  1. I would be quite forgiving to the past bad decisions if they were more present however they are now running the club at arms length and have decided to turn on the person who was there day to day (illnesses aside) trying to develop a successful working environment. Considering the ambitious expectations they set for Pearson I would have hoped that the Lansdown's would set higher standards for themselves, however there is not much room for them to be challenged and the piss poor communications full of contradictions and obvious lies are now deemed acceptable too. Their credibility is rightly at an all time low but if the new coach does well (unlikely I think) then it will give them an undeserved boost.
  2. The part where he said something like 'speak to someone above me for once if you can find anyone' might have cost him his job but I worry that with the current leaders left that the hard work on improving the clubs culture and identity will ultimately be for nothing long term.
  3. Whilst what you say is really unappealing, I am inclined to agree that it's the best option currently on the table. Fleming for a few games as things blow over would be fine by me. But if it's true that the board have already been making moves then it might make them look more incompetent if it now becomes a drawn out process and some of the options start going to other clubs.
  4. I know I shouldn't compare us to the gas but I was thinking of the scenario when Ben Garner replaced the Irish bloke who is now the Newport manager. Coming into the club mid season and looking to make big changes to style (plus an unhappy fanbase) is going to be extremely difficult and an uphill battle. If things do wrong then I hope the frustrations are pointed to the right people, I don't want to start biting the hand that pays the cheques but when they oversee a year or so of board room chaos and being largely absent from spotlight but also talk promotion then they need a reality check.
  5. If the next manager starts with a few losses like Rooney has then I agree things will probably get quite toxic, it's a bit harsh because their owners should be taking the blame and not Rooney. However it's going to be extremely tough for most fans to not compare the new man to Pearson and make a quick judgment if things are looking worse. Completely the wrong environment for a young progressive coach if it's true that is who the Lansdown's want.
  6. Very disappointed with this move as I hoped Nige would remain manager for a few more years. Thought there was a big overreaction from posters about the tension behind the scenes but clearly I was wrong. I was too hopeful that Lansdown didn't need his ego stroked and could see that Pearson was making us a more professional outfit and would overlook Nige being a difficult character at times. Looks like Lansdown doesn't want to be challenged and wants to bring a yes man in which is not necessarily what's best for the club but it suits him.

    Mehmeti

From what I saw at the beginning of the season he looked off it and his crossing was not that accurate to put it mildly. In fact pushing Roberts further up looked a better option at the time. I would hope Mehmeti has been working hard and would like to see him get some minutes but also I could understand why Nige might choose not to play him if he hasn't been seeing the improvements day to day, the fact that Yeboah who hasn't always played great is the preferred option tells it all. Rooting for Mehmeti to come back strong at some point, hoping he has the character to keep fighting for his place despite the current setbacks.
  8. Terrible news for Fergie but I can imagine the Leeds fans might have some things to say about this today.
  9. Turkey have withdrawn because they are going to bid to be co-hosts in 2032 with Italy. I don't mind joint bids like 2008 for instance but when the countries are far apart like those 2 then it gets a bit much.
  10. I think once the novelty wears off the prem might not be so enjoyable. Have spoken to fans of clubs like Swansea who have done what we would like and they are quite happy being back in this league as the days out are more enjoyable when there is a more realistic chance of getting a win. However lets be honest it's a bit embarrassing that the club hasn't been in the top flight for so long, so yes of course the aim is getting into the prem one day and hopefully we can become an established PL side and get much more than the 9 seasons in the top division that the club has had in its entire history. Actually getting there when you don't have parachute money or massive crowds will require patience and a bit of luck so I agree with SL in that respect, as far as I'm aware he isn't expecting the club to be profit making, and obviously that isn't realistic in the championship where the have nots like us have owners who bail out the clubs most seasons to the tune of at least 15 million.
  11. For them to be the first EFL team not to score in opening 9 games is pretty amazing. Not an easy job to go into that's for sure, can't help think that it is unwise for him to go into that situation but I would like to see Cheltenham stay up if possible. Tuesday night they play Fleetwood at home who are only on 2pts themselves so it is going to be big for whoever wins that (probably will be a 0-0).
  12. Looks decent enough to me, no silly robin and the CITY logos are subtle enough that they work. Like the collar and the sleeves. Seems a bit random to go for grey on the badge and sponsor on top of the purple and green but for me this is best shirt of the season.
  13. Personally thought the previous black/purple/green away shirt was one of the best designs we had over the years. Will be interesting to see if the tide of constant criticism can be changed at 5pm. ?
  14. I always thought FM would be an unsuitable location but if there is one thing that was sort of impressive it was how they managed to spin out their bullshit for as long as they did. I wonder if its possible to rebuild on the mem using temporary stands if done in stages they could possibly move the pitch slightly along the way and open up more space? Since they forgot about planning permission it might be slightly ambitious to expect them to think that far ahead.
  15. https://www.footyheadlines.com/2021/06/bristol-city-21-22-away-kit.html The Hummel Bristol City 21-22 away jersey brings a novel look for the club - predominantly black, the logos are placed centrally and the lower part of the front features a colorful graphic that draws inspiration from the houses in Totterdown. Not saying the shirt actually looked like the houses but that was the marketing statement at the time. ?
  16. Were they booed off the Preston game because of the performance or was it for the referee? Genuine question I wasn't entirely sure...
  17. Think we had a black away shirt 2 years ago where it was supposedly inspired by all the different coloured houses in Bristol so we have done this sort of thing before. Personally I think a lot of this is marketing waffle and the only thing people care about is if it looks good (and doesn't have stupid logos). I like the Arsenal shirt which is based on the 80's green kit (although our home and third kits are both retro designs too), their other kit the one I believe is to do with Islington is pretty vile.
  18. A lot will depend for Nige on how the next few months go but at the moment I hope he extends and stays a couple more years even if there is more mid table football this year. The strategy they have adopted I support and want to see it embedded more, ideally with the same manager to oversee it as one worry is that the next person won't and it falls away. Really not buying this narrative that Lansdown has it in for NP and is reluctant to renew the contract due to his strong personality. Also not convinced that spending big in the last 2 weeks of the window now that Scott has been sold is a smart idea that will shoot them up the table and possibly to the prem. I am quite happy to moan about Nige for certain things such as team selection after a loss but I still back him as the right manager for City who is working with the bigger picture in mind.
  19. Before they made the decision I was thinking someone like Roma as Mourinho gave him his debut or possibly a loan move to Ajax since Ten Haag is from there and its not too far to travel. I doubt he will have to go as far as Saudi as people who aren't English won't be as invested (I know the images speak for themselves but there won't be the weekly circus in europe at all the matches like it would have been here). Wouldn't be surprised at all if its a club in the champions league or europa looking for a good deal.
  20. Will the baggies even sell more than 2-2.5k since its their 3rd visit in 9 months? Would be quite impressed if they do.
  21. Was worried as soon as I saw the front 3 with Wells dropped, it reminded me of Swansea away last season and unfortunately played out the same score. Although I was quite pleased with performance to begin with until that Birmingham no 6 went down injured and we lost momentum. Then really disappointed with that 2nd half and no shots on target throughout. Poor performance but not panicking just yet.
  22. I sorted mine out recently, believe I only paid £70 more than last year. I always call them up and say I can get a better deal from whoever from price comparison and they knock the price down a bit (although only by like £20 this time), I also learnt a few years ago that the cheapest time to renew is 3 weeks before so have done that since, wonder if all that comes up when they decide what to quote because I paid like 20% more which whilst not great sounds like it could be worse.
  23. If they are going to down the road of having a responsibility to him then it's going to be difficult bringing him back in when he is going to be public enemy to all opposition fans and probably some players too. Maybe the player and manager think its best staying nearby but overall to me it seems too controversial and I think the directors might overrule it, somewhere abroad for a season wouldn't have quite the same pressure. As for your question I think it's been said already but I understand that the club could quite easily terminate his contract even with no conviction in this case, they would have already done it though I think if that's what they wanted.
  24. I would guess that Man U are such a prized club to be associated with that the sponsors will stay quiet on this occasion (could be wrong though because backlash from elsewhere will absolutely massive). I would still be surprised if he plays at all for Man U this season due to the feelings people have towards him, loaning him out abroad is the easy way out and can see that being more likely. Not defending Greenwood but the legal system in Scotland has been changed recently so under 25's are to be 'rehabilitated' and there was a case where someone attacked and raped a 13 year old and was spared jail, if that's going on in this country (Scotland anyway) then I have more problem with that than with Greenwood when he hasn't been found guilty and there is apparently more evidence that the police are aware of but the public aren't.
  25. I think these days he talks about the club with more detachment and coldness, not sure this is even a bad thing though if the club is ran on a sound business plan rather than one man's ego to get praise through football success. If we were slashing the budget compared to other championship clubs or something then I could understand criticism however the beating he is taking here is a massive overreaction in my view. Talking about biding time when competing with parachute clubs may not be what we want to hear but its true and the throwaway comment he made about Luton has been completely misinterpreted I think. I doubt NP would have batted an eyelid at any of what was said because its pretty much more of the same.
