No car crashes this time. However I counted seven Southamptons!

Biggest news is that Twine fit, Tanner maybe but Naismith out and from the sounds of it for the season.

Southampton, are becoming the equivalent of that you pulled who was waaaaaaaay out if your League.

The one who if you stop talking about, maybe it didn't happen.

It was an absolute nonsense question. I think @TomSutton touched on it. It would be almost impossible to have champions level home form playing that badly. He also didn’t mention the away form. If you play that badly away, you’re more likely to lose more.

It also ridiculous to think playing that badly was some sort of clever game plan we executed perfectly to grind out a result.

Whatever the game plan was, we failed, we were awful, we were lucky to win.

It's not so much that the game plan was to play badly

But it absolutely was to contain.

Regardless of performance level, if your game plan at home to swansea is to do that, well v this Swansea trying to be the most boring game was the best we could hope for

They were going to score, or 00 at HT.

Playing badly no, but contain was absolutely the plan

    ...

I genuinely think at HT , LM was of the opinion job done, they'll run out of ideas.

However , it was awful to watch, and worked because swansea had no end product, that's it

But these two have been very poor this season , I’m not defending manning one bit , but TC wants out personally I still think he has much more to learn before he kicks on , pring looks a shadow of last season , surely some responsibility has to lie at the door of the players aswell , not everything is mannings fault ( though quite a lot is )

TC wants out because be never sees the ball., he never gets chances .. if he wanted to just run chasing something else, he'd appear on gladiator. He spent all his football life doing things to get to this stage, and now being told he's doing it all wrong and has to change (some pathway), by a manager who is learning on the job no less, and one who has a philosophy that plays to his weaknesses not his strengths

LM has bought the worst out of TC, he'll leave and he'll score goals. I have never been fully convinced by TC yet, i mean his career is all ahead of him, but i do not blame him for wanting to leave.

Also what a nice big round number to land on. Not totally plucked out of thin air in the moment at all.

Seems like all the interview has done has create a clear ‘us and them’ mentality between board and fans.

I think it's a bit more intelligent than you are giving credit.

At 10 points more= 1 point off playoffs.

Any higher he'd be saying playoffs this time next year, and be held to that.

    Now absolute wiggle room.

Weird that he said that the HPC looked at the next run of games after Southampton and Boro and said they were rubbing their hands together (you could hear him actually doing it whilst he was saying it). How ******* unprofessional is that. You shouldn’t be treating ANY game like that,  never mind a run of them.  Pathetic. No wonder we’re not where we want to be.

    Really? Wow

  6. 20 mins of awful football.

Not aggressive enough in defence.. like where is the intensity in the press?

As for attacking? Remember post qpr away? Worked on defence that week... Well this is that.

An average Swansea side, at home. And the best we've come up with to start the game is contain.. ******* contain. Honestly. This is not city, this is not us. Never has been, never will be.

** Yes, a football match can be a long game, I'd could just end 3-2. But the first 20 mins is where you stamp your intentions.

  7. And done! More than decent podcast today.

@Davefevs bringing up that the Ipswich manager had stated we played exactly how he expected, challenging someone else's view was a good moment.

I felt everyone contributed very well this week, and all make some excellent points to be digested.

However, the argument we shouldn't change manager, as the same guys who did this one would make the next decision; that can't be real? Has to be a wind up??  There are just so many flaws with that argument, like every club, every manager gone wrong ever ever ever.

    .....

Finally, wanting city to win every game...... There a stark reality incoming.

    Option A.

Win enough games, manning stays.... Change the majority of the squad, spend a lot of money with absolutely no guarantees of success next season. He could then still lose his job, and then what? Another rebuild?

    Option b

lose most games, do just enough to stay up. But change in summer.

I don't think I could ever be in a spot where i want us to start losing, but there is a real discussion to be had if that's actually what would be best for the club

  8. What a two seasons it was though, an incredible ride. Falling one game short.

The first side is like your first love.... It devastates you because players leave. My was Leaning, newman, taylor , bent.....

Well 2006-2008 was basically the equivalent of a football wife. They took me on emotions i hadn't yet discovered. It was one hell of a connection with that side.

  9. In a way manning is stuck in a vortex atm.

Play half decent = he's unlikely to get credit because most of that comes from an idea implemented pre him. No matter what he does there he isn't getting credit

All the worst stuff, such as winning it in midfield but declining the option to counter multiple times, literally turning back to give it to a defender behind their attackers. Inviting their attackers to press then giving it away. All in the name of fake control, that's on him!!

Is that fair? Probably not, but it's still a reality he's going to find difficult to overcome.

    ..........

Truthfully, those loses happen, can't win every game. It was a half decent performance. At times, we got the city we know is in there, but it's nothing to do with his footprint, or his ideological style.

Ipswich basically showed us how it's done.

    all options on the table!
short, long, ground, air, to feet, in behind. They had all options at all times. And as soon as burns came on they simply added that weapon.

It was a relentless pursuit of goals. both games v us; they had always felt there to be had, but that is because they are really going for it

I don't think they've been that good in this game ,but it is that purpose that drove them to win the game.

    .....

Tonight showed we play our best when a team believes their best beats ours. According, swansea is probably huge. It's on him to show he's evolved and learning.

Is that fair? Probably not but that's the reality he is facing! Patience is going to be thin; he simply has to read the room and know patient fake control football is going to turn the crowd very quickly.

Which takes me back to the top of my post, in a way he can't win.
