  2. There was a Twitter user (BigRobAtkinson) who changed his profile picture and name to Pete O’Rourke and tweeted the Wilson deal was done, as opposed to actual Pete tweeting anything. About as funny as a night out talking football with Ian Gay

  4. Enough is enough. Derby have failed to meet every deadline set. They've consistently taken all for fools . No other struggling club has ever been given such leeway by the EFL. Accounts still not in the public domain. Their expulsion must be confirmed today. Goodbye & good riddance.

  6. I think Tomlin's "snake" comment might be a round about dig at us, in that Matty Taylor was a "snake" when we pulled the Blue Fews pants down (intimating that we've lost out and Crapdiff have done well by picking COD up). Three things from my perspective - 1) I'm glad COD is gone, so don't really care. 2) I reckon COD has pulled their pants down by securing a 3 year deal, and 3) I think Tomlin is a dumbo anyway (to the extent that if he told me it was raining I'd still want to look out the window to check). Move on, we've got bigger fish to fry...?

  7. And rightly so, Kirchner`s just some Johnny-come-lately in all of this, @Mr Popodopoloushas been there from the start and is in it for the long haul!

  9. I noticed that too. I have genuinely been thinking about this over the last few weeks with a view to seeing if I can come up with some sort of proposal to the club for this. My thoughts though were to have it branded as the Banks Junior Reds, or something of that ilk. John and Claire made a real impact on many young fans, myself included, with the original Junior Reds and for me needs to be remembered by the club in some way if they do indeed relaunch it, especially with John's passing. If not in the name of the supporters group then certainly in the name of whatever space may be provided for them to meet in.

  10. Completely agree. Palmer was the ‘process’ overreaching due to prior success and showing the flaws in using it as a guiding principle regards player acquisition. Problem was the flaws compounded while the successes didn’t (ie we had to keep paying a non-contributor who wasn’t increasing in value, while the transfer fees for those we sold were already absorbed), hence the pivot away from the model. I look at the signings we’re making now and while possibly seen by some as underwhelming, they represent to me a more pragmatic approach to team building; get in vets with a bit of experience at this level, and match them with some some promising players looking to step up from leagues one/two and the youth players. For me, that’s the best way of developing a team at this level when you are not in a position to simply spend your way out of it like a recently relegated or bought out side.

  11. Yes, much better to sign somebody from Chelsea for big bucks, that guarantees success. Fans love a good "marquee signing" too. I feel sorry for those poor Leicester fans who had Pearson signing some unknown striker from Fleetwood. What a disaster that was. Sort it out Nige!?

  15. My view is that I think it’s logical to “link” him with Watford due to Edwards, but I’m not convinced it’s a logical move for him, unless Watford’s leopard spots have changed. Does he fancy ousting Femenia or Ngakia for example (assuming they don’t move to Udinese! ?)? It would be a risky move. Not saying City are his most attractive offer either, just not convinced Watford would be the right move for him.

  17. If he does as much for Cardiff as he did for us I think we’d still be left with no regrets about letting him go. That really says it all I think. I’ve always thought there was a player in there, still might be but I just don’t care, it wasn’t going to happen here and that’s been clear for years.

  18. Just on the- and I'm a broken record- accounts bits... Derby County FC- The club Club DCFC- Hospitality related. Derby County Academy- The academy Stadia DCFC- Sponsorship and Broadcasting as per an old Kieran Maguire tweet. Sevco 5112- The consolidator up to and including 2018/19? Gellaw Newco 203- The consolidator from summer 2019? Apologies for the mammoth post but a picture truly speaks a thousand words...how they were allowed to get away with so much for so long is baffling.

  19. Without knocking City I think you're massively overestimating how much people think about our kit. I'd get it if it was a blue shirt but I doubt the football world is in shock at a team that plays in red and white are having a bit more white on their shirt than last year.

  22. Hardly the same! Tomlin was outstanding in his loan spell & we rightly pulled out all the stops to get him here permanently - OK, it didn't work out, longer term, but his signing was very exciting, after his loan spell success. Palmer, on the other hand, did virtually nothing during his loan spell and has been consistent in that level of apathy since (apart from 1 Cup game against Northampton!) A questionable signing, based on an unremarkable loan spell, that has been a complete waste of time & money.

  25. It's a shame because I think Szmodics would actually suit the system we now play. Lots of movement, he could have been a good alternative to Weimann/Semenyo with his pace. Or would have been a very good option to have from the bench, also feel the same about Matty Taylor, we spent however much on Wells, when Taylor could have played that role for much cheaper.

  26. The other difference between Dasilva & Palmer was this; Dasilva had won the player of the season award at Charlton in his previous loan & whilst he wasn’t outstanding in his spell with us, you could see that as he was only 20, there was still plenty of time for him to improve. £2m was also a very reasonable fee at that time. As has been mentioned before, even without taking into account that we already had Paterson (a better version of the same player) & Szmodics who we had just bought (& I agree, who never got a chance), Palmer did virtually nothing in his loan spell, to go with mediocre previous ones at Blackburn & Derby, so how we thought that justified spending £3.5m I have absolutely no idea. An ego signing by Ashton & LJ, which we are still paying for.

  27. So for the 68th (me either) anniversary of once wearing white sleeves in 1954 we're going to pretend we're Arsenal (or Rotherham). Absolutely embarrassing attempt to use a bit of history for yet more gimmicks on the kit front. Bristol City may not have the biggest identity in football but couldn't we at least protect what we have. All red shirts, white shorts - after Man Utd at least fairly distinctive in the top two divisions. For once just keep it simple and classy, rather than appearing to have no identity at all by messing about so much. Other clubs will take the piss out of us and rightly so, why are Bristol City wearing Arsenal or Rotherham's kit? Also, from memory the last time we messed about this much with the home strip - putting a black hoop around about a third of the normally all red home shirt, we got relegated from the Championship. Rant over. BTW feel a bit sorry for Hummel who produce really good gear, but no doubt are working under instruction from team Comic Sans.

  30. Am I the only who's feeling mildly sad at this, he came to us with an exciting air around him, and has shown sparks of excellence. However, through injuries and positional problems, he's never reached close to the potential I've longed for him to acheive. By all means the right choice for us to let him go, but leaves me with a 'what could have been' feeling.

  32. Bristol City have an identity. If individuals were asked, say fans of other clubs what characterizes BCFC in regards to it kit its red shirt, white shorts .. The identity there changes when the shirt is red shirt white arms. Joe public any football fan will feel that identity is associated to other clubs, and in particular the big proper one in North London. You stated each to their own. Identity is very important to many fans, we identify as football fans, the club kit, traditions and culture are part of identity. This Arsenal identity identifies the small-time nature of BCFC. The club kit, traditions and culture are of no interest to the likes of those behind that design. The kit is for marketing gimmicks, make sure its red and that is it.

  33. The share matters are dealt with under the Articles of Association of Football League Limited (The) available on the Companies House website (search for company number 00080612). My understanding is that Derby have, because of the default under Article 4.7.4, already been served Notice under Article 4.8, with the notice being suspended under that Article. It takes 14 days to activate the removal of the share and therefore expulsion from the league.

  34. Yes, if I remember it correctly, Palmer actually went on tour to Germany with Chelsea, as Lampard hadn’t made his mind up on him. Once the tour ended, things started moving towards him coming to City. COYR

  35. A report from the Watford Observer says that Wilson is one player that newly appointed boss Rob Edwards would like to work with again if he were to consider signing players from his former club. So If i've got it right, the Watford Observer is saying "If" he was interested in working with any of his old FGR players again, then Edwards would consider Wilson. Kind of a non story isn't it? "If" Pearson was interested in signing players from his old club Leicester. Then one of the players he used to work with, and no doubt be interested in signing is Jamie Vardy, or possibly Kasper Schmeichel. Doesn't really mean anything as an article does it?

  36. Regulation 11.2.3 currently applies as stated by @Monkeh 11.2 Cessation of membership. Following any Club’s cessation of membership of The League for any reason ... 11.2.3 during the period between the conclusion of the last Play-Off Match and the start of the following Season: (a) its playing record for the immediately preceding Season shall not be expunged; (b) the Division in which it would have played in the next following Season shall operate with a reduced number of Clubs; and (c) the number of relegation places from the Division in which the Club would have played in the following Season but for its cessation of membership shall be reduced by: (i) the number of Clubs that have ceased to be members in that Division, and (ii) the number of Clubs ceasing to be members in any higher Division (if any); and (d) the principles of Regulation 11.2.2(b) shall apply in each of the Divisions below that Division. Whether there is time to make any other changes will depend upon lots of people agreeing.

  37. Which one? Only consistent thing about deadlines is Derby have missed every single one. It's begining to get easier to spot those EFL regulations Derby haven't breached. PoF were reporting a few weeks back that post the second extension of CK's exclusivity deadline his consortium had to have everything in place by 31/5. Note there are dozens of other mandatory notifications that must be made either by the end of last season or by end of March (save for those exiting or entering the EFL via promotion/relegation.) Stuff like insurances and ability to fulfill fixtures. Slightly later the retained lists and squads must be notified. EFL have fudged the whole thing which is why Derby must be expelled. Lest not forget EFL may seek compensation for impairment arising as a result of a club not fulfilling fixtures if they haven't resigned by the previous start of the year. Would they seek to add that to the secured debt mountain should Derby seek to start elsewhere? Nobody's even mentioning HMRC's position and who's picking up that £20m+? Note also they have to have settled 25% of non secured debt prior to exiting administration, rose have a payment schedule to clear 35% within 36 months. That assumes all secured debt is repaid or cancelled. This isn't going to happen and worse, never was.

  39. The blackout stuff is really nice and something I've been calling for for a few years now... although on the t-shirt I'd have preferred the big logo be on the back with a small robin on the breast pocket space. The pricing of any of it though is difficult to justify. £50 for some joggers and £65 for a hoodie. Fortunately the blackout stuff will never go out of date or out of style and it could be sold for years on-end, but it's still a fair chunk of cash. ... very surprised because I have no children.

  40. Very fond memories of my junior reds days & away trips. It was brilliant to get a coach, reciprocal match tickets with other groups and play our own match before going to the games - all for about a tenner! Will always remember being on the pitch at Newcastle, for KK's first game as manager there. John, Claire & others involved did a great job & I think that similar would be brilliant for the upcoming generation of supporters.

  41. So how much do we think Kirchner is pocketing for being Ashley's stalking horse?

  42. My view is that he’s not quite good enough for this level. I think he has some deficiencies in his game, mainly his lack of mobility / pace / physicality without the ball that makes him sub-par without the ball…and makes it difficult for him to get on the ball / receive passes where he can use his good technical skills. Youd have thought Swansea would’ve been ideal for him under Martin, with their heavy possession style, but it hasn’t worked out so far. It might yet do.

  43. Players do come and go, however do remember that they are no different than you or I and have feelings etc. Callum was amazing when he met my son, giving him so much time and encouraging him to pursue a dream of playing football. Last week was mental health week, and mayn don't know some of the injuries that Callum has faced as he is quite a private person. Many may say he should/could have delivered more, but I will say this - from what I saw, he gave his all and both he, and his family cared deeply about this club. He also did a lot in the community that was unnoticed and unreported, and represented Bristol City as a professional at all times. Good luck Callum and I for one hope you go on to achieve more in your career.
