  1. I was thinking that. They sound like a particularly shit drum'n'bass outfit.

  3. I do like Ibra's arrogance because he does it in a funny way, especially with lots of him comments in press conferences; "Zlatan doesn't do auditions" "You think I'm gay? Come round to my house tonight and see if I'm gay. Bring your sister too" "If anything, the children of Paris should be giving me even more money for having the privilege of being in the same city as my incredible quality. And so should David Beckham. Call it a Zlaritable donation" "Do you know what I love about hunting? That I am no one in the woods, no one at all. I thought the animals might recognize me, but they didn't. They did not even ask me for any autographs."

  7. I read his autobiography a while ago. Love him or hate him he's one hell of a character, should be an interesting watch.

  8. I would imagine that "Aaron C" is not his real name. Probably doesn't want the ridicule or shame of anybody knowing how far he's gone down the footballing pyramid.

  9. I used to enjoy a drink or two with Andy Partridge before Covid, up at our local Spanish Tapas bar here in Old town - he was a regular in there - as I was too! Other musical artists from Swindon include Gilbert O'Sullivan and Justin Hayward (Moody Blues). I think I read somewhere that Supertramp also have a Swindon connection, but I may be wrong.... - Nick Hewer (Countdown) is from here. - The Lord Chancellor is our local MP (not proud of that one!) - The Supermarine Spitfire was built here - The NHS - Swindon was the birthplace of that rather critical service - Mondex - sadly way ahead of it's time - but today we pay for almost everything electronically. - The UK Space Agency HQ is here Yes, but apart from all that what did the Romans ever do for us...............? ?

  10. As I mentioned last week, the same system is in place in Rugby League but the team who finishes top in the regular season does at least get the League Leaders' Shield to recognise their achievement.

  13. I don’t disagree at all. I read somewhere a quote which said the season is just qualification for a knockout cup, a good description I think. Yes everyone knew the rules at the start, etc, etc. But I don’t see why there can’t be League Champions then a playoff for a Champions Cup. One team could do the double of course, but it would be fairer and therefore more just to all involved.

  14. Signing a player from Hartlepool might be inspired. Brian Drysdale had ben playing for Hartlepool and was considering giving up the game as his career was going nowhere. Then out of the blue, City made a bid for him which he and Hartlepool jumped at. BD went on to be a regular fixture at left back and helped us into Div 1.

  18. Fixture lists will have to be coordinated, club had already said academy U18’s and U23’s games would be played on the show pitch, won’t be able to play Saturday, Sunday, Monday/Tuesday on it every other week

  19. Question's finally be answered on where games will be next season. City Women will be playing their games back in a Bristol postcode after a season away in Bath, albeit somewhere where public transport links aren't so great. P.S. Bears women rugby team are also moving to the respective Bears High Performance Centre

  26. You need a scout or manager with a good eye for a player. Jim Brennan was playing in the reserves when Benny Lennartson saw how good he was and stuck him into the first team; then he was sold to Forest for £1.5m. That was "a lot of money in those days". Without Benny spotting his ability that wouldn't have happened.

  28. No, it's always sad when any sports team disappears. I'll settle for them to simply drop further down football's pyramid.

  30. Unfortunately Rovers are part of Bristol Football and always will be, I remember the old days when they played at Eastville and their end then was the tote end. I also recall some derby matches in the 70,s and the interaction and the battels on the pitch and off the pitch. They are a team and club that have always struggled and been second fiddle to the OTIB. And we know amongst us the the club that who is located at BS3 will always be known as the football club associated with the city of Bristol. I know this might seem a bit weird but they are now in League two and those of us old enough that means the old fourth division. they have been there before and dropped down to the Conference around 2013/14 and came good. I was impressed that they have just signed Harvey Soundess and Aaron C. it shows that they are still around and still fighting to maintain quality football in Bristol. They will always exist and we will always take the piss out of them. However not sure how we need to try and show them some resect or not on this forum. After all even though they are blue and dodgy pirates and originally called the black Arabs when they were formed its still good having them around to keep the banter live.

  31. NO ONE does it better than the Gas. They are a constant source of ridicule. Their list of comedy gold is just endless. I still laugh out loud when I think of their promotion bus tour and the thousands of missing fans who stayed at home to cheer them on.

  32. I read that he's only ever scored 1 league goal, 2 in a league cup match at Carlisle and a hat trick against Villa U23s in the tinpot trophy. That sound you can hear is the noise of the bottom of the barrel as it's being scraped.

  34. THE ROBINS FOUNDATION TACKLE LONELINESS FRIDAY, JUNE 18TH 2021 This week people and organisations have come together to raise awareness for loneliness. It's no surprise that this past year has left a lot of people feeling lonely and isolated. As socialising was put on hold, those who had previously relied on attending weekly sessions for their social interactions really struggled. This was very much the case for some of the players of the Bristol City Walking Football team. When Covid-19 first hit back in March 2020 and sessions had to stop Lee Gillett - the Health and Well-being Lead at the Robins Foundation was conscious that some of the elderly players in the walking football team would find it difficult. To tackle this Lee would call to check in on players who lived alone for a chat and to make sure they had everything they needed. Lee would also knock on the player's doors that lived locally to him, for a chat and to drop off sport's equipment so players were able to stay active at home. For many of the players walking football means a lot more than just meeting up with friends and playing football, as for some it is the only social interaction they have. Pre-covid the players would stay after sessions had finished, for a cup of tea and coffee to catch up and check-in with one another. As a team, they would also have quiz nights and organise social events throughout the year. These formed friendships and solid support group has kept many of the players going when they were struggling with their own mental health issues or going through difficult periods of their lives. Lee Gillett said, "Our walking football sessions are much more than just a kick about, we have created a team spirit where we support each other on and off the pitch." To get involved and join the walking football team, feel free to come to the sessions below. Tuesday’s at Imperial Sports Ground South Bristol, BS14 9EA. 10:30am - 11:30am. Cost: £4 (Outdoors) Thursday’s at Imperial Sports Ground South Bristol, BS14 9EA. 10:30am - 11:30am. Cost: £4 (Outdoors) Should you require any additional information on these sessions, please contact the Robins Foundation on 0117 963 0636 or email: lee.gillett@bcfc.co.uk If you or anyone you know feels lonely or struggling please contact Samaritans Call: 116 123 Email: jo@samaritans.org
