I thought he was supposed to be working for us in America but instead schmoozing the yanks and feathering his own nest ?

Yeah he told the Lansdown’s what they wanted to hear about his American venture, whilst working on his own thing. He never wanted Holden so probably thought “**** it” from there, can’t knock him for it, should always look out for yourself, the Lansdown’s were just too dumb to see it for what it was.

Yes, I woke up to Swiss Tony on the Today programme- cracking start to a Bank Holiday. He also used phrases like “when we came in 2 1/2 - 3 years ago”- as if he was somehow synonymous with the new American owners. I think it was this kind of grandstanding that ultimately p. off SL , and while the consortium will undoubtedly think they picked the right man now, if and when this goes south- and it will- I predict Ipswich fans will be on here conceding that we did warn them.

Wow……if that is your take from what he has done at Ipswich then thats mental. You seriously think Ipswich fans will be on here saying that we warned them despite back to back promotions to the Prem?

Lansdown never got pissed off with him by the way, he chose to leave.

I hazard a guess that you are very much in the pro-Lansdown boat.

Far too easy to excuse Ashton from the blame based on what he did at Ipswich.  He was in the thick of it here aided on both sides, up and down the hierarchy.

Let’s not overplay what he’s done at Ipswich.  He may have identified a diamond in McKenna, but it’s McKenna who has delivered.  He didn’t do well with Cook did he?

He is a leopard whose spots won’t change, but cage him correctly and he’s a good football businessman for your club.  If Ipswich hadn’t done that, he’d have run amok with their finances.

The same Paul Cook that is with Chesterfield in non-league? Granted, i know they just got promoted, but lets not pretend he is a good manager - probably could of had Man City’s CEO and he still would of been crap.

Give Ashton his credit. You say not “overplay”  what he’s done at Ipswich, yet he single handedly delivered (McKenna) the reason that they have had back to back promotions - Ashton deserves all the credit possible in the role he is doing in my opinion

Fair points although the pedant in me points out that the rules were different then but there were no points deductions for breaches so could've gone either way.

The Rule changes seem to catch us at bad times..it was 1 year £13m loss plus Allowables but the following season snapped into 3 Year Losses.

No that’s true and you are right about Ipswich’s situation compared to our’s……it’s just bloody infuritating seeing another club get ahead, particularly when it’s our former CEO who we all ridiculed and even warned the Ipswich fans about!

On Ipswich I don't want to go on but they inherited and handed over a good financial position post Evans

Nothing like for us, nothing like whatsoever. We nearly were ruined (in FFP terms). Their injury record? Abnormally good considering some of the player ages etc.

We could of done exactly the same the season we came up with Cotterill FFP wise, but the board thought better of it. Fair play to Ipswich.

  6. “bE caRfUL wHAt You WiSH fOr” 🤪🤪🤪…….yeh, i wish for a competent owner or chairman that could of worked properly with Ashton and enjoyed the success he obviously could bring if kept in check…..not some tax dodging exile and a bloke who puts crayons in his sandwich……Thank **** it’s over for a few months.

It’s laughable that Sky have chosen to televise Leeds over Ipswich. If roles were reversed they would have televised………Leeds.

    They are showing both

Looks like sky have snubbed the ipswich game to show leeds v saints and brum v Norwich instead !

It's on sky sports main event, no chance they were going to snub it. They usually show 3 games on the last day of the season if there is multiple teams in the promotion/relegation race.

Rashford has surely played himself out of the Euros, been rotten all season.

Not a chance, he fed kids so Southgate the politician will take him. Be hilarious once he takes over United in the summer after getting us knocked out in the quarters at the Euros.

Those Ineos lot are going to be a bunch of blaggers, will be funny to watch United fans cry even more with their shitty Norwich scarves in 6 months.

  10. Not saying it stands in this case, but did always think that VAR was a potential way for corruption to creep in to the game if a wrong un gets involved. Astonished that Forest didn’t get at the very least 1 penalty.

The bloke is mentally ill surely it’s been flagged and he’s been reported?

Probably get shit for saying this…..but if he is mentally ill, i hope he doesn’t get the help he needs. The world certainly wouldn’t miss scum like him. Some of the stuff he is saying on twitter today is vile.

Without the Lansdowns we’d probably be in league 1 playing in a ramshackle Ashton Gate.

Or we could be where Brighton are?

Simply put, we have no idea where we would be, but the Lansdown’s have certainly outstayed their welcome & fresh ideas/investment is needed.

  13. I actually think we have looked decent, just 2 awful mistakes at the back.

I’m no fan of Southgate by any stretch (& i do feel he is the main reason this team won’t reach their potential, it’s still painful to look at the stats from the Italy final) but he can’t be blamed for anything tonight so far!

It doesn't but my opinion isn't based on just this game..

A lot of overhyped players who aren't as good as our media have you believe

I think our fully fit starting 11 is absolutely good enough, don’t think they are overhyped at all…….however underneath that 11 i would agree there are very overhyped players, Joe Gomez being a big one. Not a chance he is in that squad again if he wasn’t at Liverpool. I’m not fancying Watkins at the top level either.

I was led to believe Ashton proposed Warnock who wanted the job. Nige too….if only.

Earlier in the season i was watching Ipswich against i can’t remember who now on sky, might of been Norwich, but the commentator made a point of talking about how Ashton had been tracking Mckenna as far back as his time at City and wanted to appoint him but the club chose a different path……that could only of been Holden (& from what i remember, Ashton didn’t look particularly happy at that odd covid outdoor press conference to confirm Holden!)

Could of course just been a bit of gametime filler from the commentator, but interesting if true.

Dont know what kind of world you live in; poor win ratio, leaves the club after 30 months without the ability to score goals, during his best season with W-S-M up front (none of whom he recruited) he coached us to concede 77 goals - that is seventy seven.

Fans might sing; "you stole a wage, you stole a wage"

I have always thought that being an Everton fan must be incredibly dull.

Absolutely, biggest “nothing” club going in my opinion…..their fans are a bunch of dullards as well, they seem to think they are massive with a great fanbase just because they are from Liverpool.

  18. Both……but if i had to pick one then it’s Tinnion. The bloke is a cancer to our football club & will remain one until he is removed.

Even if we were to sack Manning, Tinnion would only appoint another bloke with no pedigree. A very insecure man is what he is, the whole Liverpool bollocks the other month was proof to that.

  19. The bloke is a complete & utter goon, couldn't care less about him being a decent league 1 player.

Also, on the basis of him being a "legend" (mostly because of that goal) & how many appearances he made........surely Korey Smith had much more of an impact on the club in a much shorter spell? Scored a match winning goal against Man United that got us to a semi-final & was part of a double-winning City side, when are we welcoming him back with a big banner across section 82?
