make out we have the unlimited spending power of PSG or Manchester City, like we should be winning the Champions League every year or something but are merely an established Championship side. The fact is, there wasn’t much between the two clubs for much of our respective histories - since the turn of the century we have accelerated away from them both on and off the pitch, and we’ve hardly ripped up trees. It’s really testament to how rancid they’ve been on and off the pitch for the past two decades. Have I been frustrated with the one-step-forward-two-steps-back saga of the past few seasons? Absolutely. Am I “unhappy” as a City fan? No. Would I trade places with the Scum over the river? Not for all the fake Fanta in China, sunshine.

  5. Gert brilliant video, Gert. "The Rovers players let the whole of Bristol down..." !!! ??? What a dumb-ass ! More accurate to say "the Rovers players brought joy and unbridled delight to 90% of those residing in Bristol and surrounding areas" Possibly one of the happiest days of my life. Made even better by the weeping, wailing and incriminations on the radio from those utterly bewildered, distressed and totally humiliated Fewers. If Carlsberg did relegations, they couldn't do a better one than this. Thanks for the memory.

  6. I've got no objection to JL on the board per se. What I think is if you're going to have the owner's son as chairman, get some people with proven football experience on the board. Doug Harman was a very high-powered businessman, but not in anything to do with sport. Get in some experience, to help out the decision-making process with practical knowledge.

  7. This debate comes up on a regular basis ,'the green eyed monster' ! If you are measuring status purely by material 'wealth' then there is no debate but there are many ways you can measure 'wealth' richness, and whatever . I know for a fact that fans of other clubs regard Bristol City as 'cash rich' but Rovers as the richer club on many other scales, it is difficult to explain but most Rovers Fans will know what i mean. I have watched rugby at Ashton and i am impressed with the set up but not jealous in any way, yes i would like a better stadium but would be happy with a 14- 15000 redeveloped Mem, enough for our needs imho. Has the material wealth made City Fans happy? well if you listen to them on G/T post match most Saturdays, far from it! they are worse than us lot at moaning! There was one on the other week , so called 50 year fan ,who said it was the worst time ever! really,? they have very short memories, 4th division , bankruptcy and all that! For all there material wealth they are not that far in front of us on the pitch. Someone will no doubt be able to check, but i would not mind betting that take away Cities 5 game winning opening to season and substituting the points average from the rest of the season instead then they would be in, or very close to a relegation place! I am proud to follow Rovers , proud of our fans who stuck with the club through all sorts of 'crisis'. Twerton, National league, and the rest and i do not look across town with envy, but with pity for 'poor little rich kids' who have everything but can not find happiness, up the Rovers! How they seriously believe this shit is totally beyond me, this poor little Sag knows it to be 'fact' but it's apparently difficult to explain, yet most Sags knows what he means! That would be down to Gaslogic and the amount of BS they all spout, that when it's said enough it becomes fact. No fanbase anywhere like that lot.

  18. When I say "Nigel Pearson" I actually mean Bob Mortimer on the surreal, but funny, Athletico Mince podcast, talking about about our Gaffer's appointment at City. Apologies to regular listeners as I'm late to this particular party, having been introduced by a friend in the North two days ago. Go to 30:32 at the following link: Ep. 111 - Brainstormer by Athletico Mince | Podchaser I will bring a fighting culture to the club and I will leave without losing a single fight.

  19. In the early 80s we went through far more than they’ve ever had to and nearly lost our club altogether. We came the other side and thanks to consistent support from our fans along with ambitious owners we’ve got the club and facilities we have now....nothing World beating but far more than they’ve ever managed in their shit nothingness of existence. Our fans have always shown more loyalty than them and the numbers back that up. Some fans from outside do pity them, that’s true, but they’re nowhere near as loved as they think they are. In fact, most fans around the country couldn’t give a toss about either of us. Not that it matters. Where it DOES matter is in the hearts of actual Bristolians. In that category they’ve always been in our shadow.... ...maybe they’re not as special as they think they are after all They’ve got the tents and L1 relegation battle their placid, tiny support deserve.

  21. Reading Holden’s and O’Neil’s comments on this it’s clear that no-one in football except for the person(s) who appointed Dean as Head Coach thought for even a second it was the right time in his career to be stepping into a role like that.

  22. Didn’t Mark Ashton, late of this parish, give Boothroyd his first managerial gig at Watford, having been colleagues with him in the WBA cartel that has now infected Ipswich? We know Cook and Ashton didn’t get on in the summer. We know someone who Ashton is buds with who is a “name” coach (but rubbish) is available Were I an Ipswich fan, I’d be shitting myself.

  26. My late father claimed a lot of credit for sending the Few packing to non-league (sorry I meant Division 5). After a good year of football betting where he was a couple of grand up overall he put a £5 single bet on a Rovers win on every Tesco Bags match for the last 5 weeks of the season and used to say "I'll get the bastards relegated". The worst that can happen is that you'll be reasonably compensated if they drag themselves out of the mire!!

  32. The only jets of his that have flown this week both landed in Bristol yesterday evening. One from Guernsey, one from Bermuda. They’ll have to quarantine for 10 days but can apply for an early release test on day 5. So presuming this was both JL & SL arriving, they can take a private test on Monday and if cleared they can then start face to face meetings. Interestingly, Steve’s plane, before picking him up, hopped off to Warsaw for 3 hours earlier the same day. Dziekanowski coming in as assistant manager maybe??

  36. True, you did sell a number of players for a combined c£40m. But, You spent almost double that replacing them! You paid fees for 16 players (plus another on loan), including £30m on 3 forwards. Given you named 39 different players in the matchday squad, I have doubts that you needed to spend £80m recruiting 17 players.

  37. Seems highly likely that Simpson won’t be fit, so could be 2 places up for grabs if he’s out. Towler missed out v Forest so he is highly likely to be one of them.

  38. Yep. Good carry that was. I do really like Ostigard. I’d noted him on the recruitment thread as being OOC, but apparently Brighton do have a 1 year option. Not 100% sure they’ll take it up as I don’t think Ostigard wants to be there any more. He mentioned last year after being loaned to St Pauli that he didn’t want to stay at Brighton to be a back up. Given they’ve got Dunk, Webster, White, Veltman, Burn, Clarke, Duffy all in that position, as well as a couple of other 20 year olds out on loan, I wonder how keen he’d be on staying and Brighton might let him leave. Even if they trigger the year, we should still look to loan him.

  43. My first reaction to that is well, he has been employed by Watford... My hunch is that whilst Pearson does want the job, he is at the stage in his life & career where he is far more relaxed about these things than when he took his first couple of managerial positions or was in his 40s. Said this before, he is planning for next season because that is how we works anyway. I could be wrong but I think as soon as we are mathematically safe, probably by next weekend, it will be done. Strangely Ashton going might work in his favour, despite being here a short while NP is suddenly the continuity on the 1st team football side at the club. He isn’t the one doing the appointing, is he? What’s he supposed to say? I wish the owner would crack on with it?

  44. Yes, Crooks is a massive unit and for me is ideal as a DM. They’ve been using him as a second striker quite a lot lately, probably because they’re not playing through the middle and trying to utilise his height up top. After the last subs, they did drop him deeper and he started getting more ball. But for me, you won’t see the best of him in the way they played him last night, as the SS. James played well, a quietly decent game. As per my recruitment thread, I had Ostigard on my ‘wanted’ list. I mentioned on there what a hell of a leap he has in the opposition box, which proved true last night - excellent example of how he attacks the ball. Hyam had a good game too.

  45. Doubt it. Pearson's son - son! - has already said he doesn't talk like that at home and it's just a technique he uses to buy himself time whilst answering, all the while telling himself "don't call him an ostrich, don't call him an ostrich". It's called learning from your mistakes. Fair play to him. Imo, Pearson is mustard keen and, if there are any doubts, they're on the owner's side - which is why he wants a face to face meeting.

  46. These things are far too long for my liking. Can't imagine they're any fun for Nige either. I'm sure he's got better things to do with the time. Or am I wide of the mark? Is this the sort of thing (younger?) fans want to see/hear as part of the modern media?
