  1. Now you're talking! With, not instead of, makes sense and as someone else said on this thread that allows Mehmeti [our Maverick] to play in the No.10 role.
  2. I didn't express myself in the way I had intended - I don't know Joe but from what I read he is smarter than the average footballer. He may have the brain power to be an accountant or [like his dad] a surgeon and neither of those jobs pay the [alleged] £40k per week he has earned over the past 5 years.
  3. I'm inclined to agree with you on "application". Always on it for the big games (Rovers/Man Utd. for us, Ch'ship play off final for Fulham) but seemed to coast on too many occasions. Bright lad, think he's in football for the money rather than have a passion for the game.
  4. Definite starter on Saturday for you then Graham?
  5. All episodes available here: www.foreverbristolcity.podbean.com . Full post match analysis & general debate plus interviews with former managers & players [easy sech facility], i.e. Dicks, Wilson, Royle.
  6. Thank you for encouraging more listeners. 1000 people per week listen to me, Ian & others spouting our *hit!?
  7. Danny Wilson took unfashionable Barnsley to the top flight. You check his record and it was year on year improvement.
  8. Over a season would see us finish c9th/10th.
  9. There's no denying Nigel had an unholy mess to clear up after the damage done through the profligacy of an off the leash Mark Ashton [and you have to blame SL for that] who was working with two, let's be honest, lightweight managers. Here we are now with the decks cleared of financial mayhem with cash already in the bank from the sale of Semenyo and the coffers likely to be boosted massively by the sale of Scott putting us in a position of financial strength bettered only by those clubs receiving parachute payments. On the field this season there has been progress and were it not for the autumn collapse after a stunning opening 8 games followed by a dip in the wake of the highly creditable performance against Man City I believe we would certainly be in contention for a play off place now. Nigel has one year left on his contract yet in the summer his actions in the transfer market, working alongside Brian Tinnion, are going to determine the on the field shape of the team for the next three years. For me it would make sense to give him another year now perhaps with a two way exercisable option for a second. Manager at Bristol City is probably one of the safest jobs in football and, while some may disagree, if you are a player contemplating a move here in the summer and you know you are one of the current manager's top picks I think you're more likely to sign knowing he's here for at least 2 years of your typical 3 year contract. I'm not a fan of Pearson but that contract extension now seems the right thing to do. In this latest episode of FBC podcast in addition to reviewing the performance at Watford we debate that in 23/24 anything less than match the efforts of Luton & Millwall who look destined for places in the play offs should be considered failure. 10. I'm thinking Ole is amongst the Cornick detractors! How he can give him a 5 and yet our hugely effectual captain Weimann a 7 is baffling.
  11. Last season was a one off when you look at his career overall. 10-12 goals a season striker.
  12. Soccer AM is set to be shelved after almost 30 years as part of a drastic Sky Sports shake-up. Staff were reportedly told on Tuesday that the show was to wrap up at the end of the current season. Full article here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11889513/Soccer-AXED-end-season-shake-up.html
  13. I think you might be referring to Ian who knows *uck all about football but he suggested Nahki as a "1" in a recent and IIRC past episode of FBC and target man he is not.?
  14. Some suggested Cornick was the Martin replacement - no evidence so far.
  15. You mean like Nahki - but at least he stays fit!
  16. Accepting the fact that Ian can be a rude, arrogant, factually inept *unt, as I have commented on here before, you might be interested to know that since the turn of the year we've experienced an 20% increase in listeners compared with the 5 episodes after the World Cup break. We're tracking towards 1000 listeners per episode. Now I don't know how that compares with 3Peaps or OSIB as their figures are not in the public domain like our own but based on Twitter followers then comparing our 900 with their 2.7k & 7k respectively they should be getting a lot, lot more than that - would be interesting to know. Always good to have your text comments Tomo during our live podcast recordings - keep it up and, as I've said many times, come on as a speaker
  17. If Nigel repeats what he did with Leicester in 2013/14 when they won the Championship then the last 13 went 8-4-1. That would put us on a 72 point finish. Doable?
  18. No - must have been having a "senior moment" !!?
  19. Yes it is and I'm glad you do [like the "new" Ian]. Chris ,as always, is v. Good too.
  20. [also available on Google, Apple & Spotify]. DaveP hosts the inimitable Ian Gay, Mark Tovey AND Chris Honor in this review of this afternoon's game at the SOL. The unbeaten run is extended to 11 games as City get a point at the SOL but, more importantly, after a wait of 469 days we got a penalty and Nahki tucked it away in the 93rd minute. Ian offers a short debrief on what Steve Lansdown said in his address to the Senior Reds on Thursday PLUS, listen out for Chris explaining what it's like to take a penalty under pressure as he recalls his strike from the spot against Joe Jordan's Hearts back in the 90s Sound quality is better these days and Ian's not his dogmatic self [a trend of late if you're a critic who doesn't listen]
  21. Thanks, Ian was particularly balanced today and I know doesn't give a *shit about those who say he knows *od all about football SL was guest speaker for the first time in 4 years at the Senior Reds lunch on Thursday. He took written questions and some from the floor including Ian who was suitably polite. I don't question his commitment to the club when reflecting on what he said. He put the record straight on one question regarding the houses at the back of the Atyeo - the club only own one. There are no plans to redevelop that end of the ground although a feasibility study was undertaken a few years ago which could increase capacity to 35k+ and would include filling in the corners.
  22. I you too !! Let's have some examples then as my best is clearly not good enough ? Take a listen at 6 tonight: https://www.podbean.com/lsw/voj3TKjf6G?lsid=KMN1lTYAfpw
