  1. He's turned 60 and I can't believe in how many people's heads he's living rent free looking at all the comments on here! Talk about the win FFS!
  2. Thank you for that very considered critique of this week's episode. We'll take on board the comments of you and others regarding the swing in mood associated with win vs. defeat / draw ; will be difficult if points are lost from winning positions though!?
  3. Perhaps I should have said displaying some degree of playing identity which hasn't been evident, in my most humblest of opinions, since the first half of 2017/18.
  4. In our latest episode DaveP is in the chair talking with Ian ,Lezz & Rob Pickles about today's hugely impressive win against Cardiff: LISTEN HERE: https://foreverbristolcity.podbean.com/e/cardiff-h-reviewed-if-this-style-can-be-maintained-then-the-sky-s-the-limit/ [Also on Apple, Google & Spotify] Never mind Scott, Semenyo & HNM as our star trio, you have to add Tommy Conway to that list as he scored for the 2nd time at home this week. Cardiff were no mugs but they lacked firepower in the final third and when they got within a whiff of a goal Bentley was on hand at his usual shot-stopper best. We mustn't get carried away with the positivity we expressed in the content of this episode but this side [OK, based on just two games] looks like it knows what it's doing and that's something you couldn't say has been evident for a while. Must give a shout out for the referee Thomas Bramhall whose eagerness to let the game flow was a pleasure to behold!
  5. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you have written here particularly the highlighted paragraph.
  6. Not a feature of our game so much when CM is playing?
  7. That long! If we're that crap why even bother clicking the link? If you had listened longer you would have heard Ian say no one scored less than an 8/10 in his view - now his 8 is another's 10 or someone else's 7 .... all about opinions.
  8. Who are the "they" you're referring to? Seeing @GrahamC on the thread it must include us (FBC) but if you see my tweets and listen to the Luton review on our latest episode we are giving an outpouring of praise! Would be good if some of these critics came on the pod but they won't!
  9. Link to listen: https://foreverbristolcity.podbean.com/e/luton-h-reviewed-what-was-not-to-like-about-that/ [Also on Apple, Google & Spotify] It's been something of a rarity this past 4 years to come away from Ashton Gate feeling exhilarated by a City performance but last night was one of those ocassions as the team put on a 95 minute show that had everything. The pace of the game was up several notches from what we've become used to as the pace of Conway, Wells & Weimann up front tied the Hatters defence in knots and there was energy too in a midfield combo of Alex Scott & HNM. The back 3 were impressive with Vyner showing he can sustain concentration for the duration, Naismith keen to put one over on his former club and Atkinson having one of his best games as well as linking up well with JD in forward sorties. Sykes was impressive too until his sending off which I thought was going to happen but Luke Freeman should have gone as well. If Weimann & Semenyo [when fit] are auto selections then you're looking at one from Conway, Wells & Martin for the remaining strike role. CM is bottom of that list in our view but on the bench as an impact sub when he can give it his all for 20 minutes. Local lad Tommy has done enough to suggest he's another one of our starlets destined for the top. We look forward to the Cardiff game and also discuss Nige's justified outburst on the standard of officiating. Btw, if you listen what's the link between Bananarama and the Luton manager?
  10. It's Ian's birthday today and you can listen to him later on the match review pod.?
  11. 100% agree with everything you've written in this post.
  12. A recording of this morning's live podcast: https://foreverbristolcity.podbean.com/e/unbeaten-in-2-but-an-unwanted-consistency-in-how-we-re-playing/ Usual knee jerk stuff from Ian, Mark & DaveP! ? Ian reveals from a source that he says "has been reliable 70% of the time" that there's an incoming bid for Weimann which might prove difficult to turn down. We said in season reviews & previews that this Weimann interest could materialise and the way he's started this campaign as he finished last will not have gone unnoticed by possible suitors. Yes, he loves this club but any move could see at least a doubling of his wages and the chance of hefty signing on fee that might prove too difficult to resist. There would be uproar if it happened! I'm sorry to say Scott's performances are not going to secure him a big money move and despite press comment that Palace want Semenyo for £12M will they sign him now now as he recovers from injury or wait until January - Dicks signed John Galley in 1967 when he was on crutches with his ankle in plaster
  13. Half the salary bill to bring it more in line with Millwall, Luton, PNE & Blackpool?
  14. Not like you to scapegoat an individual player Dave. What threat did Martin offer in the final 1/3 of the game [pitch for that matter]? He could have come off for King to add numbers in the middle. Maybe he was conserving energy for his undoubted place in the starting line up on Tuesday
  15. This is the link to hear us record the pod live at 10.00 today: https://www.podbean.com/lsw/voj3TKjf6G?lsid=Kp9EatYAfpw [link to recording later in thread] Andi Weimann's 4th goal in four was the only bright spot in the blistering heat of the DW Stadium as City put in an all too familiar type of display as they had to settle for a point. I find myself conflicted as before the game I would have taken a point but it was aspects of the performance that sees me take the view that we are in for a long hard season. Why do we run out of puff with annoying regularity? What of Alex Scott? Played better at RWB than he appears to be doing in his favoured midfield. A fit Joe Williams but is he all that and perhaps the same applies to Kal Naismith? JD attacking threat? don't think so. There are some positives - Sykes looks a decent signing, Tommy Conway is doing fine and even Zak Vyner is doing OK in so far as he is no worse than those alongside him. And what of Nigel Pearson? Easy to jump on the beating with a stick bandwagon but he doesn't help himself does he? Seems unable / unwilling to change tactics mid-game and displays an unbelievable level of loyalty to Chris Martin who was AWOL for most of the time yesterday. He took off our youngest two players yesterday but still our target man who's 34 in November does a full 90 mins and you just know he'll be selected Tuesday night vs. Luton. I'm worried so if you've read this far join us on the recording and tell me why I shouldn't be and face off against Ian "the *ock" Gay
  16. I would say the start of 17/18, 18/19 & 19/20 were decent and I'm no fan of LJ
  17. Agree, he's usually "blowing" after 70 minutes.
  18. I watched Malaga CF for a few years and they did a tribute once a year just after Christmas - pictures on the Big Screen with "sensitive" background music track. BAFTA Awards & Oscars do similar at some point in each annual ceremony
  19. I think that should read 14 Jan 2016 when he, Wade & Wilbs held the fort for a few weeks until LJ started
  20. Here's what we recorded earlier: https://foreverbristolcity.podbean.com/e/why-the-long-faces-we-played-well-for-an-hour/ [Also on Google, Spotify & Apple] Intro / out music is in memory of The Seekers lead singer Judith Durham who passed away yesterday - who else saw them in Panto [Humpty Dumpty] at the Bristol Hippodrome in 1966? Who remembers any of their songs including the featured track which was also made into a film? Ian's views are quite balanced, Neil's typically analytic & thoughtful, Mark provides some humour and DaveP wrestles with typical FBC Pod sound issues!!!
  21. We've just been talking [not for the first time !] about this on FBC Pod. Personally I think it is possible to have a separately owned / funded football club under the Bristol Sport [Pula Sports Ltd.] umbrella. Here is the relevant 2 minutes from the Geoff 20man interview with SL: https://make.headliner.app/download/7435adc9-7009-409a-9cf1-f8e9a29ef32d?source=user-export-email&pid=064cffac-3fe1-4a82-a06a-d2152c293650&_branch_match_id=1061696442179810464&utm_source=email&utm_medium=video-detail&_branch_referrer=H4sIAAAAAAAAAw3LSwrDIBAA0Nt0N%2FFvMoXQswzOiELaiJrQ47dv%2F8qcbTyVGoW6LEWIj%2FqRvlBr6q4sJ7BMqodavQvECWHVGsFrJMCUDeRNkCxKdpZf47x6kv0a0kG%2B7ewT5P3fj1Z519GnnCmBy2LA02aBdCRga4JNFl0M%2BgfFa0EcjwAAAA%3D%3D
  22. You can listen to us live at 10.00 this morning as we record our latest episode reviewing yesterday's game and also debate the comments Steve Lansdown made in his interview with Geoff 20Man pre-match about "selling" the club: https://www.podbean.com/lsw/voj3TKjf6G?lsid=oo5pmu0purw [link to the recording will be posted later in this thread] Just what was Kal Naismith thinking on 3 minutes when his hesitancy gifted the visitors their first but fair play to City who scored a well worked goal through Weimann to level and then take the lead with Martin's scrambled effort. However from the 60th minute either Sunderland stepped up a gear or, like at Hull, our resilience [fitness?] was found wanting and there was only going to be one winner and it wasn't us. Orchestrated from midfield by Barry Bannan lookalike Alex Pritchard Sunderland loanee Sims grabbed his second and Stewart headed the winning goal as City looked a somewhat disorganised rabble in the closing 15 minutes. It is quite depressing that c8k non-season ticket holders from Bristol decided to give it a go on the day and whilst they saw a 5-goal thriller how many will be back against Luton a week on Tuesday? Lansdown's chat with Geoff was very interesting and my interpretation of what he said echoes the thoughts we've expressed on FBC and that is that the football club can be hived off from Bristol Sport if the price is right.
  23. 1. Indeed the whole pattern of the game was different from that moment on. Hell, if it hadn't happened we might have won but the pendulum was swinging in the home side's favour as most [?] would agree. 2. Won't deny those comments re. HNM - it was all about fresh legs, particularly in the middle. 3. That was, I believe, to replace the inured Atkinson. When it was announced that Zak Vyner was starting the decision bought dogs abuse on here prior to kick off. People always pick up on a perceived level of negativity expressed on FBC but on this point we were, as a group, praising Zak's performance.
  24. Why the witch hunt over Ian FFS? I invite any of his critics to come on to our next live podcast which we'll record at 10.00 AM next Sunday as we review the Sunderland game.
