  1. They do put the Tit in Titanic..... I have to admit I don't find these funny in the slightest. To be honest I find them disrespectful and in very poor taste indeed. Don't get me wrong, Hitler was an evil son of a bitch, but even he doesn't deserve to be labelled a Gashead!!!!

  2. I wanted to make some sort of post on here, as today I lost my father. Without him, I wouldn't be a robin. The excitement you got when he got you the newest top ready for the new season. Shielding me on those cold and rainy days at the gate. Celebrating and cheering on the way home on the radio at the results of the other teams. Simply chatting about and watching football on the telly. And all the other things in between. Thank you, and I'll love you always.

  5. My mum's favourite, all us kids knew all the words. Sat around the wireless, no telly then, listening to dramas like Quatermas and Cabin in the clearing. My abiding memory of the football results was following a 1958 6-1 opening day win at home to Rotherham the Tuesday night game result was read out. Barnsley 4 Bristol City SEVEN Then we lost 4-0 away to Sheffield United on the Saturday. Result heard on the trannie whilst bathing in the Pool ( Tropicana ) at W-S-M. Bloody useful them new fangled transistors.

  6. Both clubs would be good subject matter for an Amazon documentary next season. All or Nothing - A Tale of Two Bristols (aka A Tale of Two Titties)

  8. Great minds think alike. Here's the reprise of the version I wanted recorded when they excited The Football League: "Playing at home but you are watching alone, As no one else will go – Downs League. The White and the Blue but the kit’s all worn through, The Keeper’s arse on show – Downs League. Just listen, green with envy, to the crowd down at The City, Money’s tight the standard’s shite still trading more’s the pity, Watching you lose. The fights are more spiteful there, And you are deep, deep in trouble, worse nobody’s cares, 'Cus you’re - Downs League, It’ll be great when you're - Downs League, City can’t wait till you’re - Downs League. Oblivion is waiting for you....

  9. I read OTIB every day. I read the latest on this thread every day. I read it at around 5:30pm yesterday evening then went out. Of course, I kept abreast of the scores and was well aware of the perfect storm swirling over the swamp. At around midnight, I looked at OTIB to see 15 unread pages on the newly renamed thread and it was past 1:30am before I reached the end. I'd like to thank each one of you utter bastards for keeping me awake so late and providing me with so many laughs!

  10. Could be quite a lucrative move by Wally. If he fines Joey 2 weeks wages for each week he doesn't show up, anything over 6 months and KERCHING! PROFIT.

  11. Well I have to say that I genuinely thought the Gas would pull clear when whatshisface Kravat came in. Then they announced he had been sacked barely 3 months after arriving. Then Ballsy Joey arrived and I thought that's a bit left field but ok, maybe they know something I do not and this guy is a fixer. Then I woke up this morning and realised... He most certainly is. ?

  13. I agree that an argument could be put forward that we have somewhat under-achieved over the decades but to say we “have never been in the prem” is very disrespectful to the exploits of our heroes from 1906 to 1911 - they were champions of the championship and runners up in the premier league - and then the more modern day guys like Cheesley, Gow, Ritchie, Garland, Hunter, Royle, Whitehead, Merrick, Sweeney, Gillies, Collier, Rodgers, Mann, Fear, Mabbutt etc etc etc - they had their moments in the spotlight - and they took on and beat Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs etc - I don’t care when it was - it was in the top division in England ... “never in the prem” ? Tut tut, perhaps you should wake up and small the coffee...

  14. Here are some highlights from the Bristol Post piece last July looking forward to the current season for The Gas. They are the gift that keeps on giving - every comment is a gem!: "Gasheads have been steadily more impressed with Rovers' summer business so far, with the new signings, a new training ground and Wael Al Qadi's commitment to the club all building hopes of a positive season ahead. See how Bristol Rovers fans reacted below:" Alfie Rendall: Announce promotion. Charlie: Very good squad being built. James: EIEIEIO up the football league we go. Daniel Sheppard: Going to be boring winning every game this season. ... Real intent this year. Jay Bear Jones: So three signing in three days all quality players, what has happened to rag bag Rovers? Caz: Promotion 2021, scream it at the top of your lungs baby. Kevin Ward: Blimey, Will next season be the one we start going places?

  16. Sincere condolences on your loss. My late Father introduced me to football, and it creates a very special bond, sharing the excitement, disappointment, ups and downs. Glad that you have so many happy memories to look back on and treasure in the future. Holding positive thoughts for Mrs BT. x

  19. Thanks for the hospitality! At least we've finally been put out of our misery - this season seems to have gone on forever. I've suffered every game, and will watch the final 3 - it's what we do, isn't it?

  22. Funnily enough, Tisdale got sacked for saying he couldn’t pull a rabbit out of a hat in regards to making their strikers better. Barton has gone in with the big I am despite achieving nothing as a manager, and tbh nothing as a player as well. The ego on him is unreal. He’s gonna really struggle to get another job off the back of this.
