  1. If we rate him highly we should do a Peterborough. Tell Palace the asking price is £10m. If they stump it up, great. If not, he’s stays with us and potentially increases above that value.

  2. 3-5 million seems very little money for a young player with so much potential. Having to get rid of this type of player before they’d had a chance to shine, just to fund a rebuild frustrates me especially when you look at how much we’ve wasted on our scattergun approach to buying players over the past few years.

  3. For 3 or 5 mil, I wouldn't entertain a sell. He isn't experienced enough to be bothering a Premier League first team, and he is a strong first half of next season to being worth 3 times as much. I'd roll the dice and go again.

  4. I think both clubs are in the right ball-park, he’s in that £3-5m range imho. Few appearance based add-ons and a sell-on and I think you have to take it. I think there are players out there that will suit Nige’s team system better.

  5. Yes please. Goodbye, good luck. Not saying he won't have a career, he's just not what we need right here, right now.

  6. Palace interested apparently. Want him for £3m. We want £5m. Don't shoot the messenger ? And, in anticipation of the "hahaha bite their hands off for £3m" posts, I don't necessarily disagree. However, word of caution: we all said the same regarding one Yannick Bolasie.

  7. For a young player who cost us nothing. And whilst he has potential if we sold him to palace for 4 million I wouldn’t be to disappointed. Especially seeing the next crop of youngsters coming through.

  8. 3M snap their hands off IMO does not have the ability to play anywhere near the premier league let alone the championship.

  9. I rate Semenyo. He's a great athlete - quick, strong, and powerful. He's very direct and dangerous with the ball at his feet. I think he's probably better in front of goal than many would give him credit for (any attacking player would have struggled for goals in our team this season). Given his age and the amount of potential he has, £3m - £5m seems like a pretty low fee. The big problem is that it's hard (for me at least) to know where the market is right now following COVID. What does £5m buy you right now? Is £5m this summer the equivalent of £10m in previous years? Frankly, I have no idea - but that makes it so difficult to get an understanding of what a "good fee" might be

  10. A risk for sure, but Semenyo in the hands of Nigel Pearson, versus Bolasie in the hands of Derek McInnes are very different propositions.

  11. Strange one isn't he? That goal against Millwall in the cup, i thought "wow he has the ability to do that". Plus the 5/6 assists that he got in the first half of the season. I didn't rate him at all, based on the evidence of the 19/20 season. But i thought i would have to reevaluate my thinking around him. However, second half of the season (like everyone else), his overall performances were not of the same standard. His two league goals consist of 2 x chasing down the keeper, and the ball coming off his ass. He's not a natural goalscorer, in the way that Conway and Britton have demonstrated for the under 23s, and first team. In that case, what sort of player is he? In the current climate £4-5m affords us the capability to get 3/4 other players in to help with the rebuild. I have no problem with him going for that figure. But a lot will depend on how we replace him. That will be the indication of whether we've learned from our previous mistakes; and that the new processes/talent id process is working in the way we hope it will.

  13. You've been a member of this forum since 2004 so I look forward to you providing the links to posts where you said Bolasie would be a £25m player after leaving us, playing for one of the biggest clubs in England. Yours, in anticipation...

  14. In reality I doubt that it will go back further simply because too much emotional energy has been spent already. The breaches are clearly large and potentially aggravated, but I can see some mitigating factors as well. I have to say that if I was advising the club I would be seriously looking at a deal with the EFL that resulted in relegation this season, bringing the ground back into the group at the £81 million valuation and wiping the slate clean. Sitting currently with a transfer embargo, a owner who doesn't want to afford the club, a potential significant points penalty next season and therefore relegation anyway, with potential further FFP failure going forwards is the alternative more alluring? 2021/22 is looking really decidedly dodgy already. It appears that the penny really hasn't dropped on the DCFC forum yet. It isn't the failure to comply with accounting standards which will carry the punishment (it sounds pretty minor) it is the impact that the restatement has. No matter how much they complain about it the amortisation will need to be readjusted to a straight line methodology. There really is nothing further to say on that point. Some of the comments on that forum are really quite scary. After all, as I tell myself after every match I go to, including delights in the old Division 4 when we finished a division below some other side and below Mansfield, Torquay and Halifax, it's all a bit of fun ....

  15. Am I the only person still not rating Yannick Bolasie then? I thought Palace got lucky that Everton paniced enough to splurge on him. I suppose if you get on the PL merry-go-round all the numbers start to look silly.

  16. On the flip side to my earlier post of ‘hold out for £10m’, if we did sell for, let’s say £4m, we could rebuild the side in the following manner : Scott Twine - compensation fee from Swindon. Matt Jay - circa £750k from Exeter. Stephen Humphrys - circa £600k-£1m from Rochdale. You’ve then rebuilt your whole front line with 3 players for the price of 1 and still £2m left to plough into the defence or midfield.

  18. How odd...it literally crossed my mind the other day as to who would come calling for Semenyo. Palace screamed at me...he is totally a Palace type player. Semenyo literally is the biggest dilemma I've ever seen as a player for us. He's so unatural it's confusing. He's big, strong, direct for his age, but has the composure of a 17 year old in front of Kylie when in front of goal. Literally watch every pass, shot or control ..tell me it isn't crisp, controlled or composed.....so, so frustrating. Like Harry...I'd be pushing for more.

  19. Have to be honest, I called Bolasie as being better than Albert. And worth more. However, this is partly because a mutual friend of ours was less welcome at Ashton Gate at the time and never got to see him play, so I was being deliberately challenging.

  20. You make a good point about the unknown market. I do expect the lack of fees paid last summer and January to continue outside of the PP clubs. Could fund 5 free transfers on £20k p.w. That will give us an advantage over some clubs we’d be competing with for the players we need to improve us.

  21. Semenyo is a lottery ticket. He is one of the very few players we have that raises the excitement levels when he gets the ball. He is young and might become something special. No one however can know that for sure. Will he deliver that potential or become, well, a bit of a Junior Bent? Given where we are right now, I am not sure we can take that risk. A bigger club can. It all comes down to what can we get for that kind of money in this market. For sure it might be one of those we look back on and regret if he goes. Equally, lots of unpolished diamonds stay exactly that.

  22. 5m in the summer would be worth a hell of a lot considering the lack of income and the market. Yes he could easily be worth double that in 12 months time but then that 10m isn't as useful as the 3-5m would be now. Long story short I am clueless as to what to do.

  23. I find it disappointing that after a season when he has improved so much that their are rumours we might be selling him. How does the team/squad ever improve by continuing to do this.
    2 points
  24. spot on. He's got top level potential but not really top half championship ready. Not only would it get revenue in but it would allow 2 or 3 new signings of the right age and experience at this level.

  25. Same with this one on Facebook.... It’s all 82, Dean Windass, inbreds, obsessed, KFC, Europe and the usual pathetic attempt at taking some sort of moral high ground (standard playing of the innocent victim) when those ***** put up banners at the bottom of the M32, wear Windass shirts around Sainsbury’s, invite Windass as a special guest to their Tote End One Tooth Reunions suck up to him and take him up Chasers. This has really hit a nerve with the fewers and has managed to drag them out from hiding under their stones. Great work ??

  27. Can’t say I’d lose any sleep. Yeh, he was YPOTS, but he didn’t exactly have any competition did he? Lets be realistic, would he have played anywhere near as many games if we’d had a fully fit squad? Not a chance. Cash in. Add the mandatory sell on clause and job done. If we could only keep one, I’d much rather keep Liam Walsh* *although I appreciate this isn’t a real scenario.

  28. He’s too young to run his contract down, as we would get compensation provided we had offered him another, a completely different scenario to Diedhiou.

  29. Whos negotiating this would Ashton still be in this process? It does seem around the right figure and if we can get add-ons and a sell on it would be good business.. It's how we put that money back in the team and now hopefully Pearson can add quality if this happens.

  30. I can see why Palace are interested, as his despite his lack of goals, he’s quick, strong & direct. Only 21 so still plenty of time to improve, however if we can get Palace to raise the price to £4m I’d still sell, unlike Toney, the lad isn’t a goalscorer & let’s face it, for a kid from London the possibility of playing in the Prem for a London team is going to turn his head.

  31. I like the post article claiming this bit of banter has backfired, really? I would say it had exactly the desired effect and resulted in some bitter and twisted gashead, getting his knickers in such a twist that he's now got to buy more paint to finish off his hallway. And they also describe him as brave, 11.23 pm, in the dark, pub closed and about twenty seconds to pull up and pour. Bet he put wet paint footprints into his car as well.

  32. I kinda agree, though it would be nice to keep him for another year to give the youngsters the chance and develop further. Cant see anyway the club will turn down multi million fees this summer for anyone!

  33. Ah, Semenyo... He’s one of those players and at his age, it’s difficult to weigh up because he could be so so good. I wouldn’t like to be in the board room for this one...

  34. With the usual add ons . When a Prem club shows an interest it is nigh on impossible to refuse the player the chance to secure their future. So it looks like we’ve seen the last of AS in a City shirt. I had hoped we would benefit from a Bobby Reid style season from the lad next season.

  37. Would it be possible to make an estimate from figures that have been given and issue a provisional punishment that would be looked at again if they cooperate properly by a given date?

  38. Is there any possibility or precedent, to perhaps suspend their membership until such time as they cooperate? Make plain to them that they will not be allocated any fixtures next season if they don't fall into line and now.

  40. Fair play to Rovers fans sold just over 2000 season tickets. Just under half the size of the Atyeo stand. Faithful and true.

  41. True. I doubt Bristol Academy would have been able to find the funds to develop so in theory having the Bristol Sport backing should have seen a level of investment that could have seen them at least competing in the top half of the table. As it stands, I think someone forgot to remind the family that they actually own the team. With 2 points from the first 10 games and no apparent demand for improvement or signing new players, shunting the team off to Bath to play (not that this really mattered without fans) and the lack of discussion around the team from the club all means it would seem they couldn't really give a.toss what the Ladies team does. It's a wasted opportunity as women's football is steadily growing and it's another chance of getting the shirt seen by the wider community. I thought Bristol Sport was all about maximising the brand.

  42. Really gutted about today, although I feel it's been on the cards since the first game of the season, or even in last season. Felt we played better last week against United than we did today. Had Bristol Academy not become Bristol City, we wouldn't be talking about them on OTIB! However I was informed by another fan that Bristol Academy had a crowdfunder at one point, before being taken over by Bristol City/Sport

  43. The ladies team has been on a downward trend since becoming Bristol City ladies. I’m not saying Bristol Academy wouldn’t have suffered the same fate but it’s difficult to see what benefits being part of the Bristol Sport family has brought.

  45. Mission accomplished for the idiot Barton. Obviously we all hoped they would be in a relegation battle but I suspect in our heart of hearts we expected them to scab their way out of it on goals scored or something. To finish five points adrift at the bottom behind some truly shite teams is beyond our wildest dreams!

  47. The original intangible cost figures in the accounts for new signings in the year won't include any add-ons potentially payable, only the original fee. The figures in Note 20 of the accounts you refer to are not in the intangible cost figures in the accounts presented, they are known costs, but they may not occur in part or in full so are included as 'Contingent Liabilities'. As to the numbers above the following intangible additions are shown in the accounts (in £ millions), these include the fees and levies, and any add-ons paid out in respect of previous year transactions. 2015/16 - 29.96 2016/17 - 21.15 2017/18 - 15.0 These are the figures which will need to be written off through amortisation, subject to any disposals of those players. The difference to your figures appears to be significant, and at fisrt glance probably accounts for the difference that you have with Kieran Magurie.

  48. Based on a quick Google search, Weimann was on the 3rd of July. Based on a couple of our sales (such as Ince) which completed on similar dates, I belive his sale falls into the previous season. It should be Derby vs Extension but figures won't be massively out if you use original instead. I should point out, that I think the figures stated in the accounts include add-ons (I certainly hope so!). Total potential add-ons in 17/18 about £13m. I would therefore assume that our amortisation in following years should be lower than estiamte due to not paying out on promotion bonuses and appearance fees? That may explain why the Hearing Decison Document stated amortisation is £25.1m for 19/20 as we had to calculate a 'worst case scenario' - meaning paying out for promotion? It'll still be above £15m either way
