  1. DaveFevs joined Ian Mark and DaveP in discussing the match action and thoughts on off the pitch matters. A spirited performance but defeat against a newly promoted Ipswich who, on current form, look like they’ll sail past City into the promised land! Max O’Leary appears to be the villain of the piece for failing to deal with Broadhead’s well struck shot that was the difference between the sides. Fans should cut him some slack in my opinion with his acrobatic save just before the goal and another one-handed stop from Davis at the start of the second half which kept City in the game. Cornick was unlucky to see his late effort strike the post, goalkeeper’s bank than spin along the line in similar fashion to that effort from Alan Walsh in 1989 League Cup semi before being cleared. Fevs very much the stat man points out that City’s Xg was marginally better than Ipswich whilst Ian quotes from Wyscout that we played more forward passes and had more crosses than the visitors but fewer touches in the box.
  2. No problem facing criticism it's just some are relentless to the extent of being waring. Must be doing a decent job on FBC as our stats (visible on Podbean unlike some) have shown a 80% increase in audience since last year. Btw, the speedboat comment was Chris' and I quite like it as I think it apt too often. Watch the arm pointing too and wasting of energy chasing balls he's no hope of reaching. In fairness, Andi is due a goal and I can see him getting a brace tomorrow!
  3. My opinion is mirrored by Chris Honor, a fellow pro who you'll say is ******* clueless too then? His ratio is one in 4 which is OK for a championship striker but no more than that. Reading your post I was reminded of that Steve Coogan song, "everyone has to be a **** sometimes" although in your case it's all the time!!! Don't read my posts or listen to the podcast. It can't be good for your health us living rent free in your head.
  4. Nathan wouldn't go down well and similar for Rowett. Eustace would be a decent shout. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 meaning definitely, do you think he'll still be here when the next window opens?
  5. Yes, written off. It would be an agreement on new terms better than what's on the table as it stands and not grounds for constructive dismissal. Personally I think his health condition may come into play in some way, i.e. have the op and take an extensive period to recover and ultimately a soft runway to departure with a small payoff in the summer. Audition for Jason Youell to make a play for it permanently - a typical Lansdown appointment.
  6. He suggested dropping him the other week as he appeared in need of a rest. Yesterday was one of his better games for the club.
  7. Thank you. This weekend's episode is now available to download from on Spotify etc. etc. or just click here: https://foreverbristolcity.podbean.com/e/coventryh-the-verdict-victory-overshadowed-by-nige-s-i-m-irritated-post-match-comment/
  8. Based on our record with injuries that'll be after the next international break then - 25 November
  9. This is a live stream event at 09.00 and will be available from midday on Spotify, Apple & other podcast platforms:
  10. "Best manager this club has ever had" is quite an overstatement. He HAS cleared up the mess left by the Lansdown indulged Lee Johnson & Mark Ashton and maintained Championship status but from an achievement perspective he's behind Dicks, Jordan and GJ in my book.
  11. I agree it is not generous but Nige strikes me as the sort of guy who would say enough is enough regardless of any contract length. I think he is at a stage of his life when football isn't his be all and end all.
  12. I don't disagree but it takes the "pressure" off the Lansdown's in the present. It is only asking them to commit to an extra 6 months on his present deal if they worried about a big payout to someone who calls them out on their failings.
  13. Take it you won't be watching or listening then? For a number of weeks I've been calling for Nige to be given a rolling 12 month contract from now so give it a rest.
  14. FBC Podcast Live Stream Recording at 9.00 AM Sunday Support for Pearson is growing within the fanbase but would sentiment have been different had we lost convincingly which on another day we could have done. With a quarter of the season gone we're well and truly in the play off mix but then at least another 12 clubs would say the same with Leicester & Ipswich already building daylight between themselves and the chasing pack. DaveP, Ian Gay, Neil Sutton & Mark Tovey will assess the impact of Nige's post match comments This is a link to the live stream
  15. Mine too. Cultured comes to mind when you compare him to his cohorts Gordon Parr and Jack Connor
  16. Maybe there is a word missing from that sentence which perhaps should read "....have a REAL go at promotion". I think the view of some is that amongst the many there is a degree of contentedness about plodding on as a mid-ranking Championship side. I would suggest based on recent events that is the measure of SL's ambition at this time @DaveFevs - thanks for starting this thread I'm not a fan of acronyms but if I do post a link to an episode of Forever Bristol City Podcast on here I would preface it FBC Podcast!
  17. No we don't, but to counter that what about the "owners" of Luton, Brentford & Brighton. There is a risk aversion, allied to the wasteful of the MA/LJ period which suggests we'll only make it to the Prem if we're lucky. We put the view on FBC Pod Episode today that this be grateful for what we have and where we are is perhaps the view held by the majority of the fanbase. Listen here from about 30 mins in once we'd covered the game: https://foreverbristolcity.podbean.com/e/stoke-city-h-the-verdict-we-were-mugged-or-just-paying-the-price-for-sloppy-defending/
  18. I thought he was very measured in his responses.
  19. You're assuming the interview process was our usual "vigorous & rigorous" approach. How many people were seen or was it simply, as rumour has it, SL sought Richard Scudamore's advice and went with PA whose track record, on paper, is exemplary - if he could survive Ron Noades & Simon Jordan, I would say SL is a puppy in comparison!
  20. Couldn't agree more [that's a first ?] and in my line of work that is often the reason why people leave after a short tenure following an otherwise stable employment record It could well explain PA's low profile since he's been here, i.e. realising within a matter of weeks that this was a not an "as sold" opportunity but going with the flow for a few months to preserve personal dignity.
